Who doesn't love themselves a good harem series every once in awhile. I admit, I do. Normally when I'm not looking for anything in specific. A good harem series can be that middle ground where i can experience a bit of everything from every genre. From drama and romance to action and comedy.
Saekano or "How to raise a boring girlfriend" is not only an exceptional harem series, but also very inspirational. Now you may be asking the question, "How can the words harem and inspirational go together?" Well it deals how our protagonist Aki Tomoya and the 4 girls in his circle who strive
...
to create a dating sim game that will move the Otaku nation. The show deals a lot with Otaku culture, and the struggles and difficulties of being a creator. Which is something i found to be not only inspirational but extremely relatable since I am a creator myself.
There's also a lot of great lines used through out the show that can serve as great advice not only for creators but for anyone who has a dream they want to achieve.
This harem series, has some great comedy, a lot of which is centered around otaku and anime references. Which most will be able to catch onto and get a good laugh out of. It does have fan service, but it's more subtle and done in a way that makes each scene it's used in more comical and enjoyable rather then the more direct and overused approach of having ass and boobs thrown in your face that some find to be annoying.
I highly recommend this series, if you are looking for a harem series, that is not only extremely comical but also looking for something to motivate you. It's excellent.

There are many aspects that contribute to the mysterious beauty that is Made In Abyss. One of which is the first thing you'll experience going into the introductory episode. The incredibly detailed and beautiful environment, influenced by the original creator of the story Tshukushi Akihito which embraces or should i say swallows up the viewer. But personally one of the better aspects had to be the scripting and writing, for one the narration that was done my Maaya Sakamoto, is one of the best I've heard in a extremely long time. It not only did a magnificent job reinforcing the mystery
...
and drama through out the story but it wasn't overbearing either.
Now when if comes to the conversations and interactions between our two main characters Riko and reg. You could not of found or made a better partnership. The amount of friendship and trust between these two is unparalleled. Which is why when the drama starts it hits us with incredible impact. Because when we see strong characters like these two suffer, it makes us think. "How can this happen?! Come on you have to make it through this."
There are also some really wonderful supporting characters that get introduced, who play an incredible role in adding elements to the story. This is where I need to get credit to the voicing cast because the voice is what makes the character. Ohara Sayaka who voiced the roll of Ozen did a magnificent job, keeping the audience on edge with her very menacing yet straight forward demeanor and tone. But if you were to ask me which two characters I feel had the most impact, they would have to be Riko and Nanachi. Tomita Miyu confident and cheerful tone mad Riko a very lovable character that we would want to empathize with and support. While Shiori Izawa's role as the sarcastic nanachi, not only surprised us with a very compassionate and selfless side to the character but introduced us to one of the most dramatic and heartfelt backs stories in the series.
The character designs, which were handled by Kise Kazuchika, did an excelent job making us fall inlove with the characters. Even for some of the more minor supporting ones like Kiyui who is one of my personal favorites. A huge factor that plays into this is how some of the orphanage children look younger then what they really are. For example, becoming a red whistle starts at the age of twelve. But just by looking at the children you would assume their 7-9 years old at the oldest. This is why there is a strong since of discomfort though out the story and why the drama in it is so powerful.
It's the the same disturbing thought of taking small defenseless children and placing them in an very unsettling and unpredictable environment to fend for themselves, that makes us feel weary and nervous through out riko and regs journey.
Now the creature design are a work of art of all their own. Each living thing from the abyss, was designs by Kou Yoshinari and added it's very own since of discovery and unknown danger to the story. Now the Animation for the series, was handled by Studio Kinema Citrus and aided by the incredible direction of Kise Kuzuchika who is known for his excellent work in series like Escaflowne and Evangelion.
But nothings compares to the incredibly beautiful sound track that was composed by Kevin Penkin. His music really did a magnificent job, bringing out the magic in each scene and the emotional investment we have in the story. And from my own personal experience, no matter how many times I listen to it while watching, it never seized to move and captivate me.
Made in Abyss is incredibly captivating watch, filled with wonderful characters, and a story that is so profoundly moving and beautiful that you have to experience it for yourself. So I urge you, if you haven't done so already take the challenge and journey into the Abyss.

You Know it took me a little while to figure out just how i was going to talk about this series. Because unlike any other series I've reviewed so far. "Girls' Last Tour" doesn't have a designated story plot, that I can explain at length or go into heavy detail on. Instead what we have is the story of two young girls and their day to day lives and discoveries as they travel through a post apocalyptic world.
Now that being said, the scripting and writing does a good job, when it comes to relaying the realism and relevancy of the story. As a lot of
...
the the conversations our two little rays of sunshine Chi and Yui have together, are what would be considered really appropriate for the theme and setting the series provides us with. Such as, survival, hopelessness, wondering if there's even a meaning to their journey, and even questioning the meaning of life.
"Girls' Last Tour" normally has a lighthearted feel to it most of the time. But there are some parts of the series, that offer a since of mystery and others that can be found to be truly moving.
Now on the subject of characters, other than our two little rays of sunshine Chi and Yui there are some minor supporting characters that get introduced. However they don't tend to stick around for more then one episode each so I can't really go into any detail on them. There's also talk of the girls' grandfather through out the series, who remains introduced. And I guess you could say that Girls' Last Tour is a lot like Kino's Journey in how it deals with travel and exploration just with out the drama.
The character designs which were done by Toda Mai really let you fall in love
with the characters allowing you to empathize and feel for our girls as they continue on their journey. Which suited the series perfectly for the setting and theme that it has. I honestly believe that if any other character design had been used, that the series wouldn't of been able to capture those desired feelings to well.
Now the animation on the other hand was handled by studio White Fox, who has an amazing track record for many works including, Steins Gate and Re:Zero. And speaking of amazing the end theme is absolutely incredible.
First off it's a beautiful sketched animation done by the original creator of the manga source Tsukumizu. And the theme song "More one night" fits the series perfectly as the lyrics sung by our girls express how even though their situation may look hopeless they still have each other. I know this because I created a video review on my channel about the series where I translated the ED. You can check the video out below.

"Girls' Last Tour" has one the most delightful soundtracks that I have had the pleasure of listening to. There are a lot of very calming and beautiful musical scores used through out the series which enhances the all around experience and investment that the viewer has in each scene. And as we all know music plays an extremely important part when it comes to creating a scene. It's that pull that makes us not want to look away when the protagonist is about to kiss the best girl. It's the dramatic sound score that we hear mixed with a very intense battle action scene.
But my personal favorite track from the series is the song of rain.
All around "Girls' Last Tour" is a great watch for anyone who is looking for a lighthearted adventure, with some very adorable and lovable characters.
Now the only critique I have for the series, is the story could of used a little drama to further enhance the emotional investment we have in Chi and Yui as our main characters.
Now if you have already watched the series, and are looking for something a long the lines of "Girls' Last Tour" but with a little more action. You can check out "Kino's Journey" or you can check out "Made In Abyss" from this past 2017 season. Both of these series deal with exploration, but they also have a good bit of decent drama in them as well.

Youjo Senki is a fantastic series, that tells the story of a head strong and confident salary man who played everything by the books in hopes of climbing the cooperate ladder. Only to find out fate has other plans in store for him. I won't go any further into story then that due to spoiling. But I will say, that this series, is a must see simply because, the story is one I feel we all can relate too.
It is extremely entertaining, and has incredible animation and sound tracks.

In 2011 Japanese Author, Shiden Kanzaki wrote a manga that to me is one of the best stories to date. Do you know which one I'm refering to? Come on.. you know. Ok, I'll give you a hint, kick ass little girls. I'm Talking about Black Bullet. This series is one that remains on my "re-watch" list, constantly, and no.. not because of the kick ass little girls, or the Hot katana wielding chick Kisara. But because of the endless emotional rollorcoaster and lessons that the story relays, and i would be lying out right if i said i

did not shed a tear at all while watching this series.

The year is 2021 and mankind is facing a war against an awful epidemic called gastrea that has the power to mutate it's victoms on contact. Our Main protagonist Rentaro Satomi and his adorable twin-tailed side kick Enju Aihara are part of a Special Security team that specializes in extinguishing the gastrea. Enju is Known as a cursed child, The cursed children, are children who were effected by the epidemic at birth, but not to the point of mutation. They also are able to fight off gastrea due to the genes from the epidemic allowing them special abilities, some are teamed up with officers as partners or as the series has it, Initiators.
However the rest of society shuns them and blames them for their losses, even goes as far as trying to kill one of them off out of fear, even though these children are the key to saving humanity. Which is sad, because the lost children are human, and are just trying to be accepted as people, and co-exist. I won't go any further into it than that, but I do believe this series teaches us the importance of not being prejudice, and not to judge or forsake others just because they are a little different. It also teaches us the importance of being human, and to not let ourselves grow accustom to the losses of others.
A truly beautiful, yet emotional story. I give it a solid 10 marking. It's got some really good action, and fantastic writing.

---------------------------------
So many unanswered questions.
As we all may know kadokawa is famous for their harem/demonic/ ecchi series. High School DXD, Testament of New Devil Sister, and High School of The Dead. Today we are going to be looking at one of their series that came out in 2013 "Strike the Blood".Now before we get too far into this, I want to let you all know, that even though I'm going to be pointing out some good and bad in this review. I actually did enjoy the series to the point of
...
re-watching.
premise:
The, basic story, is focused around our protagonist Koujo and our female heroine Himeragi. koujo was your normal every day highschool student until a prior vampire acquaintance of his forces him to become her successor. Known as a progenrator. "Spoiler" Koujo is said to be the strongest.
List of questions 1: useless hoody
Straight out of Episode one I already had questions, like why our main character is walking around with a hoody on complaining about the heat. I guess it could be to conceal his identity as a vampire or hide from the sun. But then again we have this other vampire dude who is able to walk around in day light and is just fine. not to mention Kojou's vampiric instincts and traits don't even start to show till he is turned on by the opposite sex, so why the hoody?
In the story about midway into episode 1 We find Koujo going through a motion like he's suffering from a killer hangover or migraine. This was brought on by Himeragi questioning him about how he was once human and was able to become a progenator. Koujo then replies "Sorry, himeragi I can't remeber anything from that time, every time i try I'm wracked with pain..". .... Uh ok.. What and Why does this happen? The story never goes in any further as to why koujo can't remember, anything from the incident. or as to who or what is responsible for it. I can only assume, that Avorora some how erased his memories, or that this is the price he had to pay for becoming the 4th progenator. In episode 1 we see scenes that serve as flash backs where Koujo attempts to stop Avarora from doing something before she turns to ash in his hands" But nothing that shows where him becoming a vampire starts, or anything that references why he can't remember anything from the incident. The only other thing I can think of is, maybe it's trama from the incident. Or The writer just felt they had to add some type of drama to the story in that regard, but then completely forgot what the reason behind the drama was. it leaves us in the dark about it, as this topic is never brought to light again through out the rest of the series.
Now don't get me wrong this series has it's good points. It's got some pretty good comedy moments, and if your into the ecchi like I am you got pretty much all you need, I mean it's kadokawa. But the story leaves so many unanswered questions. For example: in episode 15 and 16 Why Kojou's sister just so happens to inhabit Avarora's spirit. And Why Kojou's mother knows about it, not to mention how kojou denies the fact that his mother has any idea that he's a vampire, even though we know she does because she knew he was injured in the exact spot where himeragi's spear hit him. I even watched the OVA's thinking that maybe we could find out more about these unexplained events. But nope the OVA'S just dove into a completely different plot.
Some other things that really just grind on my nerves. Was the constant over use of "From here on this is my fight!" "NO senpai this is our fight" they could of at least switched the lines between the characters every once in awhile. To mix it up a bit.
There's still time for me to speak about how I loved that the Akebanashi Rockets did the first opening theme. I wasn't too found of the second theme though, I've never been a fan of Japanese mixed with English themes.
As far as the series is in general I honestly believe the whole harem thing was done way better in High School DXD and Testament of New Devil Sister. The irony in that is DXD was released one year prior of Strike the Blood, and Testament of Sister new Devil was released two years after. But on a scale of 1-10 this series ranks a anywhere from 5 to a 7 in my honest opinion. It's watchable, funny, and matches it's genre tags. So if you like harem Ecchi series, Give this one a go. But avoid if you want a full story.

If your'e a slice of life fan, like I am. you've probably already seen this series. But, If you haven't seen it, well you need to leave this review and go watch it right now... Really just go.
______________________________
The series revolves around our MC Sorata. Who is trying to find his goal in life, and due to his harbing a cat on campus is asked to move into an off campus dorm called Sakurasou, there he comes in contact with some very unique and entertainning characters. I won't mention all of them so lets just get to the best one shall we.
Shiina Mashiro,
...
Shiina by far is my favorite character from this entire series. Why, because she's a character I can really relate to. Shiina is considered in the series as a Uchuujin. Which is japanese for Alien. But the way it's used in the series is to describe someone, who is ecentric, or unique.
Anyway, after Shiina moves into to the dorm, sorata starts to realize, this and is put incharge of tending her. However little did he know Shiina is actually a world renound painter. And quite the Mangaka. This is turn causes sorata to gain huge respect and admiration for her, and helps him decide where his correct path in life is, and later finds himself in love with her.
__________
Reasons to watch:
The story the series relays I believe is one we can all relate to. It will allow you to feel so many different emotions through out the entire series. Hell I nearly balled toward the end of the xmas episode, wherre Shiina held out the cake to Sorata. Damnit water works started again. Sure it does have some of your basic tropes in there. But the way every part of the story leads to another great development. Really makes this series, shine and stand out more than any other in it's genre.. at-least to me that is.
_____________
Remember how i said earlier that Shiina is my favorite character out of the series. and how I find myself relating to her. That's all true, because believe it or not i am also what would be considered an Uchuujin. That and she sets a greatn point that states "people of that nature aren't simply space cases, so to speak, but can actually do and become great things regardless of their disability or faults." Not to mention and need I say it BEST GIRL like literally guys, best girl. just saying DON'T TOUCH MY WAIFU! XD
_____________________________
I loved how each and every character, that lived in or moved in to sakurasou in the story immediately got drawn into the action with comedy situations. It showed alot of each characters individual personality you really get a sense of who they are and their story. And the great thing is most of these situation are things we can relate to in everyday life. The one arc where Nanami struggled to become a voice actor, was really one of the best for me. I just can't compliment the creator enough, this series is gold. Go check it out!
