Shouwa is just great, even if I do kinda wish they would get back to the 'present' day story. They've spent a surprising amount of time in the past for a show with only 13 episodes. Boku dake is just amazing so far. Waiting for the huge backlash against it though. Its gained popularity too quickly and it's gonna probably become popular to hate.

You're right to stay away from Muv Luv. I really tried to force myself to give Schwarzes Marken a chance but the episodes just keep getting dumber and dumber. Now I just watch it out of obligation.

Still really haven't watched beyond the first episode of HaruChika, probably should, seemed decent enough.

Out of this season I've seen most of the shows for at least one episode. Apart from the ones I mentioned, I like Dimension W. It's got dumb, fake science but it's got a really likable main chick even if the main guy is a bit too "gruff and jaded with life, grr grr" for the show and comes across as a bit of a dick and wet blanket.

Phantom World is just odd. It's KyoAni so the art is great but the characters are somewhat dull compared to usual, the story is a bit bland and the weird amount of fan service often takes away from the show. They'll have episodes with no fanservice whatsoever like the 5th episode or even the 4th, but then they'll have this:

I get that. I usually try to watch the first episode of each new seasonal and then decide which of them I want to carry on watching weekly.

The two you mentioned are probably my favourites from the season so far in terms of general quality. Boku is a great story with an actually interesting mystery so far and Shouwa is just so unique compared to most anime out there in terms of its setting and character motivations. Sekkou is pretty unique too, but in a weird way. It's funny enough but not my favourite short.

I'm not sure what I'll stick with yet. I was really unsure of Schwarzes Marken before it came out because it's a spin-off of Muv-Lov Alternative which had a decent start then turned awful. It had a decent enough first episode, not as good as the original series' start though. I'm gonna be watching Gate because I liked its first season and I'll probably carry on with Myriad Colours as well.

Seems a pretty solid season so far in my opinion. I kinda want to check out that HaruChika thing just because of it's hilarious 'controversy' at one of the characters turning out to be gay.

your review for mirainikki was awesome.Yuno is one the most overated characters of anime just losing for kirito

Hah, curious what your opinion of SAO is then, don't think I can see it in your anime list.

That actually sounds like a fun wee spin off then, didn't know about the magical girl stuff. That'd be quite the departure from the real show. I'll have to check it out as well then.

You watching anything fun at the moment?

I am sure you would enjoy Aria then. I adore atmospheric shows too. Whether they are immersive and relaxing like Mushishi and Aria, or mysterious and philosophical like Haibane Renmei. I believe that ambience is the finest narrative element that creates some of the best shows in the medium.

Jeez, that went all dark. Now I'm expecting to hear a dark history of betrayal and debauchery that came from sudden anime elitism. Maybe blood got split over a discussion of "Is Naruto the greatest ever anime ever?"

But in all seriousness, yeah. Kino is absolutely fantastic and I'm weirdly holding on in the hopes of getting another season out of it. It was a bit weird to see that it got a school-girl spin off about her in a highschool though, kinda want to read those to see why they decided to do that.

There are a few translations of the Light Novels online but I kinda want to hold off until I can hopefully read them for myself. That's my wee motivation for myself.

Well, I may have been using some harsh words, but I'd love to hear your reasoning as a fellow otaku :)

Ah well, could be worse. I don't think I've hit the elitist anime fan level yet, unless it's Sword Art, then I'm all elitist.

It was mainly the atmosphere that hit me with Kino. Don't really even know how to describe it as my favourite anime. Wanting to read the original Light Novels is half the reason I'm trying to learn japanese.

Aye, that does sound better. I have to admit, never seen it but I'm aware of its mass appeal so just seemed an odd choice of words to say folks who like cliches wouldn't want to see it.

I have to admit though, your review has made me interested in watching it since I'm looking for another anime similar to Kino no Tabi, something to just curl up on the couch in front of. I'll have to give it a shot.

It's easy to throw random arguments to say that Mirai Nikki suxx, but your review was actually pretty good. Hope you're enjoying Evangelion and Monster.
Blackstarlsd Sep 30, 2015 10:32 AM
Your Mirai Nikki review was like;
"I dont understand and have no imagination, and you dont explain. So you sucks and i saw thru it all and im right"
Madaonaire Sep 30, 2015 10:29 AM
Kek, Mirai Nikki is full of stereotypical characters and Yuno is just there to be a yandere? I don't know what kinda stuff you smoke, but Yuno is your model yandere and there are very few yandere on her level. You can kinda say ANY character nowadays is stereotypical, simply because there are so many anime so that any trait has been used over and over.
Also the only plot holes you threw out weren't plot holes at all, they don't contradict themself and it's not like it is SO much of a stupid thing for a kid to have poison gas in anime. And hey, have you been watching the anime at all or are you just trying to sh*t talk it? Of course a guy able to predict the future with a diary can get around killing people without the police finding out, it IS his f*king diary power.

Better watch the kind of trash anime you like instead of going around and badmouthing actually one of the few anime with good plot and execution.

Yo I liked your Mirai Nikki review.
