I'm also on the Fandom Post forums as "Serial Experiments Nobue".
In the beginning, there was Voltron. I was a kid then, and it was the coolest thing on TV. Whether or not I knew it was Japanese, I can't say. But as an elementary schooler, I had never heard of "anime". It was just an awesome cartoon.
Then in high school, I did learn about anime through a great little show called Sailor Moon. I became a big fan of the series, but anime as a whole was still something "out there" that I didn't really know about.
In college, it happened. Toonami was airing this awesome show called Gundam Wing, and I was hooked. So this was "anime", eh? I decided to check out what else was coming over from Japan and being aired on TV, and I was liking what I was seeing. The first series I discovered after that which set me down the path to becoming a full-fledged anime fan was Tenchi Muyo.
The rest, as they say, is history. In the fifteen years or so since I became a fan, my tastes have widened and I have discovered many great new shows. With any luck, every year I'll find more new stuff to add to my collection!
Spoiler Notes: I have a zero-tolerance policy on spoilers. I don't give away spoilers, so I don't want any given to me. This is not negotiable. Spoilers ruin the enjoyment of a story, and I avoid them at all costs. Spoiler tags exist for a reason. Please use them.
- My ratings for titles are all relative to themselves, not to other titles in my collection.
- Most of my dropped series are those which I had been watching on TV and are no longer airing, or I am not able to keep up with any longer.
- "On Hold" titles may or may not ever be completed. Some of these titles are in this category because I am awaiting the next published volume. In some cases US publishing or airing has ceased and I may never be able to read/watch it all.
- Favorites on the sidebar may change from time to time, reflecting the fact that I can't always narrow the list down to 5, 7, or 10 items. ;)
