“It’s not like I want something like a confession. I’m fine with a chance to fall in love, just a little. I just want simple, casual words. Words that can make one say : ah, so I could fall in love just like that…” - Megumi Katou

of girls. However, that was just part of the reality. I was, genuinely speaking, satisfied and content with the journey I went through.
If I had to make a short summary of how the franchise went in its story direction and themes, it would be like a romcom, followed by a melancholy drama with short bursts of romance, ending in a full-on romance story with a happy conclusion. Stories like these are rather rare. Another set of renowned examples of this would be Oregairu and Sakurasou. It may not be suited to everyone’s tastes, however. It is inevitable; you can’t please everybody. Though, for those who share the same tastes as me in this case, you’ll find yourself substantially immersed in the story.
The golden crown of Saekano lies within its characters. We have Tomoya, an enthusiastic otaku with optimistic dreams of producing games. As always in an anime scenario, he eventually finds himself in an extremely lucky situation of being surrounded by girls who cooperated with him in achieving his goals. In this movie, we are introduced to a situation wherein these girls, Utaha and Eriri, have recently betrayed his cause and left off to pursue their dreams and desire to climb the hierarchy of prestige and success. In dismay and sorrow, Tomoya keeps moving forward despite the rocky journey ahead. In the movie, you’ll get to realize that despite all that occurred in the previous season, he is someone who is loyal to his cause and whims of kinship. He brought himself to assist Utaha and Eriri whenever they faced a complication, and managed to pull through under considerable pressure and expectation. Alongside his main heroine, Megumi Katou, Tomoya finds himself encountering heavy, arduous points in the path to fruition. This is a story of achieving dreams, finding love, and having someone that you care and cares about you.
Here is where Saekano shines. We are given the opportunity to explore the characterization of the main cast. Tomoya’s relationship with the girls are pellucidly laid out for us. Eriri, a childhood friend that betrayed him twice by now, harbors feelings towards Tomoya, but her desire to uphold a great image and pursue sky-high levels of validation causes rifts in their relationship. Would you sacrifice the emotions and consideration of your loved one for the sake of not appearing like a loser? These are the thoughts involved in the two. This is a real example of a scenario wherein your past, your buoyant views of how the person you love feels about you, eventually clashes with the reality of living. A human is made up of dreams, wishes, emotions, sacrifices, victories, and losses. Sometimes you have to accept reality and move forward.
It isn’t that much distinct from Utaha, another love interest of our main character. She is a representation of the dilemmas of choosing between your success and your love. On one hand, she certainly feels the need to take greater opportunities to rise to the top. However, on the other hand, this causes her to persist within a state of limbo wherein her love for the MC, who refuses to respond to her romantically lewd advances, has to be let go. She’s aware of this, but she decided to take risks and move to a direction that would let her soar to greater heights, but will inevitably hurt the MC, which did. Sometimes, your dreams get in the way of your relationships, but know that you, as a human, have the ultimate power of free will. Unfortunately, we are ignorant creatures who do not know what the future holds. It’s alright to feel regret or acknowledge that you have made mistakes in the past. How we move from it, no matter how long it takes, is where the shadow falls.
This brings us to the one who wears the actual golden crown of Saekano. It’s the one female character who carries this show and melts our hearts- Megumi Katou. She’s the main heroine of the story in Tomoya’s game and life. She seems like your normal average girl, but that’s what makes her special. In a sea of talented, unique queens and characters, she’s ordinary. But her ordinariness coincides with who the MC is and how he develops. I say this straightforwardly; she is the virtuous wife that turns a man great, someone that every man should look for. She stays by the side of Tomoya, tries her best to keep herself on the same page as him and his game-creation circle. She believes in Tomoya, despite him going through ups and downs. She is a loyal woman who deserves all that is best for her, for being pure and genuine to him. She’s the embodiment of the quote, “behind every great man, is a great woman”. Megumi becomes the impetus that drives our main character to great lengths and the story going forward. Is she boring and uninteresting? Maybe, but that doesn’t matter. She’s a boring girlfriend that emanates brilliant light amongst modesty-shining female tropes.
All in all, Saekano Fine acts as a conclusion to this beloved series, encompassing the tribulations and trials that we all inevitably face in life. It depicts the reactions and events surrounding these hardships in a realistic fashion. It brings realistic characters to life which toys with your heart with discord.
You will feel happy, sad, desolate, furious, frustrated, touched, in love, and that’s what made this movie so precious to me. It is rare for a series to create a void in my heart after exposing myself to a wide array of genres and the current saturated anime market, let alone push me to write a review.

I am going to be rather short for this one.
There comes a time where a work of art just brings this ever-swirling vortex of emotion or thoughts into being. When the last page transpired before my eyes I was simply astounded inside, not the kind of awe you get from something exhilarating or inspiring, but rather, it leaves a truth that we should all etch into our minds : Life is shorter than we think. Every second can be endowed with endless possibilities. In a span of time so short, one can achieve more than he/she can even think of, even if it would ... Feb 25, 2018

The comet Halley transpires in the night sky once every 75 years. That means, one who enters the world on that promised day shall see it with his very own eyes alongside his grandchildren, and those grandchildren shall see it again with their own grandchildren. On those lengthy minutes, the faint trails emanating from the comet's tail draws closer to his eyes. A mountain-sized figure, appearing as a mere spec, that embarked on a journey so mindnumbingly great, has finally tainted the dotted heavens through a path billions and billions of miles long. Its tail leaves behind the sprinkle-like glitter that gradually fades into the
