I mean, if it's so bad, I'm not sure why you need the author to tell you it's bad. I assume part of it is wanting to know what the author thinks about the topic, so if they don't say "thing bad" or "thing good," then there's anxiety. Does he/she agree with me? For example, I've seen a lot of people express guilt for liking Lovecraft. There are plenty of verbal flagellation sessions on Reddit to be found. Sin expiation is easier when the author says, "thing bad," and "thing good" in the right measure. Must suck to be into garbage like Harry Potter that checks all the right boxes (I wouldn't know...) and then have to disown the author and books once that flips around, though. XD

Incidentally, I feel like a lot of people on here forget anime is actually made for Japanese and it just happens to be a cultural import...

Hahaha. Yeah, I think the nuts and bolts are there to tell a good story with Vinland Saga S2, but if idealism were a drug then that would be an overdose without any chance of return. :(

In Heavenly Delusion, the incestuous undertones aren't questioned as something bad, simply presented as personality traits and funny quirks. In GoT it's treated as disgusting and shameful. In Star Wars it's embarrassing and avoided thereafter. The twist in Oldboy literally grosses everyone out, did you even watch the ending?? Borat did it for a joke to mock stereotypes of the culture.

Oh, maybe so, but I wouldn't say that hinders my liking for CC. I don't remember well enough. There are some charitable and rationalizing takes on Char's transformation, but I can't really comment on that. I'll watch the movie again after I've finished the series (I did see most of the series years ago, but I can't remember how I watched it in relation to the movie). ZZ sounds nearly unwatchable, but it still has its fans. XD

It's at least one of the more depressing ones from what I've seen. I guess that and 0080, with only a few of the darker moments for 1980s series coming very close. I personally quite liked Char's Counterattack, but other Gundam either ties with it for me or is a bit better. I'll probably watch Turn A for the next Gundam... skipping past ZZ Gundam lol.

Yeah... I saw the whole thing of 00 years ago, and I think I saw enough of the other long ones like Seed and Wing to think that's the case—plus, original MSG and Zeta suffering from either toy line syndrome or thin plotting. I remember loving Victory Gundam, but it's been so long since I've seen it that I doubt it would hold up. I'm not sure if I should have any optimism for Turn A, but that seems to be pretty exalted amongst some of the fandom. Those brats really are asking for the Ideon movie treatment, aren't they? :P

I dunno how anyone could think this is the best. I've heard high praise for the final portion, but what good is that if everything preceding it is meh? It does have a nice aesthetic, but it's too long for its own good, I feel. There's not enough story for anything more than going from place to place and having battle after battle; looks like if you trimmed it down, it might be a decent 25 ep series (probably shorter, to be honest). Turn A Gundam might prove me wrong, but I've found Gundam is usually strongest with films and OVAs.

Lawlzmart is another user who... I don't know anything about him, but he wrote a number of reviews and a friend on here linked me to his profile to point out the prostitutes. What made it funny was that half his faves were generic prostitutes (literally named prostitute on the credits). He also has a Stalin avatar.

Well, I wouldn't say Z Gundam is great. I throw a few eps on once in a while. I actually though it was hilarious for the first few episodes. I still laugh thinking about the scene where the soldiers were making fun of him for having a girl's name, and his temper tantrums are actually kind of amusing for a while. Everything is calm, then someone mentions their parents, and all hell breaks loose and he flips out. XD

btw, this kind of reminds me of lawlzmart because he has like 4-5 different generic prostitute characters in his character lineup. There are actually a bunch more entries other than that Urasawa manga, so you could just have 10 Hitler characters for your lineup if you want to go all out. XD
