This is one of the almost gems in the rough. The story is amusing, sort of episodic, and easy to follow. The art is what it should be, absurd.

But then the flaws start showing. You'll start hearing a stupid tune being whistled throughout the show, and while the song it's based off of is okay, the whistling itself is annoying, repetitive, and irritating.

And then there is one extremely stupid character(not the protagonist). This isn't a spoiler, but basically the character in question is a b****, for a lack of a better word. The dialogues centered around him are dumb, to say the least.

I'll give you ... an idea of what I'm talking about. Say you have a friend who's sort of like you, except he has an amazing talent for music. This talent would be everything you've dreamed of, but you don't have it. Then, say he refuses to use his talent because you're better at something else than he is, and says he won't play music until he's as good as you in whatever you're doing.

In the anime, it's described as "bravery," while in fact it's simply arrogance and unintentional condescension.

So while the anime's enjoyable overall, this one character ruined a lot of it for me.

Art + Sound 10/10: The best part of this anime, the sounds were gorgeous, and the character art was consistent and good. The last episode, especially, had some amazing art and sound. The music played was pretty amazing (where did they get those recordings?).

Story + Character 6/10: Very slow paced, very predictable character reactions, very slow character development, tolerable plot, and pretty satisfying ending. Also, being a pianist, I can assure you that concert halls aren't nearly that rowdy (at least where I live). That about sums it up.

I'll keep this short and sweet.

Characters absolutely sucked ass. The story was predictable and cliche. The soundtrack was okay. The art suffered immensely during action scenes (not to mention the weird lip shadows).

Cliche, cliche, cliche. Nothing much to it. May be a good anime for beginners that haven't seen enough cliches yet, but to someone who actually watches a shatton of stuff, this anime was complete booty.
