Wollen wir uns heute Abend zum re:zero-Rewatch treffen?

Work has been really busy, but otherwise, life is good. How about you?

I ended up watching several things in winter. I finished Garo: Vanishing Line, 3-gatsu no Lion, and Mahoutsukai no Yome, picked up and finished Gintama, and also watched some other series from previous seasons (like Houseki no Kuni - it was really good!). Gintama's ending was absolutely fantastic (I scared my cat when Takasugi appeared and I screamed, haha) and I loved the return of Hedoro. I'm just happy that there's still another season coming up! I've downloaded a few episodes of Franxx, so that's on the "To Watch" list or sure. Garo started off strong, but kind of petered out into standard shounen territory. 3-gatsu no Lion was as strong as ever, although I felt Hina's arc was kind of stretched out a bit long. And Mahoutsukai no Yome was boring :/ I had heard such good things about the manga and the ideas in it were interesting, but the execution of it in the anime was mediocre and it was a struggle to finish it. If it gets another season, I won't watch it.

For this season, I'm continuing on with the new Card Captor Sakura season. I've definitely picked up BNHA S3, but other than that, I don't think
there was anything that I was super pumped about. I've already started watching Hinamatsuri (very WTF) and Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi (seems very reverse harem, but I'm waiting to see if it does anything to break the mold). Then I also plan to pick up Golden Kamuy and Piano no Mori.

Hey! Sorry for being MIA for *so* long! I'll be honest, checking my profile page isn't really something I do a lot of. I usually keep my anime list open in a separate tab and just update it as I go, haha.

How did you find the Winter 2018 season? And what are you picking up for the Spring 2018 season?

I'm going to Jamaica ^^ I don't usually do the all-inclusive resort thing but my friend convinced me, so I figured I'd give it a try.

Aw, that sucks that you couldn't enjoy Japan to the fullest because of health reasons! I remember catching some God-awful virus or something when I visited Kyoto on my first trip and that was bad enough (and part of why I revisited Kyoto on my second trip to Japan). I would love to see other parts of Japan, especially northern Japan (Tohoku and Hokkaido) and Kyushu.

I know so many people who want to visit South Korea, haha. It's on my radar but it's not something I'm prioritizing. I want to go somewhere else later this year but I'm still not sure where.

Btw how are you liking the winter 2018 season so far?
Aeterna Jan 30, 7:01 PM
I'm back! And it's good to be home, although I go on vacation in less than a week xD Still, I should have Internet where I'm going so that'll be good.

I *loved* Japan and I'd love to go back, but I promised myself I'd try going elsewhere this year for traveling since I visited Japan in both 2017 and 2016. I agree - everyone is very respectful so even though you're all crammed into a bus or train, it's still remarkably quiet. Did you go anywhere else in Japan besides Tokyo and Kyoto?

This is going to sound so horrible but you do get used to working with really sick people, knowing that they could die. It's a challenge but I do enjoy it. It's really satisfying having to take care of a patient who is literally knocking on death's door, then see them later doing much better and preparing to be discharged home. Sometimes yeah, there's nothing we can do and people die, but that's life and you learn to accept that. In cases where we can't do anything, we just hope that we can make them comfortable in their last days/hours (and we have lots of great drugs for that).

Oh man, I've been to Tokyo and yeah, it's such a huge city! I'm from a fairly large urban area (nothing crazy; my hometown is about 600,000 people strong but neighbours much bigger cities in the realm of ~700,000 and 2 million people) and Tokyo felt a bit overwhelming to me. It was definitely fun but a part of me prefers Kyoto, which is big but quieter and still has plenty to see.

Hmm, I'm not sure if I love the work. It's definitely a different focus than what I usually deal with. My normal job is in an acute care hospital, so I'm used to dealing with seriously ill people, but here, it's like walk-in clinic work, so I look at a lot of minor wounds or infections. I'm really working outside of my comfort zone, which was sort of the point of taking on this job, but I do kind of miss working with the critically ill. As for the isolation, it's not weird but just really, really boring. There's nothing to do here except maybe take a walk around town and there's only so much walking you can do! I'm used to living in a big city where there's plenty to do or at least a mall to walk around in and window shop.

If you want cute, then CCS is definitely the way to go. I think I actually went "Squee! <3" during the first episode of the new season. Net-juu no Susume is pretty cute, too, but with adult characters, so it's not quite as saccharine. You're right that's nice to sit back and just enjoy a show that's doesn't require any brain work but rather, just something sweet and nice. I used to watch almost exclusively action or psychological sort of anime, stuff that really made me think, but I find myself increasingly gravitating towards easy shows, like SOL, comedy, etc.

I'm a nurse ^^; I'm currently trying out a temporary outpost job, so I'm working in an isolated community. It's so isolated that for most of the year, there aren't any roads in or out; you have to fly in. I'm here for another week.

I don't know if I'm emotionally ready to start up the final season of Gintama when I get back home. The seiyuu for Gintama, though, are definitely amazing. They chose them really well!

Good luck watching Card Captor Sakura! It's a very cutesy series, so as an adult, it's a bit too saccharine for my tastes. I mostly watched it because I only saw the dub as a kid as the dub was legitimately horrible, so I wanted to compare the dub and sub. Sub is definitely better, haha.

Sorry for the late reply again! I'm actually out of town for my job and just haven't had much time to think of anime. The Internet connection is also pretty slow most of the time and I'm told it's unreliable (although it hasn't cut out on me yet...!) and I'm out in the middle of nowhere, so I don't even have cell phone service. I almost brought along my laptop, which has a lot of downloaded anime, but it would have made my baggage too heavy so I left it at home :( I didn't want it to get damaged, lost, or stolen, anyway, so it's probably for the best.

Anyway, I've already picked up the new Card Captor Sakura series. I remember watching the anime dub when I was younger so this new season was a fantastic nostalgia trip. They've done such a great job of updating the series while still keeping its original aesthetic and feel, at least from what I've seen so far (just one episode, haha). Otherwise, on my PTW list for this season is Darling in the FranXX, Gintama (;A;), Kokkoku, and maybe Violet Evergarden (I don't even know what it's about but it seems to be getting lots of attention).

I've started Net-juu no Susume and it's a really cute romance series! It's nothing terribly original or groundbreaking but it's been a nice, easy watch so far. I wholeheartedly recommend Kekkai Sensen if you like random comedy and over the top action. FWIW though, I actually liked the 2nd season better than the first.
