Futatsu no Spica was originally released in Japan in 16 volumes. Fan translations were voluntarily withdrawn when the series was licensed by Vertical in 2009.

Vertical had high expectations for the series, and although industry reviews praised the series, it did not not sell as well as Vertical expected. As a result, Vertical decided to publish the later volumes as omnibuses. Volumes 7-10 of the Vertical release were equivalent to volumes 7-12 of the Media Factory release, and Vertical's volumes 11-12 were equivalent to Media Factory's volumes 13-16. No material was cut; Vertical just decided to finish the series faster.

The physical editions of Vertical's Twin Spica have been out of print for years, though you might still find them on eBay or elsewhere. The series is now available digitally as e-books on Kindle (Amazon), iTunes (Apple), Play Store (Google), Nook (Barnes and Noble), and Kobo (Rakuten). The e-book edition has 16 volumes, the same as the Media Factory release.

Then why write a review if you can't be bothered finishing it?

*mind blown*

Nisemonogatari has much better animation than Bake.
