anyway, my lecturer overlooked one task and thus gave me an even better mark! (2,0) :D

well then, Schroedingers cat is was a thought experiment, that is still used to explain quantum mechanics, that assumes, that the whole quantum theory is true. (In fact, Schroedinger invented it, to prove quantum theory as wrong, but like Einstein, while trying to refute quantum mechanics, he accidently prooved it, ironically, as right XD) Anyway now to Schroedingers cat :3

Imagine you have a box in which you can t look into. You put your cat into it, along with a singel radioactive Atom. if the Atom decays, it will be messured by a Geiger Counter, which will send an electric signal to a mechanism, that will smash an ampulla filled with toxic, which will immediately kill the cat.

If you wait for the Halflife time of the Atom, there is therefore a 50% chance, that the cat is alive or dead (viewed classically), now quantum mechanics says:
"the cat is neither dead nor allive, but it is both" means, the living cat is dead or the dead cat is living. And that conveys one of the most basic principle of quantum mechanics (which was proven in experiments many times), that if you have have a couple of diffrent possible conditions, ALL possible conditions will be fulfilled. But, if you check the actual condition, everything will be determined, when you do that.
Imagine, that you have a floating object in a closed room. that moves freely. As long, as you don t observe it, it is at every single position possible in the room, but if you open the door and look at it, it is (like in our experience) only in one position and moving on a certain trajectory.

Well, it all sounds quite strange, the theory was made for objects of the Volume of atoms, since Newtons mechanic won t solve some most basic questions, like why can the Electron circle the atom nucleus? If you were to use it, you would calculate, that the Electron crushes into the nucleus, yet it will never do so, and quantum mechanics is able to solve the equation and deliver the right equation of motion :3, so you will never need it for objects you can actually see^^

well I ll leave it at that, since I probably confused you far to much with just that ._.", if you don t understand Schroedingers cat, try to accept it as a diffrent logic, that s what I m thinking of quantum mechanics^^, I think it is one of the most interessting things in the universe and might lead to the explanation of the big bang ;)
