I'm glad you enjoyed my review man. Unfortunately I couldn't help you to skip the terrible season but hopefully it will help some other unknowing soul. Just a huge clusterfuck from sadistic and lazy(constant time loop?) writers.
Darkmoq Oct 4, 11:01 AM
I think that's a good summation.

I actually like the "reset" mechanic when it is done right i.e. there are consequences to repeatedly resetting. For example, in a movie like Edge of Tomorrow the protagonist cannot reset forever because the aliens get closer to finding him with each death. In Butterfly Effect when the time travel mechanic is less predictable and traveling back in time requires a ritual rather than just dying. Or POP Sands of Time where resets are limited.

Lots of wasted opportunities. This motherfucker Subaru has the power of God and he spends an episode of S1 doing household chores and gardening. As dumb as that was, the moment that sealed it for me was during his jealous meltdown in the throne room halfway into the series. He lays bare his immaturity and insecurity when he makes a complete ass of himself in front of literally every character introduced thus far. I'm sorry but there's no coming back from that. Many characters start off whiny and immature only to grow throughout a series (e.g. Sinichi from Parasyte and Edward from FMA) but Subaru is basically an 11 year old trapped in the body of an 18 year old. Where do you go from there? Pause the plot for a good 5-6 years to let him catch up? Reintroduce him to society at age 24? I'd imagine Emilia would be married to one of the knights and working on her 1st child by then. Even as a self-insert character, Subaru may hit a little too close to home for some of the Re:Zero fans to allow the anime to be as immersive as it could have been.

Despite ally my complaining I've made it to S2E4.

Right, and when the MC experiences no character growth despite these deaths it is just an insult to the audience.

Thanks a lot! Glad I'm not the only one who disliked the info dump scenes.

Haha. I like your review as well.

That makes me kind of sad. I had hoped the overarching plot would be built up more in S2. I guess I should have known that if there was no character development in the first 25 episodes another 13 weren't likely to help. Bummer.

Well, I watched M3 while a kid, so the only thing I remember is that I liked it. Gonna rewatch it some time and update my opinion.
About Evangelion, I'm far from a fan of it, though I enjoyed the first season. As a fan of mechas, sci-fi and mythology, Evangelion was pretty good; when it comes to endless drama and extremely annoying characters, I very much disliked it. I recommend you to start from episode 2 or 3 and stop right before the last angel, because the beggining and the end are pretty bad. Only if the MC weren't 14 year old dumbsters..

Thank you! S1 kinda sucked. I gave it a 6 which was probably too generous.

It's funny, I finally cracked and started watching S2 yesterday. I felt obligated to out of morbid curiosity. S2 is ranked on par with Monster and Code: Geass and higher than JoJo, and Death Note. DEATH NOTE! Even with the scoring system on MAL being as broken as it is, I wanted to see what all the hype was about.

I am on E3 and I must say my expectations are quite low. Subaru has used his endless buffoonery to expand his harem further. Meanwhile, the one relationship that was slightly developed in S1--Subaru and Rem--was conveniently put on pause when Emilia came back into the picture. They didn't even have the guts to kill Rem off, instead using some stupid sleeping beauty plot contrivance to prevent Subaru from having to pick between the two girls he lead on during S1. Happy to see that Subaru's bipolar episodes have continued into this season as well--he's bawling his eyes out over Rem in one scene then making uncomfortable advances toward Emilia in another (all of which in front of Rem's comatose body). Oh, and we have two brand new villains imported from the Full Metal Alchemist universe. FMA was a good anime...

I dunno...I'll see how far I can get.

We gave a similar rating to 07-Ghost in the end, what is very interesting as your list has some strange similarities with mine. The exceptions would be Fairy Tail, some other shounens and shoujos, to which you gave a much higher rating than me. Yet, I can't really understand some ratings of yours, specially M3: Kuroki no Hagane, Evangelion (I suppose you don't like Mecha and psychological together), SNK and, specially, Seikon no Qwaser. Honestly, the last one made me angry when I saw literal tit-sucking at the very first episode. I mean, you don't really need to justify them, but I'd like to understand why did you rate them as you did.
Aragusuku Sep 23, 11:59 AM
This Blaissreiter anime you finished watching recently looks good, I don't know why it wasn't at my plan to watch list already. What are your opinions on it?
07 Ghost, the anime you're currently watching, is the only Josei anime I've watched and liked in my entire life. I don't remember much about it but it was nice. I think there was a mermaid at a lake or sth like that, its the only scene I recall clearly.
It has nothing to do with the above, but the Assyrian princess from Fate Apocrypha was the only character I liked in the entire show. I wouldn't have dropped it if she was supposed to win
Aragusuku Sep 18, 8:25 PM
Probably, as I haven't seen any previous replies besides the one I'm replying to and your comment from september 16th.

Well, some characters were pretty annoying, such as the robber kids and Iliaster herself. The half-monster dude was also edgy to some extent. Yet, the plot had enough drama (and a well constructed one) to the point it was one of the few anime I almost cried to, or at least felt very emotional. The OST played its job and the plot twists were unpredictable. The relations between the groups and individuals were vivid and full of fair reasons to justify the caracter's roles and thoughts. I also rated it 8 as of what I remember; I'm happy that someone bothered to see an anime I so much enjoyed but never had someone to talk about it.

This Hachi nan tte anime, along with one Isekai about being the 8th son, were 2 animes I deeply regret pronouncing their names. Either way, I see you're watching Mushikago no Cagaster. Many ppl disliked it because of the CGI (definitely not the best out there), yet, to be fair, it was a great show in my opinion, specially to the end. Do you have any opinions on it?
Aragusuku Sep 15, 6:07 PM
I believe we have a similar taste. Most of the animes I've watched you did so as well. May I ask why in the Earth did you rate Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou! a 7? I couldn't watch more than one episode of it

It's kind of like reading fanfiction where the author suddenly decided to take a 180 turn and make everyone OOC.

Btw, what do you think of Nana Maru San Batsu until now? I kind of dislike how they made Inoue only interested in quizes so he could spend time with Mari, whose voice still grates my nerves. In terms of story there isn't much to go on, although it's still likeable I guess
Hiina Aug 10, 2017 10:13 AM
It was horrible. Truly a Deus Ex Machine pull like you said. They made Yaha-kui into something he's not and made a half-god more powerful than a literal god. Also trampled all over the feelings of every adopted child/parents who adopted ever. Seikaisuru Kado will go down in the archives as a huge letdown, all because people were too eager to see money. Yaha-kui did nothing wrong and I'm going to stand by that fact.

I'm not sure whether to rate it a 6 or a 7 considering the start was superb and character designs by Arisaka Ako are always beautiful. I even bought the artbook. The ending just leaves a horrible aftertaste so I'm going to ponder over it for a while
Hiina Aug 8, 2017 5:16 PM
After six weeks of pumping myself up I watched Seikaisuru Kado. Actually, I wrote a huge wall of text about it to you and clicked on Submit Comment, but apparently because it took me over one hour to write MAL shrugged it off and didn't post it. So now I'm left with an intense hatred for the ending and no eloquent way to put it because it's just after 2 AM over here and I'm tired after being angry for two hours, so I'll just go to bed and pray MAL will have posted it tomorrow
