I've watched anime all my life because funimation, toonami, etc on cable back in the early 2000s. I didnt really become a actual fan till around 2007 when i feel in love with atla, black cat, and other animes airing on funimation at the time. D. gray man was what got me into reading manga. I prefer reading manga nowadays though. tbh my lists aren't even entirely accurate because i have a hard time remembering series i watched or read in elementary & middle school.
In recent years my interest in newer anime and manga especially isn't there. I mostly stick to stuff i know. Maybe I need to look more into other genres than shoujo or shounen. Maybe even older stuff. Outside anime, I'm into indie stuff nowadays compared to mainstream/big publisher series or I’m into obscure/older shit. i'm just more picky when it comes to media i consume than when i was a kid. i kinda just watched what was on cable as a kid.
Anime/manga ratings are based on when how i felt on initial read or my recent re-read. most of my fave series are under the 9-10 rating, 8-7 i enjoyed a lot, 6-5 i liked it but it's just ok, 4 & under is i didn't like it/was indifferent. Unrated usually means I can't remember the story well enough to score it.. to be clear if i didn't like/care for a series, i normally just drop it. I dont waste time on stuff i ain't vibing with.
Lastly, are some legal sites to buy, rent, or stream anime and manga I've found over the years. I mostly buy physical books and dvds, but sometimes stuff is only available digitally. If you have the ability to support the creators financially, check if they're on one of these sites. Luckily it's easier to legally obtain anime/manga now than back then. But streaming aint affordabe, and that money aint going to the overworked animators anyways. so pirate all you want, especially crunchy roll (fuck them). tbh buying physical media will always be better than streaming if you want to support studios. streaming only lines the pockets of ceos as we learned from the sag/wga strikes. Won't be listing pirating websites bc loose lips sink ships (also i haven't used any in a long time, i buy the physical shit soo...).
