Did anything interesting happen to you this January?
As for Japanese, I'm kind of getting closer to mastering the language.
Whoever Nihongodera's web designer may be is a genius. I had no idea idea that amatsu meant heaven in Japanese.
Ama means nun, but in the hands of someone vulgar or mischievous, it's a bad word.
If I were to go to Japan right now, then I would wear custom overalls with more than enough pockets for carrying my large deck of flashcards.
Right now, my Japanese is good enough for rereading Silent Möbius. Silent Möbius QD is another manga that I can't wait to read.
First, I have to get to read all 12 volumes. The late 90s adaptation stopped at volume 4.
By the way, it's been ages since I last watched those adaptations of Dominion or Dominion Tank Police. Some tomboys that I know are huge fans of Masamune Shirow. One of them is that woman exactly your age from Maryland, the Dot Hack nerd.
I plan on completing my math and learning a whole other language after I finish Japanese.
By the way, what do you think of the Nier games? I haven't played those yet, but I'm familiar with a lot of different JRPGs. Jade Cocoon was definitely my first JRPG and is also my childhood game. I used to think that it was inspired by Princess Mononoke because of the Ghibli artstyle (fantasy elements too), but with Pokémon elements. You won't ever hear music that epic or ominous in a Pokémon game.
My Ontarian friend will have her 38th birthday next month and I can tell that she's been working very hard. Like from dawn to late dusk.
I've memorized ~380 Chinese characters. It is said that you have to master 1,400-1,945 Chinese characters to be fluent in Japanese.
For Cantonese and Mandarin, you must know 3,000 Chinese characters to be fluent. Yes, true Chinese is split into Cantonese and Mandarin. The Instant Japanese book said that Japan used to import over 60,000 Chinese characters so kanji was more abundant then than it is now.
Wikipedia suggests that hiragana or true Japanese writing was originally made for women. For a good reason, it's easier to read than kanji or Mandarin. Hiragana is definitely the true Japanese writing set.
Instant Japanese also said that Japan has imported over 25,000 English words since Hepburn set foot in Japan.
My hiragana and katakana are getting better even though I got lots more Japanese to cover. Especially when it comes to conversational stuff.
I also finished reading School Rumble.
With the E-book that I downloaded recently, I'll be able to read Silent Möbius and Lindbergh more comfortably.
My semi-tomboyish friend from North Carolina knows a great deal of German and was able to complete German copies of Lindbergh. So yeah! There are some manga that have yet to be translated in English.
Other than that, I can only imagine what life in a superearth would be like. It is said that if you lived in a giant Earth-like exoplanet, then you would get superstrength like Captain America.
Too bad birds can't live in superearths because of their high mass and superstrong gravity.
Even Mechwarrior games take place in a Type 3 Civilization which is more advanced than anything in the Gundam franchise.
Imagine what it's like to rule exoplanets, rogue planets or superearths. Yes, alien worlds beyond our typical moons and dwarf planets.
