From what I can tell your list seems perfectly fair! Nice to see Kyoani making a bit of a comeback. Thanks for sharing. And yeah I think I've found some other years where it was hard to pinpoint a winner. It can be tricky to feel confident about the rankings that way. Anyway I look forward to making my own top 30! (Also I'm gonna put Sunrise and Bandai Namco together again so there's one difference).
Those listings seem all good, makes sense
Actually I think I have changed my opinion. On the official websites (both A1's and Cloverworks'), Darling in the Franxx has its production listed as just Trigger/CloverWorks and Slow Start has it's production listed as just CloverWorks. This makes me more inclined to give full credit of Slow Start to Cloverworks and split Franxx 50/50 with Trigger and Cloverworks. Persona 5 is looking to still be CloverWorks alone, and actually Ace Attorney S2 might be a 50/50 split for A-1 and Cloverworks. Very interesting.

Sure, I mean yeah Cloverworks were there the whole time on Slow Start and DITF it's just that they distinguished themselves halfway through (well, after the fact in the case of Slow Start). That studio still contributed on the first half. Oh and yeah in the real sense of things it will be good for A-1 Pictures to give them more focus and not spread themselves so thinly over all Aniplex stuff. I just meant in the short term listing sense it will knock down some of A-1's overwhelming output rate which gets them so high on the lists
You don't think you will split the credit for Franxx and Slow Start? What is the alternative? Are you not going to list the studios as separate for 2018? Because though Cloverworks did those projects while they were still with A-1, they can't lose that credit when it comes to the year-end since that studio that is now Cloverworks helped to make them. I feel that splitting them is the only fair way if the idea is to list the studios as separate for the year. Idk, unless we do keep A-1 and Cloverworks together as one for 2018 since for most of the year they were... Hmm...
I didn't know about this! But I've now read that article on ANN and yeah it seems legit. I guess CloverWorks didn't like their lacking identity so they decided to make the jump. In this case I think we should list them separately from A-1 Pictures. They've probably not cut all of their ties to A-1 because of Aniplex, but they can't be considered a subsidiary of A-1 anymore.
So, yeah, Looks like Slow Start will be getting half credit from A-1 Pictures and CloverWorks this year. This split is probably good because the output rate of the two studios combined would be a bit overpowered. Certainly neither of them will come out on top this year! Splitting FranXX 3 ways will be annoying though. I think in my mind it'll be: Trigger 50%, A-1 25%, CloverWorks 25% on that one. Btw I'm leaning towards totally ignoring A-1's minor involvement on stuff like Persona 5 Animation and Ace Attorney S2 for the lists.
Are you thinking the same way?
I also noticed this CloverWorks thing so I've looked into it and found an article. It seems that this is one of A-1 Pictures' existing studios (they have multiple studios) trying to diversify A-1 and set themselves as different to A-1's other main studio. But, they are still a part of A-1 and haven't lost that connection. So basically, I think they can be classified as a subsidary of A-1 Pictures. They are still within the company and it isn't the case of people leaving A-1 and forming their own new studio. I would compare it to how Bandai Namco Pictures is with Sunrise, so for when it comes to anime studios 2018 I would keep all CloverWorks titles as A-1 Pictures.
Here's the article about it that informed my opinion: http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2018/04/04/a-1-pictures-rebrands-their-kenji-studio-as-cloverworks
