There are two kinds of bad. So bad it's good, and so bad it's horrible. Fortunately, this show is so bad it's amazing.

It seems to be your average crappy show, until the decapitation scene. It all goes downhill from there. It inexplicably cuts to a hospital in one scene where the doctor tells everyone that the decapitated girl is likely dead. No shit! She was DECAPITATED!

The "story" (or lack thereof) is obviously loosely based off of (read: completely ripped off of) Neon Genesis Evangelion. Takeru (Shinji) is forced by his father to control MARS (Evangelion) to fight off the ancients (angels). AAST is obviously NERV, ... and the girls are the useless weapons that the UN shoots off like crazy. The plasma rifle is the positron cannon.

The music is always playing, and doesn't fade away, it just abruptly changes.

It ends with the message that humanity came from Mars and invaded Earth, and then ends abruptly.

As bad as this show is, it is one of the funniest things ever.

I was unfortunately forced to watch this abomination over a spread of three hours in a crowded cafeteria after final exams. I had brought my laptop and had forgotten to put any anime on it. "Luckily", one of the girls had a portable hard drive with this on it. This horrible show was on it. I actually enjoyed the first episode, as the homoerotic overtones and undertones were kept at a minimum, but as the series progressed, it became a shota-fest. I understand that girls really enjoy this show, and that's perfectly fine by me, but I wouldn't wish this show on anyone with a ... Y chromosome.
