I understand your point of view, and in part ... I consider that you are right in some of your arguments, if it is true that the script is full of conveniences, but in my view it is an innovative story, which has developed from a excellent way, since the script twists that it has really surprising and collide, although, I repeat, if it is true that we can feel that some things like the meteorite are conveniences that help the script, but in my view I think these conveniences they are made in a more organic and natural way than in other movies or anime

any good manga recommendations?

I agree with you.I guess i liked the anime not because of the horror, but it's because of the mystery and lore behind it.I watched the show without knowing anything about it.The first episode legit made me thought that it was going to be a generic horror show where they going to face a boogieman or a serial killer, cause it had a similar vibe to any asian horror movies.I didn't expect that it was going to be like "final destination" and had a more interesting concept to it.Like you said the anime had a good concept but it was wasted due to the writers not knowing how to implemented it properly. At least, they did the mystery and lore right. It made you interested with the lore and everything which is good for the mystery genre. It just fails to come up with a proper conclusion.

I love mystery and psychological thriller shows, like Death Note or Naoki Urosawa's Monster(which is better than Death note and the best out of all of them,i highly recommend you to watch it,if you haven't)and i now that Another is not the right place to search for good mystery, considering this anime is known to be a horror anime. But honestly for the mystery part,it was pretty good, just wasted potential like you said.

Hi,I always thought that the reveal at the end wasn't that bad,in terms who the dead person was.It was quite shocking and unexpected.I think the way they revealed who the dead person was,was very clever and unique. It caught me off guard and i never would of thought or guess that "this person" came to mind. But,i do understand why some people don't like the reveal in terms of build up for the climax. It ruined the show for me.I forgot to mention this in my review,I find it stupid that Misaki knew who the imposter was and she stayed quiet to not hurt Koichi feelings, leading to the deads of many.I also noticed that the show has a plot hole at the very beginning that i also missed in my review.

I agree with you with you about characters having plot armor. If i remember correctly the plot armor elements started to appear most at the final climax. However,i don't find it to bother me,so i won't complain.I'm pretty new to this whole reviewing thing and still learning how to get used to this site.

Hopefully that will change to the better. I've been watching Jujutsu Kaisen and so far no fan service I think. But it's too early to judge overall.
LossomoFilms Feb 23, 7:41 PM
Oh yeah I had nightmares after that Ova. I decided not to watch any other Ovas because everyone is so out of character! Ruins the whole show.

Other than that I choose to ignore fan service in Fairy Tail. I just accept that that's how they look in that universe and just focus on their actions.

All Erzas fights have been phenomenal and other girls also have big moments, like Kana saving everyone in her cards when Elfman betrays them, Mavis saving them from Acno, Lucy summoning Spirit King, etc. So many cool moments when girls do crucial things that changes everything. So that's why I love this show <3

Okay. I guess DS is probably not for me then. All in all I had too little enjoyment for the time I spent.

When I rate any entertainment, be it anime, movies, or books, I don't try to objectively evaluate the complexity or cleverness of the writing, the character development, or really any specific factor like that. It's just about my subjective enjoyment at the time and the degree to which it affects me emotionally.
Elfen Lied actually had med in tears in a few scenes. The pacing, as far as I remember, is good. It never bored me. It had a captivating score, especially the Lilium intro song. The story is just fine. People being experimented on and used as weapons, a victim escapes, bad guys come after her, the sense of just revenge when she beats them, and you (at least I) keep wanting to know what happens next.
It's actually one of the first animes I watched, and I've re-watched it a couple of times.
I haven't read the manga though. I downloaded it at some point, but never got around to reading it.

I've read a few scathing reviews of it though. Reviews that have made me think: "God damn! That's right. That IS pretty dumb!"
And yet, I have thoroughly enjoyed Elfen Lied the times that I've watched, despite it's flaws.
And the ecchi stuff... Idk. It's mostly just "anime silliness", for lack of a better term. I don't mind it as long as it doesn't take away from other parts of the show.

Lastly, about rating shows. I don't mean to say that good writing and character development, or other factors that reviewers often focus on, isn't important. They are. It's just that ultimately it's about the subjective experience. I've read books that are very well written, cleverly thought out, with unpredictable turn of events but still coherent storytelling, and so on, and then there are more flawed books, that I've enjoyed more. Idk why. But I would rate that more flawed book higher than "the better one" simply because my I think my ratings should reflect how I actually felt about it.

Hey there,

That's very interesting, as I didn't see the same patterns in Fairy Tail. Doesn't Fairy Tail stand out from other Shonen animes because of stronger women characters?

I mostly rated dragon ball a 10/10 for nostalgic purposes because that was one of the first anime i've watched (probably most anime fans have too). As with Akame ga Kill, I feel like the anime was really rushed, and could of had more episodes explaining alot of things in a little more detail.

I see. I don't think there's anything cringy or anything to be ashamed of copying a review since at the end of the day it was your review, to begin with, and you're also the one who wrote it, so no worries there.

I understand if you don't want to spoil anything while making a review since it is one of the rules. For me, though it's hard to criticize a piece of media when I try to avoid spoilers, and when I try not to include any, I just sound way too vague. I just usually include a warning somewhere at the beginning of my reviews so I don't ruin other people's experiences, but it's still up to the writer on how they write a review.

And about anime fans pushing others to watch or read a piece of media, isn't that annoying? It was the same for me with FMA. I know it's a good anime but the hype and the feeling of obligation to watch the most highly acclaimed anime right now really didn't make me enjoy the show. I wish I could have just found it on Netflix not knowing its status cause I know I'll enjoy it like how I enjoyed Demon Slayer (Despite DS's mediocre writing).

And yeah, pretty much everyone hates anime elitists. The majority of them are also really pretentious, claiming that their favorites are objectively good yet fail to justify their opinions.

And about SEL, you don't have to feel obligated to watch it right away, just when you feel like it. The obligation of rewatching a series due to someone's comment having opposing ideas about a certain work might also tarnish your view on said work. I just wanted to bring SEL up since I enjoy conversations where two people have different views and give each other their opinions. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy SEL when you decide to rewatch it again, and if you don't - well we have different opinions after all haha.

Hey, what can I say... Some of the things on my list are things I saw a long time ago. I probably couldn't tell you what half of it was about.
Hope your feelings are doing better though. ;)

That being said, I actually attempted continuing Demon Slayer yesterday. I started with the last episode I watched, and was reminded why I didn't like it.
I had forgotten my annoyance with the bad humour.
The idea was that I could just skip through all the never-ending battle scenes, but skipping through the obnoxious attempts at humour would be too disruptive to watching the series.

I am a little curious about where the story is headed, but there's just way too much filler (fighting and bad humour) in-between.

I don't think I would give Elfen Lied a 10/10 today, but whatever rating I'd give it it would be better than Demon Slayer.

But seriously, do you find the humour in this show funny? I couldn't take more from ep 14. If you wonder what I'm talking about, watch from about 18:30 and until the ending. That had me fed up. That yellow hair dude must be the worst and most annoying character ever.

There's a live action movie adaptation that is surprisingly good. Less disturbing but good.

In a way the Fan Service doesn't bother me, I have seen many things even worse that they do with women(western series//film for example), besides that on Twitch I had shown my mum a streamer that I like the most and in the recommended ones we had some recommendations of women being sexualised being that I never looked for any channel like that, but Demon Slayer attracted me precisely in EP 01 that shocked me a lot and in NNT ep 01 I also saw that it looked interesting, the fight scenes I particularly loved, but the lowest score I have ever I gave on the site was NNT 3 for the bad animation and many cliches in the story, in NNT 4 there were several good plot twists in 6 eps//24 and animation improved a little, in the first 3 eps I was already thinking about dropping again, I literally follow with some steps of notes '' animation, sounds, history, characters, how much I enjoyed it, how much I was entertained and how much bored I spent watching '' maybe I'll have another chance for Boku no hero in the future, after you say that. .. but currently I'm full of anime to watch ....
I love Dark Fantasy or gore // extreme violence but that doesn't mean that I support it in real life, I'm very pacifist lol

-About the 3 eps rule I see how much from 0-10 I saw on the eps from score 4 down I already think about dropping the anime, even because for a new anime the ep 01 needs to be very impactful

PS : About the Fan Service of NNT 1 and 2 already said in the tags that NNT 1 and 2 was in the tag ''ecchi(translation : Pervert)'' so literally people should expect something perverted,But don't think I'm an ''edgy teen'' I just like peculiar things that people wouldn't like, for example extreme difficulty in games

P.S : What I hate most about shonens or seinens and that '' good people '' for the most part don't even die, has only a sense of danger but just that and sometimes not even '' bad people '' die ... Akame ga kill is the best anime for me, in addition to the magnificent fight, very good story and the feeling of losing some character that you really love, feeling of danger and not really knowing who will die in the fight
