If you look at my previous comment you'll see that I mentioned that these characters weren't realisticly written to fit the setting of the show. Needless to say, this is a very realistic show, setting and story. The characters were the ones who were written terribly or unrealistic, ofcourse all of them weren't but most of them were. Like I said, Eva was one of the few characters who were written realistic.
You are correct in saying that not all seinen are suppose to be written realistic. However, I'm on episode 64 and unless there are people coming back to life, flying or time traveling in the next 10 episodes then this is indeed a very realistic show. But what I might consider being realistic, you might see it as being unrealistic.
The only thing personally for me that was enjoyable or remotely interesting about this entire series were the twins backstory. But hey, that's just me, I simply wanted to watch an anime that I planned to watch for over 10 years. Unfortunately, when I got down to watching it, I was severely disappointed. And this is what I tell people, 15 years ago this show might've been good based on older anime standards but if you try to watch that show again 10 or 15 years later or when u become an adult then that is when you'll truly test how good or bad the quality of that show is. You'll start to see and notice things you didn't notice before such as plot holes or foreshadowing etc.
While we're at it. What shows do you like, enjoy or would say is written well?
Unfortunately I already know what Johan's goal is, I saw a spoiler by accident. In terms of badly written characters, what I meant to say was that these characters were not very realisticly written to fit the setting of the show.
In terms of Eva, I'm on episode 60 and I don't see any character growth, she is still the same rich/spoilt/bratty girl type. She had been the exact same from start to finish, I have 14 episodes left so I will see. It's also funny that you mention her since she was one of the few characters who were written realisticly. Also it makes absolutely no sense for her to be alive this long, not just her but a lot of the cast who wanted to prove Tenma's innocence.
The show has too many plot holes and too many badly written characters who make stupid decisions. Johan is also a walking plot hole who is suppose to be a Monster and villian yet he does nothing worth mentioning in the story or is hardly seen.
Truth be told, I had fun with Monster, during/after each episode I would list all the plot holes or issues with each episode (I did that till ep40). However, things started to get a bit ridiculous because every episode had an issue or something that didn't make sense so I stopped listing them lol
I was shocked at how bad this show was given how much good things I heard about it.

But, I'm asking what are some examples of what u like or what you thought had good writing?
