Okay.... I know this seems popular, but this was definitely not for me. I would absolutely call it appalling. I understand the main plot point is an excuse for some porn, but even MY suspension of disbelief has a limit.
The story is set in a school where students roles are divided in a pyramid of power. Why. Why make it a school setting? Why not an alternative dystopian reality? Chiaki and Kazuma have been dating for 8 years, and have been friends since children. Chiaki is sort of trying to deepen their relationship (while Kazuma is a bit more cagey and doesn't want to feel tied down), when their friend Tomoe contact them. She is pregnant! And when the child is born, she has to leave to the USA and ask them to take care of her baby.
The manga is a complete 1 volume, where Chiaki and Kazuma take care of their daughter (I think she ends up being around 7 years old by the end of the manga) and their new family also ...

I would call this one an average fair one shot, nothing special, just adorable and with some tropes (that I usually like).
The story revolves around two friends, ex-street delinquents, now reconnecting after three years. Taiga has been in a coma, after being beaten up, and now he wants to find Ryuusei again. The drama is all about Ryuusei clearly not wanting to be dragged back into the violent life of before, mostly because seeing Taiga hurt really shocked him, and Taiga being absolutely oblivious and wanting to hang around Ryuusei every second. The manga is full of fluff, with Taiga actively pursuing Ryuusei and not understanding ...

Menkui! is a strange one... and yet, I have read it multiple times and it is still one of my favorite BL manga ever?? It is hard to explain.
The main focus of the story is Kotori, who has quite a plain face and personality and a very beautiful and admired brother. This leads to some disbelief when his school mate Akaiwa starts to court him. Kotori has a bunch of issues, and he doesn't feel worthy of the attention, while Akaiwa is absolutely smitten with him. This was… an odd one. It’s an ongoing series, so I can only talk about the first two volumes. And the reason why it is odd, in my opinion, is not because it is set in a world where people are alpha, beta or omega, but for the way the manga deals with some tropes.

I didn’t even know omegaverse manga existed but here we are.
This is the story of two alphas, Takaomi and Kazumasa, who end up in an arrange marriage and are going through some problems, mostly related to the fact that they are not sure how the sex would work (as one of them is supposedly going to become pregnant, because mpreg exists in this universe). This review is MAINLY about the last chapter.
The main story of this manga was meh at best. I also intensely dislike any story about teacher/student relationship. But. The last chapter was adorable. It's called "Unbreakable bone", this is one of my favorite short stories ever, and directly falls into my preferred trope of “ex-criminal feels ashamed of his past” and “kind hearted guy doesn’t judge”. A short story but definitely one I go back to re read a lot, it has two great characters being kind to each others and communicating the main obstacle for the start of their relationship, like adults! Reading this… was a mistake. The story revolves around a newly arrived student who, unknowingly, antagonize the bully Sougo. But this is exactly what Sougo needs to decide that he wants to be the new student’s… slave? The story is complete and I have no idea what it tried to be. It’s not particularly pornish, so this slave/master thing is not an excuse to write that, it’s not particularly angsty… it’s just meh.
This comes with a bunch of warnings. There is a big non consensual warning for the way the “slave” character pushes his desires on the newly arrived student. Then, somehow, their relationships turns ...

This one has subverted my expectations because of how the two characters were represented, with the timid guy being quite insistent in his pursuit. I did after all find this in the tag “uke-like seme”. The art is absolutely lovely. Without spoilers, the story is simply the growing relationship between the two main characters (both students), one a known bully, the other one basically an easily flustered cry baby, but who is quite sure in his desire to make his newly acquired boyfriend happy and not lonely anymore.
Also, this one is incomplete and still ongoing. Plus it’s pretty graphic.... that was quite awkward. There ... |
