What do I see? could this be a great BL manga?
Yes, you are not dreaming! This could very well be the start of an excellent series. Apparently, the author heard the prayers of millions of BL fans and chose to go out of their way to write an interesting story.
It focuses mainly on Satoru, a hatter, and Ryou as the latter came to Japan to die. It starts with their fateful meeting and goes down from there.

be well written? yes, they are! very human and deep and realistic!).
Even without the romance it could stand on its own like that. I would even rec it to non-BL fans without hesitation, and it means a lot.
The art is just the cherry on top! It might get you a while to adapt if you are used to the typical yaoi anatomy, because it is very peculiar, but this style is very enjoyable and dynamic.
See, fellow BL fan? You can have quality!

Hello, fanservice my old friend!
If you were waiting for a direct sequel for Sousei no Aquarion, you will be disappointed. But if you don't have anything to watch and are itching for some corny romance and fanservice aboard big mechas, then go ahead and enjoy the show. Once I got what the show was about, I was able to enjoy it fully.
I was drawn to the series by its colorful and pretty animation, and the show doesn't disappoint in this regard.The story as a whole doesn't make much sense to me but, as stated before, we are not here for the plot

but for the romance and big mecha fights!
Most of the characters are pretty silly and overdramatic (and also a bunch of horny teenagers). The show delivers its load of bishounens and bishoujos at will and it focuses on their relationships with the other gender by slapping some ridiculous situations, cheesy lines and metaphors as subtle as... an elephant in a room maybe? I found myself snorting at how silly the whole ordeal was.
That said, if you are here to watch mecha fights, you will be served.
In the end, this show is pretty enjoyable, if you are into that.

Originally written by ONE and published on his website, OPM is now fabulously drawn and adapted by Murata Yuusuke. This noticeably remained a web manga, allowing the artist more liberties.
This manga is outstanding thanks to its main character, Saitama, an average looking guy whose hobby is to be a superhero. OPM is a brilliant comedy that uses well known tropes to its advantage, surprising and amusing its readers easily.

The plot isn't the strength of this series, but that is not what is expected of a fighting manga. However it does play with its characters expertly, knowing how to make best use

of them. Great storytelling in this manga looks like child's play and it is hilarious most of the time.

If you haven't seen Murata's work in Eyeshield 21, let me tell you, this is a treat to the eyes. His work is detailed and distinctive. He also included animation frames he drew for some fighting sequences that the upcoming animation team will have a hard time surpassing.
Characters: 10
Cornerstones of this manga, the characters are mostly hilarious parodies of the action genre. The whole fun of this is how the main character contrasts with the rest of them. While being a totally average looking nobody, his personnality and position in this whole mess makes him stand out, for our greatest enjoyment.
The only regret we can have is the obvious lack of female characters (2 so far and they are sisters).
Enjoyment: 10
A refreshing manga full of good ideas and characters, something that will stand out and surprise you if you read too much of the same typical shounen stories.

Love Stage!! is a pretty good surprise in the BL genre. It's not incredible but gives us a fair love story and enjoyable characters.
Story: 6
The setting is common and overused in both shounen ai and shoujo manga, but it's not too long and unfolds well. Once you get into it, it can be pretty heart warming and has its inspirational moments. It's a relief that there are no dub/non-con in this story (and it is pretty sad that I have to mension this in my BL reviews).
Art: 6
Pretty good for a BL anime, and still very pink.

LΦVEST by SCREEN mode is a cheerful and happy tune, not unlike every other j-pop songs you could have heard in animes so far.
I admit it... I started watching LS!! because I knew Hirakawa Daisuke and Yonaga Tsubasa (respectively Rei Ryugazaki and Nagisa Hazuki in Free!) were acting in it. It was nice to hear their voices in the same anime again. Overall the voice acting is good.
Characters: 6
The characters aren't especially well written, but they come off as funny and enjoyable. They all have a little something that makes them likable in the end, and it is all we can ask for. I especially feel for Izumi, the main character.
Enjoyment: 7
Yes! a decent BL love story! It's common and unoriginal but it keeps its promises.
Overall: 6
If you want to watch a cheesy BL story, Love Stage!! is a pretty good choice. It's short and nice. Don't expect a masterpiece and you will be pleased with what this anime has to offer.

So bad it's good!
If you are looking for a terribly written shounen ai anime with the most cliché characters and a ridiculous story, Junjou Romantica is the anime you need to watch! (it has dub-con, be warned)
This is a must-see if you are a fan of the genre and want a good laugh. If you really want to watch something good (and I assure you, good yaoi does actually exists), I suggest you run far away from this.

becomes funny.
Story: 3
Extremely poor. It doesn't really have a plot and the setting is perfectly common (it is not set in a high school so it could have done worse, really). The side stories are the ones that should get your attention the most, since the main one doesn't have anything to tell. Don't worry, you probably won't be able to remember anything about it in a few month, except that the main relationship is based on non-consensual acts (it means rape).
Art: 2
With its dorito faced seme and soft cheeked uke, JR's character design is the most typical one you can find in the shounen ai/yaoi genre. You wouldn't differenciate the characters if it weren't for their hair color. It's also full of yaoi anatomy examples, as expected from the author.
Sound: 5
Actually it's pretty average and the opening song is absolutely what you would expect from a shounen ai anime. Perfectly cheesy and cheerful.
Characters: 3
The characters are flat and only consistent in their love interests. To be fair the side couples and characters aren't so bad, you could almost find an average romance story if you were to overlook the two (very annoying) main characters.
Enjoyment: 8
As I said, it is an absolute must-see for BL fans along with Sekaiichi Hatsukoi. Something to enjoy with your BL fan friends.

Let's face it, this anime and its spin offs are terrible but can be very enjoyable. I am torn between wishing nothing like that will spawn from Yaoi Hell ever again, and waiting for another gem like this one to land in our lives and cheer us up.
