2015 - Got into anime, watched K-ON 2016 - My moeblob year, I just watched "cutesy" stuff 2017 - Didn't watch much anime 2018 - Tried a lot of new stuff and taste changed as a result 2019 - [ongoing] (LoGH a GOOD)
- "Favorites" refer to the series, not the individual season shown.
(10: Above & Beyond) - Above all, I have respect for this anime. Not only was it original and thoroughly entertaining, but the integrity and quality were enough for me to value it over all else. Any anime that achieves this score really means something to me.
(9: Outstanding) - A 9 would describe an anime that really sticks with me as something I love. 9 has a lot more flexibility than 10 because, if a show appeals to me very strongly in several key areas, but doesn't necessarily achieve perfection or has to be carried by those key areas, it will probably find itself at a 9. The extent to which the anime pulls me into immersion and emotional investment are important factors here.
(8: Excellent) - A show that finds itself at an 8 is something that clearly surpasses my average (I'm picky, which leads my average to lay around 7), yet doesn't amaze me. An 8 has to excite me in several ways and deliver consistency in what makes it enjoyable, and have at least a couple of features that I can point to and say I really like.
(7: Good) - My average rating is always around a 7. This score indicates that that anime was enjoyable, but not much other than that. It's not an anime I'd wish I'd watched sooner, nor one I feel like I wasted my time watching. That said, these anime are not very memorable, whilst nevertheless being undoubtedly positive experiences.
(5/6: Watchable) - A 5 or 6 is a grey area. "Watchable" is usually going to be the best word for it, but this anime may have been abbrasive at times (read: boring, poor writing, irritating). It's not an anime I would be excited to see the next episode of, nor one I would dread to continue.
(1/2/3/4: Poor) - An anime of this quality has, in any case, been dropped. It either had terrible writing (the usual reason) or just has no qualities that carry it for me. It probably doesn't have any dignity, or is just an absolute failure in what it tries to do.
