Hey, sorry for the late reply but I actually knew Homunculus beforehand after lurking on the site for things to read.

I read it in about two days. It isn't really as dialogue-heavy as other psychological manga out there which made it easier to go through. The premise really intrigued me but sadly I think things could have been done a lot better and I would have liked it better if they alloted more time to exploring the world of homunculi rather than the whole existential crisis the protagonist had. The development after the first act wasn't really my cup of tea because of how edgy it turned out to be. I'm all for edge but I think how everything played out was poorly written. Despite that, I thought the philosophy gained by the protagonist in the end was really relatable in a way but it's really not something I'd expect from the manga. So it was really disappointing to say the least. It kind of reminds me of the Old Boy manga which had a similar feel with the character conflict going on.

Yeah, I don't necessarily think it's poorly written but it just comes down to personal preferences and I really disliked that arc for reasons. As for the bog arc I think what you just said is a double-edged sword from one perspective, it can be seen as continually adding creative and unimaginable twists to the game and on the other, just adding bullshit one after another. I'm more in the middle. I like twists but there's an extent as to how many I could take. I don't really recall how much twists there were since I watched the show 2 years ago but I could see why people would become bored of the whole thing. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed all of it but I think it got stale after a while. Wouldn't mind another Kaiji anime but I would rather have a Liar Game / One Outs S2 adaptation if anything.

As far as I'm aware, there's a lot of scans missing for Kaiji so I haven't really looked into it. It's just that the amount of parts there are seems like it's stretching it a bit too much imo. But more mind games is welcome. Thanks, I'll look into it.

Hey, regarding the Kaiji rating it's mostly because of my utter distaste for the 2nd game. I get that it sets to establish as to what exactly Kaiji is dealing with but it really turned me off big time. I watched Kaiji for the high stakes and mind games but the crossing the bridge game wasn't exactly what I consider a mind game. The 2nd season went back on track and had reasonable games and cheats compared to the 2nd game which was literally unbeatable (well, except for kaiji). The 2nd season's 2nd-cour arc was too dragged out as well so that prevented it from getting any higher on my ratings. I still like the series overall but I think Liar Game and One Outs are a bit better in terms of game mechanic and mind games :)
