My Surface-Level Scoring System:
10: These works have affected me on a deep, personal level, and I feel that they're an outstanding representation of all that the medium has to offer. They most likely have strong writing, directing, animation, sound design, and have a high emotional value to me. Easily an all-time favorite work.
9: These works may have some combination of the attributes of the works that receive a 10, but there's something that I feel holds them back from being a masterpiece. Still one of my favorites though.
8: A great work that likely doesn't affect me on the same raw emotional level that 9 and 10 scoring works do. There may be something I feel the show is missing that holds it back from its true potential.
7: A good work that's enjoyable, and likely has one standout element be it art, writing, or directing. They're not perfect by any means, but they still are some of the better works that the medium has to offer.
6: A work that was overall entertaining, but definitely isn't without its fair share of problems. I don't regret watching it, but it wasn't exactly a life-changing experience.
5: A work that is average in every since in the word. It's not necessarily a good show, but it's not exactly bad either. Every work from here on out are works that I regret watching to some extent, that level of regret being greater the lower the score.
4: From here on out, these are all works I actively dislike. There may be a saving grace to this show that doesn't make it an atrocity, but overall, it's definitely not something I enjoyed.
3: Works I dislike with a passion, and feel that the medium would be a better place without their existence. They may have a redeeming factor such as cinematography or animation, but it doesn't excuse the fact that it's literal dogshit.
2: A work that's mind-bogglingly terrible. The only thing saving it from being a 1 is that there still manage to be works worse than this.
1: A work so terrible, appalling, and even offensive that the mere thought of it makes me want to commit seppuku.
Those are just the basic guidelines you can use to evaluate how I feel about a certain work, but feel free to ask me for more in-depth opinions.
