Hello fellow Indian :>

It's a fair point, but I liked the fact that even though I already knew what it was trying to say, I've rarely seen the points being made elsewhere. I agree that it does get told repeatedly though.

I do plan to watch Jin Roh... I just take a long time to get around to watching movies, especially standalone ones.

By the way, you should check out the LOGH movie "Overture to a New War" if you haven't already. It's a very well made film that expands upon the events of the first few episodes of LOGH. If the series was made more like that, then I may well be on the bandwagon by now.

I actually thought the political commentary is the best part of LOGH, it touches upon many aspects of the democracy vs autocracy argument that gets swept under the carpet in this day and age where democracy has become a buzz word, and is fawned upon as the greatest political system of all that will magically solve the problem of every country that adopts it.

What I didn't like is, to give some examples (with spoiler tags in case people who haven't seen logh stumbles upon it), are

Basically, I'm under the impression that it's made by people who have studied history, but aren't so good at creating convincing historical events of their own. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take itself so utterly seriously, but when confronted by such a serious tone, and not being engaged by the narration, I've ended up doing a lot of nit-picking... and the trouble is that the show has tons of nit-picking that can be done on it.

it's very good, but quite overrated in my opinion. It takes itself very seriously but doesn't always have the execution or artistic flair to back up its good ideas. Still, there's are 30+ episodes left and it has improved tremendously since the first season (which was decent at best).

Well melodrama can be good, just that Ano Hana isn't very good at it :D I have enjoyed the occasional melodrama such as in Rose of Versailles and and Gankutsuoh.

lol looking at your favourites list, I don't think you'll like that either. I wrote a (hugely unpopular) review on that too, you can let me know your thoughts on it once you finish with it.

Thanks. Sad thing is that the comedy is actually the stronger aspect of the series... I would say its attempt at drama is far worse.

Is your DP from Tekkon Kinkreet?

Don't worry, I dropped Death Note a while back but I plan to watch it again.
