Were you ever playing a video game and your sword broke and you were like "Wow, this is the best thing ever! I love weapon durability in games so much I wish they'd make a whole anime about it!"? No, you weren't, no one has ever thought that, except apparently the person who thought of this show.

This is a very generic anime, it has a cast of character archetypes that pretty much write themselves. The main mechanic is that swords are terrible and break pretty much right away, but this one dude can make katana, which apparently are super durable, only actually he makes weapons ... by magic and they also break after like one hit. I dunno, it's really really silly. Not that real world logic need apply, but being very durable is not a feature of katana compared to other swords.

The show also has more nudity than you'd expect, not inherently a bad thing but it felt pretty weird alongside the tone of this show. Fan service is not a surprise here given the genre, but this has full chest nudity which seemed pretty odd. Probably worth knowing that if your gonna be watching this one with other people, which you shouldn't beacuse it's trash, but still, you're obviously considering it if you are reading this.

Overall it's very mediocre and there are any number of far better anime you could be watching. It's not offensively bad, it's just not actually good in any way.

I was expecting this to be a good one given all the positivity I've seen around it, but honestly I found it to be pretty much trash. It has a nice art style for sure and I don't object to it having a lot of sex/gore etc... but honestly that's all it had. The characters range from generic to mind bendingly stupid and the plot has no angles other than shock, which quickly becomes entierly predictable.

The main comparision that comes to mind for me is Evangelion. This show really really wants to be that but it totaly fails. Sure evangelion is pretty dumb in ... many ways and much as I love it it's obviously quite flawed, but this has next to nothing going for it. [Spoilers follow]

When this show does the whole everyone dies horribly thing you don't give a crap, one of the people we are seemingly supposed to care about literally ate their gran in the last episode and this dosen't address that at all. Sure many innocent folk died, including the love interest character, but anyone who looked at the first half of this story and thought anything else was going to happen really just dosen't know their anime plots. Given how many shows have already done this ending you've got to work on making us like the characters, and this show just put their character archetypes down and assumed we'd naturally care, but character archetypes are not people and we haven't spend nearly enough time with any of these folk to get to like them in any serious way.

Evangelion had flaws, but it spent a long time getting us invested in the characters so that when things went sideways we cared, this fails to do that and without it all it is is flashy visuals. It also seemed to think we hadn't figured out who the super evil guy who lived in apartment 666 really was? Does it think the viewers are like 10 years old? Presumably not given all the demon vaginas.

If you'd told me say five years ago that'd I'd be ranting about how great a show about Chibi high school girls going about their daily lives was then, well, actually, I'd have been watching My Little Pony at the time, so I don't suppose I'd have been surprised.

Anyway, this show is great. It's hilarious, cute, pure and composed almost entirely of A-Grade meme fuel. You should give it a go. It's hard to put my finger on exactly what is so funny about it, but I find that is quite normal with comedy Anime.

If you happen to be from the UK there is the ... added bonus of getting to see the shows take on the UK, which isn't a million miles off, but is still pretty funny. Like, how many rocking horses do you have in your house? What percentage of your belongings were purchased in a tourist tat shop in central London? If you lived in this show, you'd be giving a high number for both of those questions.

This show dosen't need another review. It's great. You should watch it. It starts a bit slow, and some of the stuff around the middle is a little dull, but it's worth it in the end.

Why am I writing a review when this show doesn't need any more reviews? Because I have stuff I'm supposed to be doing and I can't be bothered to do it that's why. Maybe you also have stuff to be doing? I suggest that you watch this instead, I spent my uni days watching anime and sleeping and I still graduated. You should too, it's only slightly crippling to ... your future career goals, just like this show is only slightly likely to send you into a downward spiral of depression and vague confusion over the plot.

Anyway, I should stop writing reviews, they are getting weird and off topic.

This is far and away the best Pokemon movie.

It has some hilariously terrible lines, some of the worst lines I've ever heard, but they are so bad that they are all time classics. I'm talking about the English dub here, I can't promise the subs capture that The Room essence of so bad it's good, and who knows, maybe in the original Japanese they are actually good lines (Who am I kidding?).

It also has a plot that just gets more messed up the more you think about it. It's like the Evangelion of pokemon movies. I see a lot of people calling it heartwarming, ... and yeah, it kinda is but if you actually stop and think about it, it's really not at all.

Anyway. You should watch it, I'm not even entirely joking when I say this is a great movie. It's terrible of course, it's a pokemon movie, but it's also kinda good. Anyway, I have to give it 10/10 for sentimental reasons.
