This anime is borderline offensive in how lazy the production of its concepts and narrative are. Art and sound are passable. Fights/conflicts are lazily constructed with no palpable tension, and then executed in the most dissatisfying way, to leave you feel nothing but disappointment by the end.
Had my other review removed because I had attempted to make dramatized representation of the views above. I shall add it below.
Review Text
So I thought about writing a real review for this, but that would be more effort than they put into gathering the most generic isekai concepts to birth this trash.
...
In that spirit my review is this..
You sit down at your favorite maid cafe. The pretty girl/guy trap, that you have had your eye on for some time, comes to take your order. Of course, you order omurice; your usual. Unknowingly, to your misfortune, the normal chef is off today with cold from being out in the rain for a few minutes because they forgot their umbrella and did not change out of their wet clothes in time. So today covering for the chef is Waifu Flunky. Who never learned how to cook. but seemed really eager so the cafe manager let her do it anyway. The pretty bunny girl/guy trap that is really a 2000 year old loli fox godess brings you your dish, sets it down in front of you and chants "Oishiku nare, moe moe kyun!" and draws a ketchup heart on it for you with a wink. "Its looks nice enough." you think to yourself, but just as you take your first bite, you notice a purple aura emanating from the inside of the dish. "It's too late" you realize as you swallow. Paralyzed in your chair; your soul starts to leave your body from your mouth.
That's what watching this anime is like...

Episode 13 is hot garbage. I am sure that been stated enough by others and I fully agree with those that have voiced it. It was clear episode 12 was the finale with hero types coming out of the woodwork to fight the big bad. I guess it was meant as an OVA I assume, but whatever. OVA or not, it still did not do this series any favors.
On to real talk now. I found characters designs to be adequate. Nothing ground breaking there. Art style for interior/city backgrounds I found to be well done in most cases;

most rural/outdoor areas where nothing special. The story follows a very linear game like style (no surprise being based on a game). The formula consisted of go to island, help the spirit there, get a map piece that clues the crew where to go next; picking up new friends along the way. For as mediocre as it sounds it was still enjoyable to watch.
I liked this anime more than I should have, mainly because I was thinking of how much fun it would be to DM a game of D&D in this type of setting. Which got a mind churning with great ideas for a campaign.

Only in one episode so far, but this may be the first show I drop. I don't mind ecchi as long as it has a decent narrative and/or good fights, but I really don't see this show going passed what it presented episode one. Jiggly tits, twitching nipples, panty shots with camel toe, fights that consist of some tool sucking on a girl's breast to then one shot the bad person, sub-par art unless it's something sexual or a fight scene key frame and a fucking pink hair girl with THEE annoying laugh (you know the one). I will give it a

couple more episodes, I guess, and update this if I find anything worthwhile.
Update for episode two- witnessed a girl suck on her friend's nipple then, after being told to suck on her own, proceeds to self suckle... not even two minutes in. Fuck it I'm done... if I was some horny teen this might appeal to me in a way but I am not and it doesn't.

*There be minor spoilers and a mini rantopsis ahead*
I would like to state this review does not base its score or opinion on condoning/defending acts of sexual abuse that may or may not occur in this anime. Seems like thats a hot topic in this thread.
...
Citrus starts with a somewhat nonsensical premise. A woman remarries to a man that is never around which brings together their children, two high schools girls of the same age, into the same household. Mei appears to have a major father complex which I feared, at the beginning, was from earlier abuse; given the way she acted, but it turned out just be something about fears for the family legacy. Yuzu is a gyaru that is thrust into a strict all girls school after the remarriage; of which Mei, her now step sister, is student body president and the chairman's granddaughter. Friction ensues between them which leads Mei, for some reason, to force herself onto Yuzu and kisses her. Turns out Yuzu kinda likes it. After a bit of enjoyable inner monologue by Yuzu sorting out her feelings; she falls in love with Mei but is unsure how to proceed. At this point the anime devolves into "stuff happens to drag out the will they/won't they til the end" the anime. I don't have much more to say other than a thing about the character Sara. She is introduced very late in the series and spends a around a day with the two main girls. In this small window of time she somehow has both of them figured out enough to explain to Yuzu what kind of person Mei is, and gives her advice for the final confrontation for the yuri cup. Just a nitpick, but it was one of those moments where I rolled my eyes so far back into my head I went blind for how sloppy a narrative it presents.
