Thanks for reading. I'm glad you enjoyed it! The Nora OVA is one of the worst experiences I've ever had watching a series.
Votoms is fantastic, and it would be very high on my list of favorite series. It's definitely a series that I greatly enjoyed for a vast majority of the time I was watching it. It is very bleak and features a very cynical outlook on humanity. Honestly, I had considered Yoshiyuki Tomino to have made some of the most cynical series I've seen after watching several of the Gundam series he directed, but there were glimmers of hope spread throughout them. Most of the time, this isn't really the case with Votoms, and I'd say Takahashi has created one of the most bleak and grim series I've seen with Votoms. It's certainly got a lot of elements to it that I found really interesting with the dystopian setting, political intrigue, stark realism, and fascinating characters. I also really enjoyed seeing the mecha element have such a thought out practicality behind it as well. It definitely added to that sense of realism. Thanks for the kind wishes. The best to you as well!

Rewatched it in Fact. In just the first two episodes the real plot is far from starting... But if you don't like the characters don't force yourself, it happens to me too. And I think that being able to relate to the characters is really important to truly enjoy the series.

About Macross... The new ones aren't really to my liking, but if you like Ginga you should give the first one a try (or the movie that is a remake of it). It can be just my nostalgia speaking, but you can fell they tried a lot harder back then.

Hey I try to bring the super Robot genre back but with some changes and with influence of real Robot aesthetics.
I am only 21 years old, so if everything works fine I will have many years of time to become a better Artist.
The medium of my choice is Comic/manga and maybe Motion Comic/ Animation someday.

I am motivated and I mean it serious.
Everyday I do my studies of anatomy and draw some hours.
Most of my Pictures arent online because I have no scanner.
I think we Robot fans arent many so we have to connect.

If you can give me advice or cool ideas please send me a message.

I hope my english isnt too wrong because I am from North europe.

Lain is timeless, it covers the beginning of computer science, so that is forty years prior, and mingles it all with psychology... it's one 13-episode trip.

And, the ISS does seem like an ideal of diplomacy at this point if in comparison to its earthly counterparts...

Inspiring flcl review

Howdy!

Yep, long time, no hear! Mais, j'ai aussi fini ma thèse! Finalement!

Ganbatte ne as well!

A couple of respectable reviewers have attempted to peel away the raw hallucinogenic surface of FLCL and analyze the "subtle thematic core lurking beneath" (scroll down to see on judojon, Otakin09 if you're curious). But honestly, even if their analysis happens to be 100% accurate... I still can't really bring myself to respect the show as a whole.

well. i,m and oldskool animegeek, mostly because i grew up with some good serie´s i recollecting and have seen a lot of good stuff over the last 25 years.

making t.v adaptations from manga´s back then.... well just not enough time and money i guess to completely make an manga -to/anime adaption, because all those serie´s were way too long for animation studio´s back then to keep track of some important stuff. good thing is dat they pick it up to fill it up like saint seiya. about gumnn....I NEED MY FIX

see ya and tnx for the reply

Apologies in getting back to you so late (haven't used this site recently, as I haven't been consuming any manga or anime), but thank you very much for the kind words.

And yes, by all means! If you liked the structure I used for that review, feel free to use it yourself. I certainly don't have a copyright on it or anything. :)

We are definitely in the minority haha. As much as I disliked Ergo Proxy, it's a masterpiece compared to Steins;Gate!

Well as a Greek I found them too light. And I did appreciate the atmposhere but not the loose plot.

Haha I personally love FLCL, but your review was hilarious. Had to give it a "helpful".

Having recieved the following "Club messaging has been disabled for now. This will likely return in the future." every time I try to message all club members. And after spending about an hour trying to find out if they even have an ETA on the return, I decided I have to do this the old fashioned way.

Time to nominate your favorite anime!

Rules are simple, nominate a single anime or second one that someone else has nominated.

You may nominate something you have nominated before, but not a previous winner.

Any finished anime series, movie, or finished OAV is eligible. Any anime series currently airing is not.

Please include a url link to the anime that you are nominating as occasionally the name is repeated, but the series are completely different (i.e. Macross).

This thread will remain open until 3 June 2012 and is located here.
