The Tatami Galaxy is a creative work, at times contemplating and at times blatantly satirical. It is an exemplary work in all of the sound design, art, and animation along with its creative storytelling. However, at its core, its episodes seek different ways of answering the overarching question; "how can I live that 'rose-colored' life that I always dreamt of?"

Its primary characters are uniquely simple, so simple that they only have one-word names. In contrast to the three main characters, there exists a cast of slightly more complex characters arrayed around the main character that create intrigue and add depth to the story. It's the read more

Spoiler-free review:

This was overall a pretty solid movie. If you liked the TV series of No Game No Life, then you'll probably like this one.
It takes place as a prequel to the anime series, set in the warring time period before Tet became the true God of the world.

Story 7/10: The story hit most the points of a good plot. It had an engaging introduction, effective rising action, a jarring climax, and a beautiful ending. Its biggest pitfall is the lack of consistent tone. The movie finds itself with a much darker story and art style than the show; consequently, a more somber, read more

This will be a very in-depth review.

This is the greatest movie that I've ever watched. More objectively speaking, based purely on critical reasoning, there is much to discuss, but the beauty of this movie trumped all of that. I will begin a more critical review of all of its strengths and flaws, but first, let me give my experience.

I watched this movie alone, without anyone around me, without a worry for the time. Without this, I imagine my experience could have been different, as it's difficult for me and many to make themselves vulnerable outside of the safety and comfort of privacy. I cried. I, read more

This is one of the better-aging pieces of the older generation of anime, but despite that, its age still shows. The primary driving point of this anime is the plot and story, but even then, it requires patience and willingness to enjoy this anime. Thus, the accessibility and overall enjoyment of a casual viewer is lowered compared to other anime. Despite these criticisms, this is one of the few good psychological anime out there, and I intend to give it fair review and representation.
Story 8/10: This is the reason to watch this anime. Without spoiling anything, it follows Lain and her experiences with increasingly supernatural read more

I will start by saying, were my personal enjoyment of this show not an 11/10, it might be a 9. I know I'm biased, but even entirely objectively, it is an outstanding show.

It is a romantic comedy anime set in high school. Yes, it is a classic tried and true formula, and yes, it sounds bland. Despite the stigma surrounding this genre for its generic main characters and the shallow harems, this show manages to not fall into the same pit traps. It takes all of the aspects of the genre that are positive, and offers its own creative input to both elevate the formula read more

First of all, let me say that this was one of the most polarizing shows I've ever watched. I absolutely loved the great art style, smooth animations, and uniquely mysterious plot. At the same time, I was frustrated with the direction the show was taking.

Here's what I mean. The first few episodes establish several key components to a great story, an absolutely riveting hook, a set of complex characters with great design and interpersonal interactions, and a catalytic environment to push a heavy plot. In specific, the set of main characters all had different personalities, backgrounds, and styles with more than just one or read more
