So how long have you gotten into anime? as you can see, I've known anime for ages.
Kurt_Irving Jan 7, 2018 9:54 AM
You're welcome and I forgot to add the got part, but anyway, it's been ages since I last watched Samurai Champloo. I watched it on TV back in 2005, but rewatched the series on Veoh a couple of years later. I was about to graduate from high school at around that time.

Speaking of last decade's anime, I encourage you to watch Solty Rei. I remember I used to watch that series on Comcast ages ago and then found out that it is so underrated. I also had Record of Lodoss War, Madlax, Full Metal Panic, Argento Soma and even Nadia on cable TV too.

I'd like to make an confession to you...
I ate the last piece of muffin, 3 years ago at a children party!
I know it was immature of me of eating it, but it tasted so good!!!
You can understand me, can't you?
So I hope you didn't lose much respect of me...
What was the point of all this, well you were at the party wanting the muffin but since there was not anymore left you got a rice crackers instead!
Now that I told you the truth I can finally move on without any guilt :D

The TV series are a bit of a mixed bag. Part I is my favorite, and the best at establishing character relationships, but it starts off a bit dark and Lupin himself acts like a bit of a psychopath at times. The tone changed about halfway through the series to be a bit lighter, more along the lines of the later TV specials. Still, episodes 4 (showing what would happen if Zenigata successfully captured Lupin) and 5 (Lupin's first meeting with Goemon) are essential.

Part 2 is way longer than it needs to be, and gets a bit too goofy, but there are a couple dozen really good episodes in it, plus the only instance of there being some sort of continuity in the series (the first episode of Part II is directly linked to the original series). Part 3 is much more consistent, but the problem is there's no episode in Part 3 as good as the best episodes of Part II. That and the character designs are a bit off putting. Finally, Part IV is fun, not as good as the first series but you wouldn't miss out on much if you just watched Part 1, Part IV and then a few episodes from the middle series from time to time.

There's also the Fujiko spinoff series, which isn't something I personally enjoyed too much. Tries way too hard to be "R-rated" and mature. It falls flat on its face in my opinion because there wasn't any effort to make Fujiko's character any less one dimensional. Jigen's Gravestone is a bit better, but I'll always prefer the happy medium between silly and serious present in most of the TV specials.

Noticed in the recent updates sidebar that you finished Napoleon's Dictionary. I can highly recommend the Lupin movie "The Fuma Conspiracy". Also, "Crisis In Tokyo" is my favorite out of the specials aside from First Contact.
And if you haven't seen em already, episodes 145 and 155 of Lupin Part 2 were directed by Hayao Miyazaki. #145 is spectacular though I never liked 155 as much as others do. Episode 99 is my personal favorite out of Part 2. There's also episode #151, which imitates the animation style of Miyazaki Lupin but is a fun episode in its own right.
