Heat Guy J (Anime) add
Wow! What a great series! I wasn't sure if this series was going to be predictable and boring.. however once into it, each episode was different and evolved nicely with great mixing of drawn and computer animation and stellar characters. It was a very pleasant surprise for me.

Story 10/10: A suave "detective" like city worker with his machine partner fight crime in a corrupt city.. that's just the framework... the story delves into different types of people that are found in any given city and shows interactions and development of friendships, alliances & betrayals.

Art 10/10: The art was fantastic. The characters were realistic and ...

Cardcaptor Sakura is probably one of my favorite series of all time. The story is about a young girl who awakens a magical book that holds cards created by a magician. With the help of the books guardian, she and her friends collect the cards to save the world from a disaster.

Story 9/10: The story is well developed, Sakura evolves as the story progresses. Even though it's centered around an elementary aged protagonist, the flow of the story feels more adult-like.

Art 9/10: The characters are expressive, sincere and the scenery is detailed. CLAMP mangakas are very good at expressing the feelings of each ...

Akkan Baby (Manga) add
Preliminary (Unknown/12 chp)
Akkan Baby was a short, really enjoyable shoujo about two young, innocent teens having a baby. It dealt with a serious issue, showing how the two overcome obstacles and making tough decisions together.. very inspiring..

Story 8/10: It was nice how there was humor involved in the serious issue. The two characters were supportive of one another. The story was well written, clean, easy to understand and smooth.

Art 8/10: The art was very expressive and humorous at times. I liked how the mangaka portrayed their expressions throughout the series, the were serious when necessary..

Character 8/10: The characters were great- Yuki & Shigeru were goofy but serious ...

Mixed Feelings
Well, this one was fun... the story was about the smart, popular female student president & the delinquent, (but also smart) popular male "head" at the two neighboring schools becoming an item...

Story was not original and cliched, even had the cheesy, hoakey qualities that make a common shoujo sometimes NOT enjoyable..
The art wasn't that great, I thought the characters had big heads...

The characters themselves weren't developed and were too hoakey for my tastes.

I enjoyed it for what it was- a simple, predictable easy read...

Mixed Feelings
Do You Want to Try is a pretty short manwha revolving around a hot headed girl who becomes a "fake" girlfriend to a jjang.

Story 5/10: Pretty typical manwha, girl is liked by many, has boys fight over her, gets confused at times, even has jjangs (gang leaders).. even the original premise of the story is not that original- the main fella comes across the heroine before she realizes it and falls in love at first sight..

Art 7/10: The art was really good, I like the Korean style of animation there is a lot of detail in faces and the characters overall look different from ...

Love Monster was about a girl who attends a monster school and the school president is in love with her for some reason. It's a love, comedy, drama series with decent action for a shoujo.

Story 7/10: The story at times seemed a little hokey, the amount of times the main character was kidnapped/harassed was to the point of ridiculousness.. but overall it had nice twists and turns. Especially towards the end of the series, it became more serious and moved nicely.

Art 7/10: The art was good, typical; big eyes, attractive men, small busty girls. Some of the male side characters were quite impressive (from ...

This manga was short, touching and sweet. The main character is viewed as a horrible monster but due to a political arrangement marries a 10 year old princess from the neighboring country to maintain peace between the kingdoms. From that point on the view of the black knight is changed and he is quite likable throughout the series.. The animation was nothing out of the ordinary but pleasurable. I liked the characters though due to the length weren't indulged in too much which was a bummer.

Tsumi ni Nureta Futari was a very touching forbidden love story. The two main characters meet as man and woman before ever knowing their true identities. As they interact their love intensifies as well as the hardships associated with incest...

Story 8/10: It was a sad, complex story that allowed for the reader to become completely submersed.

Art 8/10: The art was good, but at times features were out of proportion.

Character 9/10: The characters were well written, with the perspective of every character fully developed. One could sympathize with each person's view.

Enjoyment 8/10: It was a really great story that pulled me along handmade ...

Preliminary (11/16 chp)
Story is about a girl who comes to high school wanting to change her image after being bullied in middle school. She falls for a boy whose nice to her and his best friend tells her to "back off cuz he's his". So there's the twist...

Story 9/10: It was different from the typical shoujo. The girl doesn't get to date the boy she was originally after.. any more and I'll spoil the story..

Art 8/10: It was typical for this style. Big eyes, expressive faces, decent background.

Character 9/10: I liked the characters in this story. They're supportive of each other and grow throughout the story ...

This way a story about a country girl whose thrown out her home to make it as an adult in the city. She meets up with two childhood friends, one whose now a idol who has always had feelings for her. She also meets a boy that causes her all sorts of problems.

Story 8/10: It's sweet, challenging and well developed. Thought each issue that was presented was resolved nicely.

Art 8/10: It was a style that's popular with Korean mangakas. The eyes and facial expressions are markedly different from Japanese mangakas. But, I do like the style, so it works for me.

Character 8/10: They were likable ...
