All ratings are subjective.
Rating explanations:
10: Masterpiece material. Maybe not evergreen, but extremely enjoyable. Even this doesn't mean it's above "flaws" (though not all flaws are "fixable", in the sense that some are effectively the result of a difference of opinion, not a failure of craftsmanship), but these "flaws" are either barely noticeable or easy to ignore. Usually "must-watch/classic" material.
9: Almost always demands a rewatch (though not necessarily immediately). It's difficult to enunciate the difference between a 9 and a 10, as it really comes down to how much the show "spoke" personally to me, for lack of a better way of putting it.
8: Very strong work, highly enjoyable. Usually middling-to-high rewatch value. Either has minor annoyances that're very easy to overlook, or some things don't hit (perhaps because I'm not the perfect target audience). Either way, strongly recommended.
7: Strong work. Elicits some investment in the story and/or characters, and is able to use that investment to produce some genuine emotional reaction. However, this might be confined to some small spectrum of emotions, or only able to do so rarely.
6: The edge of "enjoyable". A work that had it's indisputable good elements which can't be taken away; however, it still has noticeable, oftentimes difficult to overlook problems. Overall still enjoyable, probably can occasionally be rewatched if in the mood.
5: Not mediocre, but also not anything special. Either the good is counteracted by the bad, or there just wasn't a lot of outstanding/memorable stuff. Can be rewatchable, might be enjoyable if in the right mood, but often lacks lasting impact.
4: Failed to garner investment in the story or elicit any real emotion, but wasn't absolutely horrible. A truly mediocre work, often something trite and failing to bring anything new to the table beyond the color of hat. Rarely contains any rewatch value.
3: Provided some amusement, though the large majority of said amusement was likely resulting from how bad it was rather than any deliberate intent on the creator's part. Works here are usually good for group hate-watches.
2: Provided absolutely no entertainment or amusement. Probably unintentionally put me to sleep. No redeeming value whatsoever unless you suffer from insomnia but your insurance doesn't cover Ambien's cost enough or your doc won't write you a prescription.
1: I literally only finished it because I hate leaving things unfinished/dropped, and I hated the experience of watching it. A show rated here either
a) Contains material so personally offensive that, regardless of redeeming merits, it had to go here; or
b) Is the kind of show that someone else might find something to like about, but that person would probably hate me and vice versa.
Or both!
