[UPDATE 5/31/2016]: Whew, I haven't been here for YEARS! I didn't even know I have an account here. Well, I'm back!
Anime fan since watching TV reruns of those popular Super Robot Series anime back in the '70s (that is, I started watching them back in the '80s). Among those I've watched were Macross (Robotech), Gundam, Voltes V, Daimos, Mechander Robo, Steel Jeeg, etc. I stopped watching anime when my family and I moved to the U.S. (where there's technically no anime existed on TV shows back then).
It wasn't until in the mid-'90s in my first Japanese classes in college that I rediscovered anime once again when anime became available to the U.S. In addition, I started exploring with other genres too (comedy, romance, slice-of-life, magical girls, etc. etc.). Actually, I have always been fond of the Japanese language and culture and I wanted to "expose" myself to that new culture, but never have I thought of anime during that time. Thanks to my classmates in Japanese class, I got exposed to anime again, in addition to manga altogether.
I've been out of college for over 10 years now and due to my other interests, as well as work, I'm not much of a huge anime fan as I used to, but I still am an avid reader of manga altogether. I would watch anime whenever there is time or if there's a feel to it, but I have other priorities to look forward to unrelated to anime, manga, or even with video games.
