In your mind what's makes a good epic fantasy anime.

Massive World-building?
Well, detailed power system?
Interesting lore?
High and impactful stakes?
Engaging politics?

These are the elements that make a worthwhile fantasy anime. Vinland Saga, The Heroic Legend of Arslan and Hunter x Hunter are great example of fantasy series that follow the requirements of an epic fantasy setting.
Sadly now and then we get a handful of bad fantasy anime that fails to have elements however very rarely do we get a downright horrendous fantasy series that not only is incapable of doing at meeting the basic requirements of a fantasy anime but also frequently treats the viewer like idiots read more

A1 pictures have come a long way since they produced their first show Big Windup in 2007. Ever since then the studio has produced numerous animes that were based on Light Novels, Video Games, and Manga. Some of their popular works are Sword Art Online, Your Lie in April, Fairy Tail, The Idolm@ters, Black Butler and Anohana. Despite all of that I've partially never been a fan of their works because their works seem to suffer from bad execution.

When heard that Kaguya Sama was going to be produced by A1 Pictures I expected it to be another A1 trainwreck filled with pretty colours with no read more

Let's rewind back to the golden era of western cartoons, the 2000s. You had a bunch of fun, creative and clever cartoons that were filled with heart and passion. Some of my favorite cartoons growing include Ben 10 as well its sequel Alien Force Phineas and Ferb, Kim Impossible, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Codename Kids Next Door and Teen Titans.
Too bad that western cartoon has become a cesspool of shit in recent years. Sure I heard there were a couple of decent to good cartoon series to come out in the 2010s but for every one good cartoon you have to deal read more

Soul Eater is one of my favorite shounen series of all time. Ever since my first viewing, the show has been a strong favorite of mine due to its compelling and humorous character cast. Fantastic world-building, atmospheric visuals, kickass and a well-thorough out plot. Sure, the cheesy ending and a couple of unresolved plot threads have much to be desired, but I was still satisfied with what I watched.
When I heard that Soul Eater was getting a new anime in 2014 I was hyped as I watched to see Maka and her crew kicking ass and taking souls again, adapting the rest of the read more

After watching Fire Force, my eyes were open to the fact that this show was very lacklustre. The pacing was a mess, and the writing was painfully bad that relied on cliches and most of the characters were just as interesting as eating cereal. It may have a good English dub and the production values were pretty but they didn't save the anime for being shallow.

It's such a shame really because Fire Force was one of my anticipated anime of 2019 as it was coming from the same creator that gave us one of the most iconic shounen's of the last 2 decades, Soul Eater read more

Fire Force was my most anticipated anime of 2019. As a person who loves Soul Eater, I was looking forward to seeing another of Atsushi' works animated in its beautiful and charming glory. I really wanted to love Fire Force just how I loved Soul Eater.
I genuinely don't know what happened to Atsushi between the years 2013 and 2015 because I felt like degraded as a writer and a comedian between the 2-year gap of Soul Eater and Fire Force and it really shows from his character handling especially with the females, story structure, pacing and writing.

The biggest problem you will notice right out the read more

What makes a romcom anime good? Is it the show's ability to present relatable characters, is it the strong character chemistry or maybe is the fantasising love journey that is filled with strong character development, emotion and thematic exploration?
1994’s Toei Animation Marmalade Boy fits the bill. Marmalade Boy is a special and rare breed. It takes all the elements that the genre has established in the past and manages to not only to enhance those elements. It also creates its own elements that would appear in later romcoms anime down the line. Add up this show’s fantastic balance of journey and destination elements of a read more

Saying the iseaki genre has overstayed its welcome in recent years is an understatement.

Once upon a time, the isekai used to be a respective genre for the anime medium. Many of isekai anime that came out before 2016 range from good to great. Some of my favourites being Escaflowne, Fushigi Yuugi and El Hazard. Unfortunately ever since Konosuba and Re:Zero the isekai genre has rapidly gone downhill in terms of quality. Not only various isekai anime since Re:Zero were fundamentally bad in every way, but they take such a mockery of the genre. Instead of exploring fascinating worlds, stories and characters we get horrendous dere read more

Ouran High School Host Club was the first Shoujo anime I have watched and I absolutely loved IT. It took me by surprise just how amazingly written and charming it was when I first watched it back in 2010. It was the first anime I ever purchased on DVD and it was one of my favourites along with stuff with Code Geass, Clannad, Soul Eater, Toradora, Slayers and Hunter x Hunter 1999.

Since then, I wanted to see how the show holds up since my first watch as I have watched a lot of shoujo anime since then and I wanted to see how well Ouran read more

This review will contain minor spoilers.

2019 has been an interesting year for anime. It was the year that gave us such great shows like Dororo, Kaguya Sama Love is War, Beastars. High Score Girl 2, Skilled Teaser Takagi San 2 and The Promised Neverland but at the same time it gave such disasters like Fairy Gone, Domestic Girlfriend and The Seven Deadly Sins 3 done by Studio Deen. We also saw the positive decline of the isekai genre thanks to stuff like Isekai Cheat Magician, Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest, Wise Man Grandchild and that unbearable long isekai show that featured the MC read more
