I started to have an interest in Anime with the Anime Wave in the 1990s. Like a lot of kids at the time, I was developing my tastes in Anime without really realizing it (I liked Pokemon, DBZ and Sailor Moon).
As I continued to watch more and more I realized the many different genres and how amazing Anime is. I make it a point to go back and watch all the classics and movies/ series that I have missed. But I also look and see what is currently being produced to stay current.
I would say that watching Haruhi Suzumiya in college was what really turned me into a casual fan into a super fan of Anime. At the time I didn't realize that they were different tropes for Anime characters and some set genres.
I have also been a life long Pokemon fan and still enjoy playing all of the handheld games. Recently I have played and beat Pokémon Yellow again with the hopes that I could transfer Pokémon to the new Pokémon Ultra Moon game.
In terms of my favorite types of Anime, I really like Slice of Life.
I am making a point to go back and write reviews on the Anime that I have watched so that I can help give back to the Anime that has meant so much to me.
Despite my love for Anime, I don't get into Manga much. I do have all of the DBZ Manga comics. I will probably get Manga to the Anime that I really like because I want to support the artists and storytellers, but I haven't explored this yet.
