The anime is controversial because of the fact that literally everyone died for not freaking reason. It was rushed and there was no character development as well. The anime studio that adapted it made it WAY different from the manga and the manga was a lot better (it was a lot darker as well). They also skipped an ENTIRE arc from the manga as well which made a lot of people mad xD.
