In the end, this is a "turn your brain off and enjoy" kind of show.
This show has plenty of potential, but it's still missing something that other great shows have had. The art is pretty solid with some flashes of brilliance here and there, but sometimes there are also some inconsistencies in the animation that make things look overly stiff or the continuity of certain shots back to back don't line up.
One thing I can say for certain, is that the big tree spirit actually kind of looks better than the CGI in Shield Hero season 2 on that dumb tortoise. All that said,

I had heard the rumors about the art being like a slideshow, so I steered clear for a bit. When I finally decided to watch it anyway, I was prepared to drop it immediately. But whatever man, screw Sakuga for once, Powerpoints are cool. I was able to enjoy this show way more than even some of the bigger name animes that I've watched so far. That's exceeding expectations, no doubt.
It's these stOOpid complaints about having the art "this" way or "that" way that really suck. Such a 'first world' problem that so many can't seem to get over. It's just sad. This show was hilarious ... |
