I spent a long time blindly disregarding anime as weird and not for me. That all changed in 2015, when some of my more weebish friends introduced me to what are now some of my favorite shows. I've basically been finding more and more stuff to watch ever since, eager to see what else this medium has to offer.
Since I didn't grow up with anime like I did with a lot of other nerdy things, I don't consider myself as well-versed in it, but I believe I've gained a stronger understanding and appreciation for it, more so after venturing out to different genres and styles.
My scores are primarily based on my enjoyment. I tend to only seek out and watch shows that I think I will like, as well as ones that seem interesting due to their premise and/or following. In general, everything that's a 6 or below is something I initially thought would be better than it actually was, and everything that's a 7 or above either met or exceeded my initial expectations.
My main reason for dropping a show is if it's failing to hold my interest, and I begin to suspect whatever's awaiting me at the last episode will not have been worth the time to get there. This is why a good number of my drops are incomplete adaptations. I also only score a drop if I believe I got a strong enough sense of it from what I watched.
If you scroll through my list, you'll probably notice a good number of shows with the tag "Dub Approved". This doesn't necessarily mean that the show's dub is a better experience than the sub, but rather, that it's an acceptable substitute for those who prefer dubs.
