I had the pleasure of watching the original higurashi when I was in my early twenties and the combination of the art style plus the story was an experience that goes far beyond these two recreation series. It makes me sad that anyone who gets into the higurashi storyline watches these two abominations prior to actually seeing what higurashi is really about. the main villain all along. The very reason Rika had to suffer so much, but Satako was somehow able to watch 100 years worth of her best friends suffering and we're supposed to pretend it was this evil "witch" Satako based on how they ended the series, not the real Satako, whom made those heartless decisions. I think the art style delivered in the original gave Higurashi its notoriety. The same studio that did Konosuba as far as I can recall, who also did the original Higurashi, did the series justice. I think they were a perfect fit for the original series. The saddest thing to me was watching the final episode look like a Naruto wannabe remake with Sasuke and Naruto punching each other until their feelings reached one another. We spent the entire series watching remakes of what we already knew for basically this episode alone, episode 15. I still cried at the end because I love these characters and everything that drew me to Higurashi in the first place. I really hated it when Satoko snapped her fingers as if to return to her original self because that in itself broke my heart. I don't understand why they took the direction they did with this story, why the main cast (Keichii, Mion, Rena, Shion) cut out of so much of this series just for such pointless recreation and melodrama. If you're watching the remakes for the first time maybe it makes sense to you, but for somebody who grew up on the original Higurashi story and fell in love with it, it's really hard to say anything positive about the finale of this series. I highly suggest everyone to to watch the original two series and get a real feel for what Higurashi No Naku Koro No is about.

I really can't come up with the words to convince you to watch this anime, but if I wanted to describe my first reaction to it with two words, I think I would choose: "Holy %@$%". I think you get the picture. Absolutely amazing! From the first episode I was hooked, and it only gets more incredible as you continue.
This series sets itself apart from every action based anime I've ever seen, with incredibly detailed animation to support every fight scene. They are not afraid to use crude language or display gory violence, and it's one of the most refreshing things about this series

- a great change of pace. The anime itself doesn't really have a plot, but rather each episode is a short story in itself, that feels like its moving in the right direction. Basically, if your a fan of Cowboy Bebop, then this series will make you think less of it :P It is generally played out in the same manner, but I found Lagoon to be a lot more intense. The fight scenes do not fail to impress. Whats even more impressive, is their use of humor in a lot of moments you wouldn't expect any.
Each of the main characters are given good character development, but most of the focus lies on Revy and Rock. If you like the bad boy types, like Spike Spiegel, then you haven't met his evil twin sister, Revy. She makes other villains look like fairy's frollicking in the grassy meadows. Her personality is dominitive, crude, brash, violent, and just downright scary, but she does show a softer side - roughly 15 seconds per episode! She can go from the cute girl you want to get to know, to the nightmare you wish did not exist in the blink of an eye. Revy makes this series what it is and then some.
If you aren't a big fan of gunfights, I think this series would change your attitude towards them. Each scene is brilliantly animated, with a large attention to detail. Despite its lack of a real plot, they do an excellent job with each episode in terms of their story. Although it is heavy on the action scenes, they do an excellent job of giving you plenty of interesting conversations, and oh so much humor in a one of a kind form. Hope you enjoy japanese curse words, because you will surely pick them up after this series!
I found the music in this series to be a great fit for each scene, keeping the momentum high - especially the opening and ending themes, which compliment the feel of the series well. The cuing of the soft music at the end of each episode, rolling into the credits, seemed like something simple, but it really brought out an interesting feel that I haven't seen used anywhere else.
In the end, I was simply blown away. If you want something to wake you out of the normal tear jerking, emotion filled anime, this one will propel you onto the battlefield in style. As mentioned, if you are a fan of Cowboy Bebop, I can guarantee your attachment to this series. I think the only thing I didn't enjoy about this series was the number next to the word "Episodes". Good old number twelve, inferior to thirteen, superior to eleven, just wasn't enough in my book. Even with a series devoted to no real plot, you can't help but demand more out of it - the episodes are too damn interesting.

If you have seen the series, and enjoy manga, then this manga will tickle your fancy. I assumed it would be generally the same story as told in the series, but was pleasantly surprised by an entirely different approach. Some elements from the series are kept in tact, such as the relationship between Eureka and Renton, but as far as everything else goes, it's like reading an alternate ending.

This is an excellent addition to the already amazing anime, and surely worth the read. The emotions felt during the series remain throughout this manga, which really grasped what Eureka Seven is all about.

It does not come as a surprise to me that this anime is the favorite of many. I have never seen a series so beautifully animated until I witnessed this one.
To keep it short and sweet, TTGL has more action then your brain can process! The series is full of interesting ideas, amazing fighting scenes, enjoyable humor, incredible character development, small romance and so much more. I found the music to be particularly awesome throughout this series as well. It's not very often that an anime series music truly captures each scene in the best of ways, but this one did not fail to do

I feel the strongest point of this anime is its characters, and the development of them. You don't see many series actually progressing the age of it's characters throughout it, and even more impressive was that it was done in a 27 EP format! Each of the main characters was well explored, and many of them have an overwhelmingly driving force that keeps you glued to your screen. My greatest appreciation goes out to Kamina, who had the largest influence on everyone in the series, and he honestly just makes you feel motivated, even in real life :o
The 10's are there for a reason, well deserved, and need to find a way to rearrange themselves into a number beyond comprehension. If I wasn't so emotionally attached to Eureka Seven, I'd say this one wins my heart. This is a can't miss series, well worth your precious minutes!

For me, Slayers was one of the most humorous series to watch. It really starts off with a bang, keeping the mood lighthearted, with plenty of enjoyable, comedic moments. Throughout the series, Lina, the main character, and Gourry, her guardian, work really well together in terms of combat and keeping the mood upbeat.
The series has a good deal of action, with sorcery, sword fighting, dragons, you name it. Although the action scenes are nothing compared to what we see in today's anime selection, it held its own seeing as it is an older series. The music in the series was appropriate for the

scenes, but it definitely wasn't what I've come to expect in that department. Each character develops nicely, and you learn a good deal about them throughout the series, with enough to keep you wanting more.
I felt that the series had a pretty solid story, but this was not an anime you watch for the storyline. The real enjoyment factor would be the relationship between the main characters like Lina, Gourry, and Zelgadis. If you enjoy an anime chock full of funny, with some pretty solid action, character development, and storyline, then I think Slayers would be a good fit for you! Don't forget that there are a few continuations to the series as well if you enjoy the first.
Just as a side-note as it wasn't mentioned - the voice actor for Zelgadis was Dan Cronin up until EP. 18, which transferred to Crispin as Cronin went MIA, apparently.

I felt the need to give a review on this series as it is one that has managed to toy with my emotions. This series is a beautiful one from beginning to end, with many cute, gun toting girlys. You can't help but fall in love with them at first glance, especially my personal favorite Henrietta (incredibly adorable). That is until the cuteness atmosphere is broken by her violin case being opened, only to reveal a machine gun, of which she (Henrietta) wields quite nicely I might add! feel it is lacking in this department just slightly. As you get further into the series, you will learn more about why the girls are the way they are, what the agency is all about, and soon fall victim to affection for the adorable gun toting terrorist agents.
I would certainly recommend watching this series with the Japanese audio if you do not mind reading English subtitles. I have enjoyed it in both English dub and Japanese, and the series has a better feel to it for me with the Japanese voice actors. Besides, hearing the word "Hai" (Meaning Yes in Japanese), is much more adorable in the Japanese form; and believe me, you will hear it a lot! The opening and ending music in the series is excellent as well, which isn't always notable in anime.
One negative thing I can comment on is the length of the series itself, being only thirteen episodes long. Any short series are always tough for me to watch, as you just start to become familiar with the characters, engrossed in the story, and before you know it, its over. Thankfully there is a second season for this series, titled "Gunslinger Girl - Il Teatrino". If you are ready to let your emotional guard down, and bring these girls into your heart, then I think this series is right for you!

I would like to start off by saying Eureka Seven is hands down my all time favorite anime series. From beginning to end it managed to keep me glued to the computer screen without so much as a blink of the eye. Sure, I lost my eyesight after watching the series from beginning to end due to the lack of blinking, but all I can say is; worth it, totally worth it! many thoughts and opinions after the series ends. With it's oh so lovable characters, awesome storyline, action, adventure, and love/feelings between the main characters and more, it is hard not to get emotionally attached.
One of the most notable things about this series, in my opinion at least, is the music. I have never seen an anime series use a more amazing selection of music for the openers, endings, and throughout the series in general. They truly put it together in an indescribable fashion. The music in this series really sets the mood for each scene, whether it be emotional, or action based. They have a selection for EVERYTHING, and none of them disappoint!
I often wonder how the series has affected others, as it has had a great impact on myself. I for one had to re-watch the series at least two more times after my first taste, and was still left unsatisfied. Not due to the series itself lacking anything, but the sole attachment that was created between myself and the characters of the series. Each one of them leaves you wanting more, and the emotions felt during the series (laughter, sadness, happiness, etc) do not fade after the series concludes. For this reason, it has become the most memorable and cherished anime of mine. No other anime has affected me so deeply, emotions wise, and for that, I am grateful. It sorta gives a new outlook on life, just watching Eureka and Renton, go through the good times, and the bad. This series also gave birth to one of my favorite sayings, that I like to look to in all aspects of life. "Don't beg for things, do it yourself, or else you won't get anything". There is a lot of truth to the statement, and plays a big role in the series itself.
For those who haven't seen the series, I highly recommend you take the time to watch it, it will not disappoint. When I first finished the series back in 2007, it left me with an odd void in my life, like I was missing something. That something turned out to be more Eureka Seven. I scoured the net, dying to find out whether or not they were in production for a new series, a movie, anything, and only found dead ends and rumors. Then, in April, the movie was announced, and that void I felt for so long was finally put to rest. Just knowing something more is around the corner keeps the desire to re-watch the series again and again at bay (tho I have seen it more times then I dare admit). So in the end, I wonder, how will Eureka Seven affect you? Don't pass this series up, you will regret it! I'd recommend the English version personally, as I feel the voice actors really nailed it, but the Japanese version does shed light on a few things you might not have understood in the English.
