A little introduction
The reason why I got to enjoy anime is beacuse it's a kind of entertainment that I couldn't get from video games, sports, or regular TV shows and movies. Even if anime has all it's specific tropes and cliches, it feels less...restrictive, animation in general can convey feeling and emotions in ways live action cannot.
As a kid, I was more of the serious type, I never actually had fun while watching something, but anime somehow does that for me. It's never to late to have fun I guess.
Besides anime, I like watching esports, TV shows and playing video games (currently obsessed with osu!)... inb4 I'm just a regular kid with a normal life but suddenly one day everything changed xd
If there was a way I could describe myself, it's that I am very self aware but I don't actively do anything to improve myself as a person beacuse I am too lazy :p
Generally I like to be critical, but not go too far, beacuse nothing is 100% perfect, ESPECIALLY in anime. I try to balance out personal enjoyment with objective analysis when rating an anime. The way my scores translate into words in most cases (but not everytime, I am actively thinking about better descriptions for the ratings) is as follows:
1: Something so horrible I want to erase from my memory.
2: Repulsive. it screams from the bottom of it's lungs: Kill me, turn me off, I hate myself! It's so bad that it's not even funny. I mean seriously, it takes some effort to keep watching it.
3: Garbage, the only reason to finish it is either curiosity or to laugh at how bad it is.
4: Bad either in a regular sense, or just painfully mediocre.
5: Mediocre but not unwatchable. It's right at the line between me wanting to keep watching it beacuse I don't have anything better to do and turning it off beacuse it's just not that interesting. Not worth rewatching.
6: It's ok in general. It might be boring or stupid, but has some redeeming qualities, having some moments where it shines, but only some times, it's still mostly average. There is some enjoyment value in it... just barely.
7: Pretty good, serviceably good. It's something that I enjoyed for the most part, but isn't very outstanding,or it's inconsistent in quality, or there was something specific about it that irritated me and didn't make me rate it higher.
8: Great, something that I was pleased with throughout, gets many aspects right, and doesn't have big dips in quality, with flaws that can be overlooked. It's really good, entertaining, but there are better shows out there surely...
9: Excellent, something that I had a blast watching, that kept me hooked in, and which at it's high points is amazing. It's very close to being a ten, it can be impactful and definelty something worth revisiting, but it doesn't give you the visceral feeling you get when you know you've seen something truly extraoridnary.
10: Fantastic, an anime so good it blew me away. It pulls you in and wakes emotions from you like not every anime does, and sticks with you long after you finish it. A 10/10 can be tricky to describe, generally it's just as enjoyable as a 9, but it achieves greater things from my point of view. It has to go beyond objective rational thinking. After you finish it, you get an instant and deep feeling that doesn't leave room for doubts: This is "10/10". It doesn't have to be objectively perfect, but it certainly has to feel like it for me.
I tend to change my rating of a show at any moment if after further reflection I realise it deserves another one. Also in my anime list, I like to adjoin to my ratings some thoughts about the anime to specifically say what I liked or disliked about it, or at least give an overall idea if it's too much to write, so you can also look into that.
I also like Visual Novels. My VN list:
