A bit late to the party, gomen.

Konasuba the movie is the BEST adaptation I have seen of a light novel in sometime. It takes all the banter, comedy, fan service and writing that you've come to expect from the series and dials it up to 100. TL;DR, if you like Konasuba, you will LOVE this film. It's hilarious throughout

By now, you surely know what things to expect from Konasuba, and a deep or intricate plot is not one of them. The joy in this series comes from the laughs and the overall good time you have watching it. The movie is no different.

Simply put, Babylonia is an amazing experience. The Fate series often turns newcomers off because they get confused about the watching order of the series. Much of this is blown out of proportion as the series is pretty straightforward. But, there’s definitely no need to worry this time around as all of the FGO episodes are stand alone. There are references to the other parts and some lore, but it won’t really impact your experience if you don’t play the game. I do encourage you to Watch episode 0 and potentially the first order OVA as well, though.

Now that the backstory is out the way. read more

SAO is a series that for some reason, a loud minority of westerners love to hate on despite it being one of the most successful media franchises in Japan(where it matters). Alicization as an arc, particularly the second half (war of underworld) fixes a lot of the issues that loud minority have with the series and with the story.

Alicization War of Underworld is by far the best installation of SAO to date. There was never any doubt in my mind that it would be, having read the LN. After the events of the end of Alicization, Kirito is left incapacitated and in the care of read more

No, it's not just Kirito and Asuna or a Guilty Crown rip off. This is criminally underrated.

Assassins Pride is its own unique thing and truthfully, of the many anime i have seen over two decades, I have not seen anything like it. I absolutely love the setting, plot and overall tone of the series. It has a darker aesthetic, as you would expect from a seinen series and it really adds a lot to the experience.

Asassins Pride follows Melida Angel and her instructor Kufa Vampir who was originally sent in to kill her but ends up becoming attached to her, as they try to read more

Wasted potential, the anime. Prodigies starts off with a unique premise. Similar to Log Horizon, it focuses on the economic and political challenges that would arise in isekai. Instead of giving us an overpowered generic MC, we get someone who similar to Senku in Dr.Stone, uses his wit to confront and overcome obstacles facing him. Now, while the premise sounds very unique and that it will offer some unique magic, the show fails to deliver that. Some have said that it drops off after two episodes, for me, it was never on to even be able to drop off. The show is incredibly dull, boring read more

Shinchou Yuusha may genuinely be the funniest anime I have ever seen. Of the numerous Isekai airing this season(Autumn 19), this is by far my favourite. Why? Well, in my opinion, similar to Log Horizon, Konasuba and soon to be released Mushoku Tensei, it takes standard isekai tropes and does something unique with them. Hero has been isekai'd to another world and instead of going straight out to find adventure or fame, he is extremely mistrustful of everyone and everything, leading him to be "overly cautious" in his preparations for everything.

While the plot is not groundbreaking or something truly innovative, it is a unique read more

Babylon (Anime) add (All reviews)

I've never seen a detective anime before and man I'm glad I gave this one a shot. I've never seen Psycho pass, but apparently the two are very similar. Babylon follows a detective on his quest to solve a series of murders which lead to him uncovering a plot bigger than anyone could have ever imagined. The series does an excellent job of addressing topics like Morality, Euthanasia, Legality, etc.

What particularly I love about this series is its mature writing, tone and direction. It is a seinen and it shows. It truly feels like you're watching a live action detective film. I can not praise read more

Abilities Average is one of my favourite light novel series. So, when I heard it was getting an anime adaptation, needless to say, I was extremely happy. However, I quickly realised that as with many of my favourite light novel adaptations this year *cough cough Arifureta, the studio was going to butcher the source material, skip entire arcs and change the story around completely.

Now, that's a big deal for me as someone who is a LN reader, but if you go into this as an anime only, you may have a totally different experience and opinion. However, for me this was a huge let read more

Fairy Gone is a series that has got a lot of flack, some of it is justified, which I'll touch on in a bit, but much of it is exaggerated hyperbole. Despite, the criticism, it remains my favourite series of the year.

Fairy Gone 2 has improved a lot of the issues I had with the first cour, such as a the direction, cuts, fight scenes, link dumping and the overall feeling of not caring that I often had when watching the series. Don't get me wrong, I love Marlya and she's in my top 10, but the other characters like Ver, Free, the supporting cast read more

An all around great Harem comedy.

Bokuben doesn't do anything particularly groundbreaking with its story or organisation. Despite that, I would still not call it "trash" as some others have. Bokuben is great at what it's meant to do, and that's be a harem slice of life comedy that provides an escape route for Otaku escapism. It's why series like these get so popular in Japan and part of the reason for a declining birth rate, but that's another story.

Bokuben 2 follows in the footsteps of Bokuben 1 and offers a continuation of the back and forth race between waifus. Similar to Bokuben season read more
