Thing is they didn't have 4 episodes. They decided to make 4 episodes and leave it at that. I am not okay with it, and their creation should be criticized.
The concept of the suicide was entirely missing from the sequel, despite it being the sole reason for Kaizaki Arata's ReLife program and the one thing he always carried with him.
There are 2 major suicide related events that were essential story wise. First one was altered in the adaptation. The scene where Hishiron tightens Arata's tie. He gets a flashback of his senpai's hanging and ends up hitting Hishiron, physically hurting her.
The 2nd one is a major event and a pain for me to explain, but I went thru the trouble and searched you a picture of what happened.
I recommend reading the manga for further detail on how much weight her suicide carried.
