Sword Art Online is the anime series that basically introduced us to the Isekai genre, in 2012 there wasn't anyone who hasn't watched SAO and got amazed by how they fulfilled every otaku's dream: to live inside a video game world. But in actuallity, Sword Art Online is one of the worst and most disappointing series ever made(and you'll only disagree if you're like 11/12 years old). But why? The anime have a brilliant idea, have a decent animation and CGI, goddammit they even managed to get LisA singing their opening theme. So how? Here, my review is going to be about why SAO is
...
that bad.
Story(3/10):SAO's story happens in an era where the VR games evolved, allowing you to experience a total submersion into the digital world. Eventually all the players get stuck on the game, where they can only leave by beating all the 100 levels and if their health bar reach 0, they die in real life. That's a pretty nice idea, very original and interesting, but they couldn't use the best of it. The first arc was just the story of a generic main character, who suddently becomes god for no reason, doing pointless things while they just ignored all the cast members with exception of Kiri-Jesus-Kun and Asu-ClicheTsundere-Chan (but I'll talk about the generic cast on the characters topic down below). One of the main reasons why I hate SAO is the stupid plot twist on episode 14, which could only be described as an insult to the history of animes. The writers didn't even care about why Kayaba Akihiko trapped everyone in the game, he just did it because he wanted to, there is no explanation! The "Alfheim Online" arc isn't any better, it's the total opposite. It doesn't have any positive point, the main villain is just pathetic, the fights are really pointless since in this other game they have a mechanic known as "respawn" and the story is even more mediocre than of the first arc. Worth mentioning that SAO has a lot more plotholes than Jojo, some examples are:if there some kids were like 6-7 years old later in the series, it means that they played the game with 3-4 years? If Kirito really was able to hack the game servers to bring Yui's heart back, why didn't he hack the servers to save everyone from the game? Why did Kirito refused to follow the plan that envolves killing NPCs if they are f###### NPCs? How did Asuna manage to move in the episode 14 if she was paralised? And in the same episode how Kirito managed to survive and kill Kayaba with an exact 0 on his health bar? All those questions can be answered with just saying: this show is garbage.
Characters(1/10):One thing Sword Art Online lacks of(other than almost everything else) is a good cast of characters. Just tell me, which character do you prefer? The generic overpowered with no personality emo main character, the cliche useless tsundere, the amusing but without any screentime at all side character or all the useless other extras? There isn't even ONE unique character, there isn't any development, and they don't even have a natural grownth. Kirito on episode 2 was just a regular player and was on the lowest levels of Aincrad. On episode 4 he reached godmode, somehow reaching a higher level than everyone from one day to another, and passing 20 levels from the dungeon. Other annoying thing in SAO is how every girl want to have Kirito just for them, for no actual reason, he just have a harem because the writers wanted it like that. Oh no, there is more... I didn't mention her, did I? Okay, here it comes:Yui. If the show wasn't total garbage until then, when she appeared I felt like the creators gave up on the series. (SPOILERS OF EPISODE 11/12 AHEAD)When she was introduced to us, I didn't think much of it. Later on, we got to know that Yui was actually an AI that decided to challenge her programation because she saw how Asuna and Kirito were... smiling? That's so freaking dumb to so many levels. And then there was the goodbye, where Asuna cried her eyes out, claiming that she couldn't smile without her. But who am I to judge, I would also feel like that if I've lost someone I knew for years... oh sorry they knew each other for months... wait weeks? Was it days? Oh no wait, they knew each other for LESS THAN 24 HOURS? I clearly saw her smiling on the other episode. And then, somehow Kirito developed advanced hacking skills, breached the main code from the game and created an item named ''Yui's Heart". Yep now thanks to episode 4 we know she's coming back, that basically means that her death meant nothing.
Enjoyment(3/10) and Overall(3/10):SAO to a certain extent is enjoyable, not great or actually good, it's likeable. And that is until episode 9, after that the show just becomes unbearable, the story gets even worse than it alrealdy was and all the concepts that were already bad(characters, plot twist, villains and basically every other single thing) just got even worse, especially when they introduced Yui. But I'm not going to judge anyone for enjoying it, I liked the anime myself in 2014, and it's not an exaggeration to say that Sword Art Online really made it's name on the story of animes. Love it or hate it, everyone knows how bad the series is.
It's really a shame to think that this anime was released in 2012, the same year that came out Nisemonogatari,Fate/Zero second season,Chunibyou and especially Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. For me, they could just drop the production of "Sword Art Online:Alicization" and all the future SAO series, and manage to create a reboot. This time making it a long shounen to explore more the universe of Aincrad, give screentime and actual personalities to the characters, make a explanation for why Kayaba trapped everyone in the game, remove Kirito's harem and finally just erase the "Alfheim Online" arc,"the Sword Art Online II" and finally the "Sword Art Online:Alicization". I really hope one day we'll get to see a GOOD SAO anime. But for now, it is only in my dreams.

(First of all, I'm brazillian then sorry about any grammar mistakes)Persona 5 the animation is a anime series based on a game with the same name, first released in 2018 and finishing airing in 2019. I've got to say with all my sincerity that Persona 5 is one of the worst and most disappointing anime shows that I ever witnessed with my bare eyes. I had some friends who enjoyed this... thing and I couldn't understand why. On this review I'll be mostly talking about why this series is so disappointing in my eyes.
Story(7/10):The story is the major quality of the animation. Not gonna lie,
...
the whole concept of breaking into pallaces and steal souls is very unique and interesting, but this is not a compliment. Try to compact about 100+ hours of gameplay in 26 episodes is a very bad idea, because there was a lot of misused concepts(especially Personas) and lots of very rushed scenes. Now you may be thinking:"they needed to adapt a story in just 26 episodes, of course it would be dificult and have some mistakes", well if that's the case SHOULDN'T YOU JUST LIKE NOT MAKE AN ANIME ADAPTATION? Persona 5 story is interesting, but if you want to enjoy the best of it, please buy the game. it's more worth of your time.
Art(2/10) and sound(7/10):Where should I start? If you just saw the art style or some promotional art, you probably thought:"wow the art is just like the game! This can't be bad right?", and I'm really sorry for you. The art style is very good actually and pretty faithful to the game, but on the other hand the animation... For starters, Persona 5 has the POOREST animation that I've ever seen, the characters moved like some kind of cheap animatronics, and the animators didn't even care to at least make facial expressions that actually expressed something. Someone is angry? Is he sad? We can only know with the voice acting, otherwise they would be just a group of Bellas from "Twilight". One of the coolest things in the game were the fights, that are garbage in the anime. being basically pokemon fights, where they just keep shooting each other until someone dies. There was also the "in-all attacks", that looked like complete trash. I'm also not in the mood to talk about their horrible CGI. Now about the sound, it would be total shame if it wasn't their voice actors. Besides the cast's robotic movements and blank faces, what gave them life was the voice, the dubbing was just too good and they matched perfectly with each character. The musics used on the anime were made by the game's lead composer:Shoji Meguro, and they were pretty damn good, but sometimes they didn't fit on the action scenes. On the other hand the sound effects were disgusting. They didn't match on what actions were happening, or they were just very poor. Some examples are the gunfire noises, they were ridiculous, mostly because they didn't resemble the sound of gunpowder exploding, somehow they resembled an airsoft gun shooting.
Characters(1/10):The Persona characters were very cool, they were empathetic and interesting... sorry I'm talking about the game. While our protagonist Amamiya Ren is stoic, he is not like Giorno from Jojo for example, he doesn't seem to have a deeper personality, he is just expressionless and nothing more. I dare to say that Ryuji is the only one that overall has a personality. The rest of the cast is just like Sword Art Online's cast, they are just there to keep the story going. I'm giving a few positive points because they managed to make their designs faithful to the games(and overall because their designs are very good), but the main reason to my deception is how the anime cast are basically cardboard figures compared to their games counterpart. While Ryuji in the games is a stupid, but very kind, funny and sometimes a little perverted school delinquent, in the series he's just the dumb protagonist best friend. While Ann in the game showed how she felt guilt for not helping her best friend Shiho, eventually evolving and defeating her insecurity, in the anime she felt sad for her friend... yeah nothing more happens. While Yusuke in the game is a very passionate person for art, always wanting to illustrate what he sees, and a very dense person, being unable to read the mood, which creates very funny scenes, in the anime he simply doesn't have a personality.
-PERSONAS-
Now let's talk about the main mechanic in the games:Personas. Even if in the game the Personas were only used in attacking purposes, like in the anime, was it really clever to make things like this way? When someone summons their Persona, they just shoot a beam of light and disappear, eventually there were some different and more interesting powers, but they were always used in the same way (except in one scene where Yusuke's Persona uses a ice beam to freeze an enemy to the ground). What I wanted to see then? Let's use as an example another anime with a similar mechanic:Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and their Stands. Each stand is used in a smart and surpring way, just like Giorno's Gold Experience and it's ability of life-giver. If Gold Experience was used in Persona, his user would probably just create some animals, like wolves, and send them to attack the enemy. In Jojo, Giorno uses his Stand to overload an enemy with life energy, making his senses go berserk, transform an object(like a shoe or a teeth) into a fly to track its owner, heal injuries, create trees to reach higher levels, etc. See the difference? Jojo's Stands are used in creative ways, they aren't just weapons, while the Personas are used in a plain way, wasting their potential. Also, one thing that the anime do not explain, is why Ren always show up with different Personas. And I don't know why. Now if you don't know, the reason why is a basic mechanic in the game:executing Personas to create a new one, and the capturing shadows to get a new Persona, but if someone don't know about that, it gets pretty confusing.
Enjoyment(1/10) and overall(2/10):I needed to watch this anime after making a tract with a friend... I kind of regret that decision. The series have an interesting plot, but it is really wasted in the anime. The poor animation mixed with bad sound effects, a story that doesn't flow naturally and misused characters just make the experience of watching more and more painful. If you want a anime with a good plot, great characters, good looking visuals and animation, great sound in general and has "Personas" in it, just watch Jojo's Bizarre Adventure:Diamond is Unbreakable, this is worth of your time. But if you do really want to know how Persona 5 is, play the game. Seriously, I've started playing the game recently, but it is very obvious the difference beteween anime and game. Why would anyone watch 26 episodes of a poor version from a let's play, if playing the game itself you get to know the story better, the characters are really good, the gameplay is very fun and the animation is limited to cutscenes.
Even without playing the game, i got really disappointed with the show, and after watching a few let's plays, I just couldn't believe that this game gave birth to the monstruocity that is this anime. I know that I said that a lot of times, but don't waste your time with this, it's not worth your time. People cried watching Anohana? Clannad after story? Your Lie In April? I cried watching this piece of ****.

(First of all, I'm brazillian, so sorry about the grammar mistakes)
Jojo No Kimyou Na Bouken:Ougon No Kaze(known in the western as Jojo's Bizarre Adventure:Vento Aureo/Golden Wind) is the fifth part of the series, originally published as a mangá by Hirohiko Araki between 1995 and 1999, later in 2018 David Productions made an anime adaptation. A whole lot of fans would agree to say that Vento Aureo is the worst part of the series, with a bad protagonist, a story not connected to the major plot, questionable character designs and just being plain bad in general. I couldn't disagree more, and I am proud to say
...
that Golden Wind is actually my favorite story arc in the whole series(when talking about anime adaptations).
Story(8/10):Differently from other parts, such as Diamond Is Unbreakable and Stone Ocean, Golden Wind is not connected to the main plot of the series, it wouldn't be totally wrong to say that rather than a story arc, this part could be described as a distinct story from the same universe(an example is the anime "Gun Gale Online", a different story from the same universe as "Sword Art Online"), have in mind that this doesn't mean that Vento Aureo is bad. This Jojo story arc starts by being just a italian mafia kind of story, with our protagonist Giorno Giovanna trying to stop the drug dealing on his city with the help of Bruno Buccellati and eventually become the organization's boss. In some point of the series the main cast changes their objective, and it leads the plot to another path. Eventually it became a tale about betrayal and trust, in order to save a friend from a horrible fate, the gang fights in a battle agaist time to discover the bosse's identity and eventually kill him. And just like all the other part from Jojo, there are a lot of plotholes.
~The Fights~(FEW SPOILERS AHEAD)
Since Phantom Blood, Jojo have always had next level fights, with characters using their own intelligence in the combat to find incredibly clever solutions. Vento Aureo is not an exception, in fact ALL fights in this part were absolutely stunning. I'm exaggerating? Maybe... But let me explain what I'm saying, for an example let's take a fight from a totally different anime:DanMachi with the second fight between Bell Cranel and Hyakinthos. The fight is not natural, in their first clash Hyakinthos overpowered Bell by any means possible, he was built as a strong opponent and a very skilled warrior. But Bell still managed to deafeat him on their second combat just landing a few hits, all beacause he trained for five days...pretty ridiculous right? Coming back to Jojo let's use another example, this time one of the best fights of all time:Risotto Nero vs Doppio. While Doppio just appeared in the series and Risotto had very little screen time, nobody expected anything from them. Through the fight we watch the stand users trying to learn each other abilities while they were being attacked, and also it is impressing al least to see how they manage to use their knowledge and powers in the most clever way possible to avoid or hit attacks, resulting in unexpected plot twists, especially on the very end. It can't be described by words, you need to watch it to understand.
Art(9/10) and Sound(10/10):David productions used a different art style on the fifth part, and I absolutely loved it. The animation was smooth and well made, the characters and background were well detailed and the CGI added a nice touch to the scenes. Personally i think the sound was incredible. Just like the other parts, all the voice actor did a nice job on giving life to the characters, each sound effect was very cool and matched what they represent(for example the effect of the stands being summoned, the sound of Gold Experience's ability or even just gunshots), also the musics that played on the background were so aweasome and they made the fighting scenes more badass, like in the scene where Il Vento D'Oro starts playing when Giorno and Mista were fighting Ghiaccio.
Characters(10/10):If someone asked me, I would probably say that Vento Aureo have one of the best, if not THE BEST character cast of all anime that I've watched(even with their... questionable fashion sense). The main character Giorno Giovanna may be described by many people as a person with no personality at all, but this is wrong, Kirito from Sword Art Online have no personality. Our Jojo here is stoic, he doesn't show a lot his feelings, but he is a very complex character. Because of the Joestar blood in his veins he became a very kind person, caring for the others, at the same time he shows his disgust towards nasty people, not feeling a slight bit of hesitation to kill someone like Ciocolatta, who used his stand power on a whole city, killing and causing chaos among the civillians. Also Giorno is the protagonist with most knowledge of the series, making a lot of different uses to his ability. The second protagonist of the part is my favorite Jojo character Bruno Buccelatti. He was sent by the boss to interrogate Giorno, but after their fight he acknoledged and decided to help him. As the story passes we got to know more about his personality. Bruno is even kinder and empathetic than our MC, all the members of his team were saved somehow by Buccelatti, who served as a father figure for the gang, who by themselves all have great personalities. We even get to see the character development of the villains, and what are their motivations and sometimes how they have grown.
~STANDS~
This mechanic introduced in Stardust Crusaders really was something new, but the stands in part 3 were pretty simple, there were fire, swords, punchy boi, stop time, etc. But part 5 turned this into something more interesting:there was the ability to give life to objects,an airplane with unlimited ammo, ability to deflect bullets, ability to make things soft, a friggin killer virus,THE ABILITY OF OPEN FRICKEN ZIPPERS ON OBEJECTS! The powers were used in the most clever way possible, and how stand users dealt with each other was a great thing to see. Worth mentioning that each stand have a unique and very awesome design.
Enjoyement(10/10) and Overall(9/10):Jojo's Bizarre Adventure:Golden Wind is one of my favorite anime in general, the character cast was simply incredible, overflowing with charisma, the art and sound were exceptional, every single fight was brilliant and entertaining, the story started pretty simple, but gradually evolved and was truly a masterpiece(but of course I'm overexaggerating). Even if the end was pretty confusing, i don't think anyone would regret watching Vento Aureo.
Anyway, that was just my thoughts about Vento Aureo, which I think that is the most underrated story arc of Jojo. Thanks for reading.

"Jojo no kimyou na bouken"(or known in the western as "jojo's bizarre adventure"), is a mangá series created by Hirohiko Araki and published in 1987, then proceeded to get an anime adaptation in 2012. The first season of the animation tells the story of the first and second parts of Jojo(known as Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency). This is going to be my first review ever, and i'm from Brazil(here we speak portuguese), so sorry about the grammar mistakes.
Story(8/10):(ALERT!!!SOME SPOILERS AHEAD)Phantom Blood, the first part of Jojo(episodes 1-9) wasn't the best thing in the world, mostly because the story didn't flow naturally, 9 episodes is
...
a very short period of time to tell a complete story and as expected the it was a very rushed tale. We follow the journey of Jonathan Joestar, an english rich kid whose peaceful life was disturbed when he met his adopted brother:Dio Brando. Years after their first meeting, Dio uses the powers of a stone mask to give up on his humanity and become a vampire. Jojo, now with allies, learns how to use a special technique to defeat his evil brother:the Hamon(or Ripple) breathing... pretty hard to believe this is a story huh?Now the second part, Battle Tendency(episodes 10-26) is pretty much better. We follow the jorney of a new protagonist, which I've got to say that is a clever idea. I love Jonathan, he is awesome, but his tale with Dio has ended, it would have been a bad idea to bring him back, instead they introduced an even better main character and started his tale, a totally different tale. One thing that NEEDS to be mentioned is how the anime take fights to another level. Taking an example from a fight from another series:Ichigo vs Aizen we can see that our hero mops the floor with the antagonist. How? Being strong, and getting stronger as the combat goes on. Now, getting back to Jojo, we can clearly see the difference of power between Jonathan and Dio, yet the vampire got defeated. How? Jojo used the elements around him to breach the villain's defences. Dio just froze the sword? Surprise, the blade was getting heated by a torch behind them. Jojo can't touch Dio or else he will be frozen? Surprise, Jonathan just set his glove on fire to hit a direct hit. What i'm trying to say is that our protagonists are able to use their intelligence to find a clever way to solve their conflict, resulting in the most unexpected plot twists, which I love so much!
Art(9/10) and Sound(10/10):Jojo's anime have been through a lot of different artistic styles, and it would be no exaggeration to say that their first style is the most hated of them. Some people can't just accept the super buff characters and their square faces. I can see why there is this misconception, but I actually like this art style, all the characters and backgrounds are really detailed and well shaded, also some of the series trademarks, such as the weird stances and the color pallet change gives a nice and unique touch to the animation. Another thing worth mentioning is the beautiful CGI used. While most scenes are hand drawn animation, the CGI adds some nice detail to the scenes. Now about the sound, it is almost perfect. All the voice actors made a very well made job, they did a perfectly fitting voice for each character with such passion! The sound effects were incredible, all unique and they somehow matched with their respective actions. The musical themes were really good(such as Fukutsu Mushin No Sakebi,Awaken and Overdrive), and they added a nice touch to the already sttuning fight sequences. It's worth mentioning that a really nice mix of good animation sequences, good use of CGI and great songs are the openings of each part, Sono Chi No Sadame and Bloody Stream, that are in my opinion two of the best anime openings of all times.
Characters(9/10):If there is anything in this anime that almost no one can complain about, it's their characters. While most people can say that Jonathan and Dio are pretty simplistic characters, one being the true gentleman and nice guy because he is like that and the other being the evil in person since he was born, they work pretty well and kind of work like a ying/yang kind of thing, they are total opposites but at the same time they complete each other. Joseph on the other hand is a incredible character, always acting goofy but at the same time being the proud person he is and always showing how smart he is, making plans to defeat enemies, trying to predict what his opponent is about to say and in general just beaming with charisma, always making his scenes pleasant to watch. But, the main characters aren't the only ones to receive the spotlight. The famous "jobros" are characters who help our protagonists most times, such as the best boy Speedwagon, one of the most beloved characters in the anime. Introduced as a villain, he grew a high level of respect towards the Joestar family and swore loyalty to Jonathan, always helping him and never leaving his side.Considered how everybody belittled Jojo because of Dio's influence, it's such a sweet thing to see in the series. Even after plenty of years he always took care of Joseph and showed high levels of concern with him, just like a father figure.
Enjoyment(8/10) and overall(8/10):I simply love Jojo, it is one of my favorite animes of all time, but this season wasn't all that. As I said, the first part is really rushed and it kind of bothered me, because I personally like to see the story gradually evolving, and I wished to see more of Jonathan,Speedwagon and Erina in their younger forms. On the other hand we got to see a really beautiful and sad ending, and a small character development on the short time we had. Battle Tendency introduced more great characters, a better protagonist, a nice story and overall good villains, basically it was more enjoyable to watch. In general Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is a good series with an incredible cast, next-level fights, nice art and awesome sound effects but a strange and in some points confusing story, but very enjoyable at last.
Every anime needs a starting point, and this is the start of Jojo. It may not be the best or the most perfect series of all times, but it can certainly entertain the watcher and it really shows how Jojo really is. If anyone asked me, i'd recommend it and every otaku should have the experience that this incredible anime is.
Even though this was not the most helpful review ever made(it's not like anyone will ever read this) but those were my thoughts watching the series. Thank you all for reading.
