is vaporwave still around? I remember in 2016 sleeping for 12-18 hours a day (not exaggerating) listening to a bunch of vaporwave, eating food, and this was coincidentally when I got back 'into' anime

Yes it does, I am a huge vaporwave enthusiast. Apologies for the late reply, I haven't been on MAL in a while.

Aliens, FLCL Alternative, Zeta Gundam are some good sequels, mainly because they keep the spirit of the original and move forward in a functional manner, without coasting off of it or recklessly introducing elements that damage the impact or logic of the original, let alone disrespect it.

Geass actually gave me a reason to care about what was going on, and presented itself in a way that I adore. Plus, it was its own original thing, so it didn’t have to worry about violating source material. Diebuster violates Gunbuster’s ending and its word is downright incompatible with that show’s as well, namely with the more FLCL-like aspects of it. That OVA series is a sequel, and all sequels should have respect for the original and try to branch off of without jeopardizing it. If Diebuster was its own thing, I wouldn’t be nearly as harsh on it. I would still not care about what’s going on, and find it badly written, but I doubt I’d hate it.

Back to Geass, I admit that there is some questionable writing, mainly in episode 9 and the last quarter of the first season (second season is a different, worse entity altogether). In its first four episodes, I don’t see much of anything wrong with it outside of us never seeing how the plans are formulated or what goes into preparation (and that gets rectified soon enough anyway). Plus, I adore its over-the-top, theatrical presentation to bits, just like I adore its music to bits.

Having your villains kill cute animals didn't start with Kanbe. Dostoevsky was doing that shit in the 1800s. Look at Smerdyakov from Brothers Karamazov. On the other hand, 2 puppy killings is bizarre. Nothing like that happens in Sound of the Sky or any of his other anime I've watched, but still 2 is a lot.

Greg Ayers does have an odd voice. He also never really changes it. I do love him as Leo in Ghost Stories though. There it actually works quite effectively.

The Redline dub by Funimation is good, and quite amusing. Eva had Spike Spencer, who is far worse than Ayers.
