Also, I feel I really should mention, since it's a big part of my otaku identity, Touhou is amazing and the overall doujin culture surrounding it is really interesting and worth getting into. If I were to count it as an anime (WHICH IT ISN'T), I'd probably put it in that batch of 20-24 that's all tied. It's really good. :))
(*)God.... I can't believe I knocked 3-gatsu down from 2 to fucking 7. I even called it tied with K-On for the longest time. I was *so* confident it'd be staying there. But as my life changed, and as I became a happier person in general.. suddenly the bouncy, boundlessly wholesome moe shows resonated with me more strongly than Rei's depression.
STILL A VASTLY INCOMPLETE WORK-IN-PROGRESS, NOT ACCURATE AT ALL, NOR IN ORDER YET.

S2: #4, 8-9(possibly, need to rewatch), 15, 20, 26-27
Hugtto: #4, 15-20
This one is continued from the top 10 on MAL (listed below), so this is my most to least favorite starting from 11th. NOT UP-TO-DATE
11. Aoba (New Game!)
12. Nene (New Game!)
13. Simon (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann)
14. Reigen (Mob Psycho 100)
15. Hazuki (Ojamajo Doremi)
16. Erika (Heartcatch Precure)
17. Yuki (Gakkougurashi!)
18. Bocchi (Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu)
19. Hikari (Demi-chan wa Kataritai)
20. Kaos-chan (Comic Girls)
21. Akari (Yuru Yuri)
The rest of these are miscellaneous categories, none in any particular order. They're *vaguely* in order of preference but the gaps in preference between two different things could vary between not different at all, to being on completely different levels. It's too hard to try to put some of them above the other. :/
Ume Aoki (Hidamari Sketch, Madoka Magica)
Yuusuke Matsuo (Yama no Susume & iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls)
Namori (Endro and Yuru Yuri)
Haruko Iizuka (Endro, Gakkougurashi, Tamayura)
Yoshihiko Umakoshi (Heartcatch Precure, Ojamojo Doremi, Casshern Sins, MHA [tho these ones just look like the manga]))
Yukiko Horiguchi (K-On!, Tamako Market, 22/7, Lucky Star)
Akio Watanabe (Monogatari, The World God Only Knows, The SoulTaker)
Ai Kikuchi (New Game, Mikakukin de Shinkoukei, &... Rainbow????)
Animators (NOT A COMPREHENSIVE LIST, AND DON'T TAKE THE ORDER TOO SERIOUSLY):
Kou & Yoh Yoshinari
Chiyoko Ueno (for her AD work, one of the more cartoony ones while being one of the most detailed you could get in anime. Def gonna add more KyoAni artists here as I read up on them more.
Tatsuya Satou (also a kyoani animator, working with their Animation Do division, one of the most versatile animators able to depict anything from subtle expressions to bombastic explosions of emotion)
Nobuyuki Mitani (who quit but I think he's back now, hopefully in a much healthier work environment!!!)
Yuusuke Matsuo (less flashy ex-kyoani vet, but an AMAZING chief AD who does amazing corrections)
Ryouma Ebata (really for his character acting and Ebata Walk, but the fighting cuts are good too)
Using Fantano's idea, each number consists of three different levels: light, decent, strong. Ratings can be just one number (e.g. Light 6), be in between different levels (e.g. Decent 7 to strong 7), or lead from one number to another (e.g. Strong 7 to a light 8). This rating system is just vague enough to account for some fluctuating opinions, but still precise enough to get an idea of my average opinion of a show.
1 is for series that I revile and offer nothing but things that I hate.
5 is for series that don't offer anything bad, but don't offer anything good either. Shows that offer an equal amount of good and bad things fall into this category as well.
9 is for series that are of exceptional quality, but may not be in that special camp of shows that are personally meaningful to me (though the strong 9s definitely are).
10 is for series that taught me something about myself, and the way I look at the world around me. It's a show that I would urge someone to watch if they would ever want to know who I am as a person. It doesn't mean that a show is flawless, just that those flaws are so minuscule compared to its positives that they're negligible to me.
All other numbers are just a gradient between the above numbers, and don't really need to be explained
1st Anime Completed! (08/06/16) — Your Name (tho i wasn't really into anime at this point lol)
100th Anime Completed! (01/19/19) — 3-Gatsu no Lion
PLEASE WATCH MORE KIDS ANIME THEY ARE SO FUCKING GOOD JUST WATCH ALL OF AIKATSU AND PRECURE AND PRIPARA AND PRICHAN ITS ONLY LIKE THOUSANDS OF EPISODES ITS NO BIG DEAL HAHAHAHA

And for some older campy action romps I'll probably watch Slayers & You're Under Arrest, tho they're long so I gotta clear out some of the longer shows on my watchlist first. Also Yume no Crayon Oukoku looks adorable but it's long too
Movies I plan to watch: Okko's Inn, Spriggan, Metropolis, Steamboy, Jin-Roh, Ninja Scroll, Dead Leaves, The Wings of Honneamise, Sword of the Stranger, Eva Rebuilds, The Sky Crawlers, Belladonna of Sadness, Redline, Omae Umasou da na, A Letter to Momo, In This Corner of the World, Miss Hokusai, Doukyuusei, Night is Short, Walk on Girl, Lu Over the Wall, I want to eat your pancreas, Penguin Highway, Children of the Sea, Ride Your Wave, Hello World, Weathering With You, Sora no Aosa wo Shiru Hito yo
and single-episode OVAs (that might as well count as movies).. If I counted multiple-ep. ones this will go on for WAY too long...: Angel's Egg, Minori Scramble!, Asagao to Kase-san.
Non-aired movies (that I won't even be able to see for a few years): Cider no You ni Kotoba ga Wakiagaru, Orbital Era, Chikyuugai Shounen Shoujo (who knows if this is actually a movie tho lol), Umibe no Étranger, Josee, the Tiger and the Fish, Shishigari
and if you think THAT'S a lot, I didn't even MENTION all the Ghibli/Kon/Hosoda movies.. I'll get to them too..... eventually.......
Seasonal shows not mentioned above that I'll get to at... some point..... ordered vaguely from newest to oldest: Adachi to Shimamura, Akudama Drive, Deca-Dence, Great Pretenders, Kaguya-sama, Promised Neverland when 2nd season ends, Yesterday wo Utatte, Kakushigoto, Jujutsu Kaisen after it ends, Higurashi but obvs need to watch the original first, the new Love Live if a 2nd season doesn't get announced soon--if it does, I'll wait for that, Senyoku no Sigrdrifa but it's not high on my priority list, Somali to Mori no Kamisama, 22/7, Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited, the new Show By Rock season but while im at it i might as well rewatch the first and continue onto the 2nd season, Beastars, maybe Cautious Hero, continue Food Wars maybe, Stars Align, Dr. Stone, Granbelm, Carole & Tuesday, Cannon Busters, Demon Slayer, Sarazanmai but I feel like I should watch other Ikuhara works first, Pandora to Akubi looks cute, Kemurikusa looks FUCKING dope idk why im not watching this, Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken, Grand Blue, Asobi Asobase, Harukana Receive, Planet With, Hinamatsuri, Hisone to Maso-tan, Last Period
anyways there's a lot more but this is already way too fucking much
Yeah...... If you can believe it, this is SHORTENED from my list of OVER NINE HUNDRED ENTRIES. AND COUNTING. Yeah. I'm set for life.
Watch this for an introduction to sakuga and some AMAZING creators
I write about most of the anime I watch in the tags/comments of the anime on my list. I know no one reads them, but I love doing it for my own satisfaction! And I'm even a tiny bit proud of the rare bits of analysis that I write!
I also love Touhou but MAL doesn't list doujins and I wanna keep track of the ones I read, so I made my own list here. And go here for my thoughts and summaries of the games themselves.
I also started another list of western cartoons that I watch here.
