A mecha show with a unique concept done almost entirely in CG. What could go wrong?
Revisions begins in Shibuya, focusing in on second-year Daisuke Toujima. In the past, he was abducted then saved by a mysterious woman. He was told that it was his destiny that he would protect everyone from some unknown event in the future. Now, in the year 2017, the entire city of Shibuya gets transported 300 years into the future. mech called a “String Puppet,” to go against the “Revisions”. Now, Daisuke and his companions have to find a solution to fight off the revisions while trying to bring the city back to their original time.
First and foremost, the most prominent feature of this entire ONA is the CG aspect of the show. It’s not incredible, but also it's done very competently. The CG never went into the uncanny valley at any point. It just seemed like a normal anime. Not as beautiful or elegant as Houseki No Kuni, but it had its own moments shown in its fight scenes. It may sound like it's being downplayed, but it should be stated that this could be a big step in the future of CG anime. It looks good and is well made, if this is ever normalized, then it would truly bring out the best in what the medium of CG has to offer.
The main gripe of this show lies within its characters. Every character is awful in most regards. Although most of the complaints come from its main character. Daisuke himself. So his whole deal was that he was told at a young age that he was destined to protect everyone. And Daisuke took it far beyond the logical extreme. It’s taken to the point where one can compare him to a doomsday prepper. He has a copious amount of preserved food in his home. He’s hyper-defensive of his friends and protecting everyone to the point of random bouts of violence. In a good amount of his scenes, he mentions that it's his destiny to protect everyone, and uses that as justification to go do stupid things. During the events of the show, he runs headfirst into dangerous situations often and normally ruins things for everyone. He literally kills people by accident during one of his lack of planning and headstrong idiot nature. He’s also very self-entitled, believing that he is the leader for almost no reason other than that he feels he deserves it.
The side characters and villains are more tolerable though. Not because they're better, but because they're just cardboard cutouts. All four of Daisuke’s friends don’t really like him at all, and frequently complain about his actions and headspace. It doesn't even seem like their friends, but the show hits us over the head with the themes of teamwork and friendship. The villains are better written than the main group though. They seem to have more interesting individual motivations behind everything, along with some interesting character design. Almost nothing is accomplished between them, but they had a decent amount of potential.
While watching this show, at least during the first couple of episodes, the concept drives everything. It was super interesting to how everyone reacts to an entire city being transported to the future. One would think that there would be chaos in the streets. Like in so many other apocalypse stories before. But instead, the city organizes a provisional government. They keep track of everything, try to help find a way back to their time, and keep the peace. And the most interesting part is that people still listen to them, because otherwise it means certain death by giant robot. Some very smart things are done in regards to this provisional government and feels like the best idea the show had.
In conclusion, Revisions relies on mostly its concept and CG animation, which by itself is noteworthy. Although, the characters in the show bring the show to a lower level to the point of annoyance. It has ideas, but mostly wasted or not lived to its full potential here. Not enough to keep me interested. Watch it if you wanna see good CG shows. This is a Netflix show and was released all at once, so look there if you're interested. It’s a 6 out of 10. This has been your spoiler free but not really review on Revisions.

I don’t think it was made for me, but I resonated with it all the same. High score girl. Whatever I write here probably won’t put everything I love about this show on paper. This show takes place in the early 90’s with our protagonist, a 6th grader named Yugichi Haruo. He’s not very kind, and his grades aren’t the best, to be honest he’s kind of a shithead. girl from his class named Ono. Who absolutely decimates him in street fighter 2. After 30 consecutive wins against him, Ono follows him around various arcades playing various different games. From then on, the two create a strange bond with each other.
High score girl is a small slice of life comedy that takes place over Haruo’s life. From his elementary school years, until his first year in high school. The story describes his growth and how Ono along with the various other characters in his life, help Haruo grows and improve. This, by itself, sets itself off of a lot of other slice of life shows. Where they don’t go through long periods of someone’s life. The only example I can think of off the top of my head is Clannad, which is in my top ten and is considered one of the greatest anime of all time. Main difference is, aside from the smaller eyes, is that the characters are a bit more one dimensional then Clannad is. It's not that they’re bad, it's safer and uninspired. They fit into normal protagonist and -dere stereotypes, but they are handled in a wonderful way where you don’t mind. I must say, Ono is the only main character I’ve seen who never says a word over the course of the entire show. She only communicates by facial expressions, actions, and the occasional grunt. She’s cute though. Its heartwarming.
As you can guess, the show’s main driving point initially was that it has to do with being a kid in the 90’s and an obsession with video games. This describes its audience pretty well. It was appealing to mid to late 30’s Japanese men who grew up to playing these games. To them, it's a nice nostalgia trip tied up with a protagonist that they could easily imprint themselves on. I understood this from the beginning of the show, and I didn’t think I would particularly enjoy it due to how I couldn't relate to growing up in the 90’s. But, I was wrong, and ending up being very invested in these characters and how they’re relationship grows. I loved their character dynamic, and what they did together as friends. Just friends playing video games, Harou treating her as a rival and Ono just following him around.
Video games is the backbone of this entire show. If video games were involved I doubt this show would have gotten any traction at all for reasons I will explain later. This show was made/sponsored by square enix themselves. Therefore, they had enough to get entire clips of game footage where the characters explain and react to what's happening on screen. The very first episode they explained how some cheap strategies worked in Street Fighter 2. It's not just Street Fighter they reference and directly mention a bunch of big time games that were popular or hyped at the time. There was an entire scene talking about how hype they were for the new virtual boy coming out, which if you know you’re gaming history, didn’t do very well. High Score Girl really put you in the place of a kid that’s hyped for the newest games in the 90’s. I’m not even a fan of arcade games and I feel like I’m that kid being excited.
The main problem, which is pretty major when watching this show, is the animation. High Score Girl is an entirely CG show, but do not take that away from the experience this show can give you. But man, it does look pretty garbage. I loved the soundtrack for this show, especially with the OP “New Stranger” and ED “Houkago Di(e)stra(u)ction”. I mostly compare this show to Dagashi Kashi. Mostly where 1) its 2 people being brought together by the same passion, and 2) it's a show made to sell things. Yeah High Score Girl is an advertising show, it displays games coming out now in the transition periods between in the middle of the show where ad breaks would role. It’s sort of off putting, but it's neatly and clearly separated from what's happening in the actual show, so it doesn’t really matter. I give this show a 10 out of 10, with the recommendation for everyone and anyone to watch if they don’t mind some CG that isn't really disruptive to the type of show. Oh lookie here another edgy seasonal show. Angels of death! *Menacing* Angels of Death is about a 13 year old quiet blond girl named Rachel, who wakes up without any memories in some basement of an abandoned building. She wakes up and walks around for a bit and runs into this one interesting character. Some guy wrapped in bandages wielding a scythe named Zack. He tries to kill her, but after a series of spoilerly events they reconcile and decide to work together to escape the building they are trapped in. They are held together by 2 promises. he can to help get them out of there, and that when they finally get out, Zach will kill Rachel.
This is sort of confusing, because this is Rachel’s wish. Yes, she wants to die. We can check that motive off the list of edgy anime. But no, wait a minute, she only wants to die by Zack’s hands though. This is because Zack made a mindless comment on how he “swears to god” that he’ll kill her, and due to her devout belief, she takes that as a promise that she must help him keep. She's the smart one. The brains.
As most of these pairs go, Zack is the muscle of the duo. But not so much muscle as a violent, unstoppable, borderline supernatural force. He’s pretty stupid and relies on Rachel to give him orders a lot of the time. Well, it's not as much as relies on her, its just that he takes what she tells him to do, and takes it as a suggestion instead of something that will get them out of there faster, easier, and without harm. From what I can see, his only motivation is killing. He’s only helping Rachel because 1. He wants to kill her, and 2. He wants to get out to kill some more. All of this is in a character design which looks like a 12 year old child of divorce would create. Bandages covering his body entire, black hoodie, bloodstains all over his body, and one of his most prominent features, his huge fucking scythe he just carries around with him for the entire show. I called him a supernatural force earlier because this fucker just won't die. Over the course of the show, he’s been stabbed, blogdended, ripped open, poisoned, fucking took the electric chair multiple times, and walked away with minimal injuries. To end it off, Zack’s voice is awful and makes ME want to take the electric chair when he laughs.
Enough about him, let’s get into the wondrous story they give us in Angels of Death. As stated earlier, they’re trapped in a mysterious building, and they’re working to get out of there. They work together to solve puzzles, defeat villains, and get to higher and higher floors. On every floor there’s a villain trying to kill them and who they have to defeat to get to the next floor. These are the characters you’ll see in the poster art. These characters aren’t really notable and are just as edgy as the main characters. Mainly in the sense where they just want to kill without little motivation to do so except they like to. The protagonist also find clues to learn more about themselves and their pasts in the process.
You may have read back in the previous paragraph and squinted your eyes just a little bit when I said that they solve puzzles to get out. Maybe you thought it was just some bad wording on my part, but, in fact, they are puzzles. Now you see, Angels of Death was originally a game. Not only a game, an rpg maker game. You can find and play it on steam right now. I don’t know how accurately the anime follows the game, but the fact that there are scenes in the anime that directly reference to what I assume were real puzzles in the game. At one point, with no sense or irony at all, they find a switch to open a door hidden underneath a pot. If that doesn’t scream game adaptation, I don’t know what is. The anime also has a fuck ton of these long corridors for these characters slowly walk down, which is very game like. With these unnecessarily perfect adaptations of the game, you gotta wonder what creative liberties they took with the anime in the first place. If I would’ve watched a lets play on the game, would I have the same experience as I had while watching the anime? I mean, as a game, it has a pretty interesting concept. The protagonist teams up with the first floor boss and goes through the game and watches the 2 bosses duke it out. But it just doesn’t transfer to anime I feel.
The thing about the animation, is that it sucks most of the time. But, for some reason, I don’t know what, the blood splatters that come out of the body looks really good. I the art makes an impression I guess. I mean, its not pretty at all. But it mainly having to do with lots of fun and unique character designs, despite everything being edgy, they look good I must admit. They really represent their character.
One more thing about this show which, in my eyes, is despicable. At the end of the anime, it's a cliffhanger, you know? Pretty shitty, but the thing is that all the rest will be revealed in the specials revealed in the blu ray release. This is incredibly scummy to me. Having the rest of the story in the specials, means that nobody will be able to finish the story without buying the actual blu ray disk. Legally at least. I guess you could buy the game, but anime onlies are going to be very angry.
I give Angels of Death, a 2 out of 10. I recommend to whoever just wants to watch an terrible edgy show for the lolz. Or just likes edgy stuff.

the qualities of their mythical creature counter parts. Jashin wears no clothes and has the bottom of a snake, much like Miia from Monster Musume, with blond hair hiding her tits. Medusa wears ancient Egyptian attire and turns normal humans to stone when they look at her eyes. Minosu wears cow themed clothing and looks like what you think a typical cow girl would looks like. There’s also Pikola, who is an angel who has lost her halo and is stuck on earth until someone comes to pick her up, but in the meantime she’s homeless. She is also best girl.
As you can assume with this type of show, its mostly carried by the scenarios and personalities these characters bring to the table. Mostly interacting with the two protagonists, Yurine and Jashin. Jashin, being a demon, is a terrible person. She constantly does these deeply immoral things to the point it's even fucked up even for fiction. In reaction to this, Yurine often takes some overly comical weapon to do almost as awful thing to her back. Like bludgeoning her to death, or chopping up her tail and making it into stew, or sticking her into an iron maiden. You get it right? Yurine is a genuinely nice person despite her cold personality and the fact that she eviscerates Jashin everytime she does something horrible. Which is often. And she never learns. If Yurine wasn’t there to punish Jashin for her evil doings, then this show would just be a terrible person doing terrible things. Which wouldn’t be fun at all.
The show’s art and animation, in my opinion, is stellar for this type of show. For just some slice of life comedy it's pretty great. The characters have a chibi, shiny look to them with some fluid animation to boot. It really makes the slapstick hit harder.
In conclusion, Jashin-chan no Dropkick gets a 9 out of 10 for me this Summer anime season. I always looked forward to watching it after work on Monday’s. It's reminiscent to Gabriel Dropout, except more adult, if that makes sense. So if you like that, then give this show a shot. Labeled as a drama sci fi show, Island takes place on an island that is isolated by the rest of the world. the daughters of the three families, named Rinne Karen, and Sara, and by a mysterious man that washes up on the beach devoid of all memories. Except the fact that he is named Setsuna.
This show is quite obviously a visual novel. It has three girls, and a protagonist that looks generic as have the watcher imprint themselves on them, and a story that clearly shows all of the girl’s story options. Now me myself haven’t played or seen any gameplay of the game, but with basic visual novel tropes I can guess some things about the anime based on that. So the anime tried to adapt all of the endings and make it flow into a cohesive story. I feel as though this backfired though, because it feels suddenly split from one girl’s storyline to the next one, which made things more confusing for me. And it doesn’t help either that Sara and Karen’s story ended before the 6 or 7 episode mark. I guess in this visual novel there is a very specific girl you were meant to follow, and they tried to make the majority of the show about that. That in and of itself isn’t bad, but it feels like the other two stories were rushed. Especially with Sara’s story, where the revelation and the twist happened literally in the span of 10 minutes. It was resolved as soon as they knew what the problem was. And after both their stories were finished, they were forced to the sidelines almost immediately, now acting as side or even filler characters to react to what they protagonist and Rinne does.
Its mentioned in the synopsis that the island is cut off from the rest of the world, which suggests a more tropical, deserted island feeling. But, this isn’t the case at all, and is pretty industrialized for what it claims to be. It seems to be receiving manufactured goods, so the only way its cut off is that the families won’t let anybody enter or leave. Another issue is with the genre tags used for this show. The first half of the show doesn’t have anything to do with sci fi at all. Even some of the middle episode after that only hint at some ancient technology before we get hit all at once during the last 4 or so episodes. Before that its a slice of life drama with a piece of mystery through and through.
The characters in this show represent your basic girl tropes in anime. Karen is the blond hair tsundere who is the daughter of the family that currently runs things. Sara is a shrine girl loli that works really hard to compensate for her family that has gone off the map in terms of politics. And Rinne is the main girl which has the most backstory and development behind her. The protagonist I already touched on as being your typical anime protagonist. I can’t say the any of them are good characters. There are always leaps in logic and stuff that should have been obvious, but wasn’t. It doesn’t go far beyond in accordance to their personalities. They’re mostly carried by their stories.
Island’s story is confusing, rushed, and boring. The first 6 episodes were very very slow, almost completely ignoring the sci fi tag. And even when they did go into the mystery more, I just ended up not caring for anything they were showing me. Or in this case, telling me. Maybe if this show was more then one cour or season, they would have had the time to flesh out the stories of each character more. I feel like they stories they presented were genuinely interesting, but it was just presented in such a way to the point where it became a snooze fest full of characters I don’t care about.
The art in this show is below average. In terms of both character art as well as background art. On a tropical island, you were expect to get long shots of beautiful beaches or some pretty pictures of some of the scenery you would see. Island has that, but they don’t look good in the slightest. If the show takes place in a setting where it's supposed to be bright sunny and beautiful, I would assume you would spend more of the budget on its art. This show’s animation is also sub par. Its very stiff and it doesn’t do much extra when it comes to its “action” scenes. It's not on the lowest tier of animation I’ve seen, but it's enough to notice that something is wrong here.
Island, for me, felt like it had more to say. But its short run time made it feel like they didn’t get enough stuff into it as they would’ve liked. Anyway, the end result is a bad show all around. I recommend this to someone who wouldn’t mind waiting for a while to watch a only decent sci fi mystery. Maybe someone else can appreciate Island more than I could. I give this show a 3 out of 10. Wasted potential, an all around mess. Its this show, Darling in the Franxx. Darling in the franxx takes place in the post apocalyptic distant future, where these humongous half robot half lizard like beasts called Klaxosaurs are wreaking havoc on the last of humanity. Humanity has been pushed into these small bio-domes, called plantations. To combat these Kalxosaurs, the humans use their technology to engineer giant robots of their own, called Franxx, using children born and raised to pilot them. one of these parasites, and the protagonist of the story. Upon his graduation, finally allowing him to pilot a Franxx, he feels a lack of confidence and runs to the nearby forest. In that forest, Hiro meets a strange pink haired girl with horns, who calls herself Zero Two. Zero Two is also a parasite, with an infamous record. She has been known for killing her partners when in a franxx. Suddenly, a Klaxosaur attacks and Zero Two invites Hiro to fight with her. Shaken by the attack, he obliges and they beat the Klaxosaur easily. Now they’re partners.
This show was first met with a ton of hype. And this continued throughout the entirety of the show. Darling in the Franxx is the newest product from Trigger. This time, they partnered with A1 pictures to make this thing. During Darling in the Franxx’s airing, it had easily built a very committed, very large community. Unfortunately, this community has a list of mistakes and examples of toxicity behind it. The biggest and most prominent one being the various death threats being thrown at the staff behind the show. This uproar was due to an unfortunate plot point that happened between some various characters. Darling in the Franxx’s genres include Action, Drama, Mecha, Romance, and Sci-Fi. The first mecha anime that has been hyped to this level in a while.
Darling in the Franxx honestly started well. We were getting introduced to this amazing world with beautiful music, and some awesome robot fights with oh so fluid animation. We were introduced with an intriguing story and interesting characters at first. Emphasis being, at first. First 10 or so episodes, everything was going well, dips in animation quality here and there, but that's excusable. But by episode 10-12 finished, the entire show slowed to a halt. There were barely and Franxx v Klaxosaur fights like what we saw in the first dozen or so episodes. In the next 10 or so episodes, the Darling in the Franxx, explained how a lot of the characters and supporting cast. And this, was not very interesting at all and honestly generic. What those episode did was focus on characters that I have no interest in, and don’t care about at all. This was when the show became irredeemable to me. A lot of the community was still loving it though, even if there was a split in the various “best girls” of the show. There was some less than stellar world building, as explained further by your Mother’s Basement. But then the late game rolled around. And there was a plot point, that was just so inexcusable, so unnecessary, so confusing, and just oh so bullshit that it makes me mad even when I’m writing this. For the last 4 episodes, nothing was good about this show.
From the beginning, Darling in the Franxx went on a downward slope. With its shitty community defending the show to death, god awful pacing, and just terrible plot points with no previous warning to. It started really well, if only it ended on a high note by its first arc. That being said the technical parts of the show are very good. Animation is by Trigger and it shows and with a lot of budget from AI Trigger was able to make the most of everything they had. The art and character designs are great and recognizable, even if the characters are not. Music can be honestly great and hype sometimes, mainly during the battle scenes that barely happen. But, again, the actual content in the show has made Darling in the Franxx the absolute worst mistake of an anime that Trigger has ever made. I recommend this show for people who want to see some aesthetically pretty, ambitious garbage. Or to watch the descent like I have. I give this show a 3 out of 10. It is rare that I find a show that I love so dearly. It is even more rare that a sequel of it comes out. Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan 2 is that sequel. This show is about a psychic high school age boy named Saiki Kusuo. Saiki has various powers, including teleportation, telepathy, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, x-ray vision, and a plethora more without even scratching the surface of his powers. Even with having all these powers, Saiki only wants a normal life. But, the various characters around him lets him find himself in situations where his normal life would be in jeopardy.

the most underrated anime in the west. Imagine Mob Psycho 100, but all of the drama and story has been cut, and it's a gag anime. Saiki K is a slice of life, shounen anime, with the manga being published in Shonen jump. It’s been 2 years since the first season came out, which I severely underrated myself. But after an amount of time, once the second season aired, I realized what I had missed all that time.
In the first season, I took the wonderful characters for granted. I was so glad when they came back. I missed them, in a sense. The jokes come fast and quick. After one joke you laugh, and once the next joke rolls around you’re still recovering from the last one. It's a hilarious and character driven ride that you won’t regret watching. The animation is nothing to look at, but its not necessary to make this a good experience. The art is also nothing special, but the character designs are top tier and recognizable. Both the OP’s for this season are fun and ridiculously catchy.
I recommend this show for everyone and anyone with access to this show. I give this show a 10 out of 10. This has been PixEFit’s spoiler free, but not really review on Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan 2.

Jesus Christ this was a trash fire. Beatless is about the journey of a high school aged boy named Arato. Arato’s world takes place in the far future, where hyper realistic robots are common and prevalent. These robots are called hIE’s, and they’ve integrated themselves into normal life as servants. is responsible for everything that she does. Therefore, he has to deal with those related to and enemy of his new hIE, named Lacia.
Now, that synopsis doesn’t sound that bad, but trust me when I say the show is much much worse. Female robots are nothing new, and a show based around them isn’t either. But me personally has had a bad experience with them, first with Chobits, which I found descent, second being the more recent Clockwork Planet, which was a complete shitshow. Looking through the Winter anime season, this anime is 26 episodes, I thought to give this type of robot girl show another chance. And with watching this show once a week for 6 months, it has ruined the genre for me.
So the main issue about Beatless is that it doesn’t make sense. The show has so many conflicting plot points that: 1. Just don’t work, and 2. Makes it so nothing is resolved, 3. It doesn’t even matter in the long run. In fact, there are so many things that don’t matter that they have to make not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 recap episodes. And I doubt that was done due to a confusing storyline. Because from a look of the show, they didn’t have a lot of budget to work on. Art and animation is severely underwhelming, along with a soundtrack that is only decent at best. Every single character is one dimensional, retarded, and make complete one eighties at random moments as the barely coherent demands.
Arato is the worse case here. He falls in love with Lacia, his robot, who has specified that she doesn’t have feelings. Yet, he goes to great lengths to protect her, even putting real human lives in danger. Although, the worst thing about this relationship they have forged, is that the show doesn’t depict this show as a good thing at all. It doesn’t give their relationship any good points. Beatless just shows them being together, nothing spectacular, but the length Arato goes to keep their relationship isn’t worth it. The conflict in the show doesn’t even come from their relationship, but only as a catalyst for more trouble to occur. The main troubles of the show come from those who are after Lacia, which include the government, a secret organization against hIE’s, and Lacia’s other models or “sisters”. Lacia’s sisters are a major part of the show, 5 of them including Lacia, and they all represent a different part of human progress. Weapons, evolution, etc. And the end point of the show is that they all try and make a different future, according to what their owner wants. This by far is the most interesting thing about the show, to bad it's covered by bad, well, everything.
This show has no redeeming factors. I cannot recommend this to anyone whether you like this type of show or not. I give this show a 1 out of 10. This has been PixEFit’s spoiler free, but not really review on Beatless.

A love story better then twilight? I don’t think so. Devils Line is a show about the love story of a normal college girl named Tsukasa and a half vampire named Anzai. In the world of Devils Line, vampires live among humans. They don’t look any different than humans, but when they are exposed to blood, they turn into bloodthirsty monsters.

physical abilities, and transform into a monster with blood red eyes, sharp claws, and huge fangs at the sight or smell of blood. Once a vampire gets exposed to human blood, they tend to get addicted and look for more. You may ask a question about Anzai, is it a vampire that is also a detective, or a detective that hunts vampires. The answer is, it's both. Anzai is a vampire investigating vampires. He is part of a government organization that specializes in tracking down various devil threats. Devil are the common name for vampires in the world. One night, Anzai is tracking down a devil serial rapist and murderer. Anzai finds him and stalks him for a while, until the murderer meets with a girl that fits his M.O., Tsukasa. Anzai then intervenes and fights the murderer in front of her, introducing Tsukasa to the world of devils and Anzai.
The rest of the anime consists of the relationship of Anzai and Tsukasa, Devil human relations, and an organizations working to eradicate all devils. Tsukasa and Anzai’s relationship is the most like twilight. Complete with Anzai stalking Tsukasa, Anzai almost raping Tsukasa, Anzai saving Tsukasa from being raped, and Tsukasa liking him back despite all of that. Although, a devil human relationship is dangerous, because a simple cut can trigger a devil to kill their partner. But Anzai and Tsukasa make it work. So as you can see, the romance aspect of Devil’s Line is not very good. I find the devil human relations more interesting. As stated before Anzai is a devil detective, so he has first hand experience with what the devils struggle with on a daily and when they come in contact with blood. The general populous don’t know about devils. If I say anything more it would be major spoilers. But how the world reacts to the appearance of devil's is the most interesting part of this show.
Unfortunately, aside from the stalking that takes place, the cast is stupid. They make stupid decisions and conclusions are very predictable. Information that should be known by doing any amount of experimentation is treated as a brand new thing revealed to the cast. Anyway I can’t recommend for the love story, which the anime focuses on a lot, but for the world. It's also an edgy mess, if that isn't clear from the vampires. The art isn’t very good, but there are times where the animation really shines. The music is not worth mentioning. Characters are retarded and don’t make good decisions, but that's to be expected from this type of show. I give this show a 4 out of 10. Sometimes you enjoy something you shouldn’t. Magical Girl site is a show about a poor unfortunate girl named Aya Asagiri. Her life, is just the worst thing you can ever imagine. She is physically and emotionally abused. Both in school and at home by her brother. In school, three girls make her life hell. At home, her brother beats her until she pukes. Magical Girl Site is a horror, drama, psychological, and supernatural anime. From the synopsis, everyone and their mother knew what this show was going to be like. It was going to be edgy. And it was edgy. People died. People had psychotic breakdowns. There are those chaotic edgelord destruction characters. Dark backstories. Rape. They even cry blood. The entire show is like that, with no light at the end of the tunnel. All this edge is of course a bad thing, but the thing I was interested in was the situation around the magical girls, and their powers. A magical girl, in the subject of the show, is a girl who has had a bad life and was pitied by the administrators of the Magical Girl Site. These girls are given a “stick” which holds magical powers. They all take different forms (Gun, phone, pair of panties) and all do different things (Teleport, stop time, mind control, respectively). And the fact that the girls have to have a terrible upbringing, (or at least have a bad event happen) makes them have a reason for the dark edgy backstory. If they didn’t have a backstory like that, then they wouldn’t be a magical girl in the first place.
I watched this show as a guilty pleasure. I just stare at these characters making bad decisions and get in these bad situations then solve it by being edgy. These nothing special about the technical aspect of the show. Art and animation is fine. The OP and ED are wild though. You gotta see it yourself. Being an edgy magical girl show, you gotta compare it to the widely successful Madoka Magica. These anime aren’t really similar aside from the obvious. They’re both just dark, magical girl anime. If you just want to experience another dark magical girl anime then watch this show. Also if you just want to watch it because you want to watch stupid edge for the sake of it.
