Ye there really was and I have read more of the manga and they should have enough stuff by now that they could animate a S2.

As a visual novel reader, my experience with the anime has been me comparing it to the visual novel so far XD
But so far, it's been pretty faithful. The thing about S;G 0 is that it's visual novel is much more non-linear in comparison to the original, making it harder to adapt. They'll probably be only adapting the two main routes, but they'll also add in plot-points from the other routes. It's actually kinda hard to tell in what order will the anime adapt the visual novel. But it's been interesting so far.

The series is pretty chill right now, but it shouldn't be long until things get tense.

Oh ok but it is still a great anime even if one knows the twist cause the anime is full of twists. :D
I hope they will one day make a S2!

Yes I love Gakkougurashi and the first ep of the anime is one of the best anime episodes I have ever seen I had literally no idea what I was going into before I started it pretty randomly.
