Good job on that Grave of the Fireflies review. You give an interesting narrative analysis of the film.

Since I saw the anime many years ago, I don't really remember enough to compare the two. If you are wondering if you should read it or watch it, I guess both would be valid options. While I very much love the manga and see it almost as perfect, the anime has many pros-great OST, the visuals are more "clear" and the work of Dezaki Osamu as director is wonderful giving the series the perfect dramatic punch with his usual style. Overall, I don't think you would miss much no matter what you choose, so just pick the method of your preference :)

gurren lagann. 5.

what the fu-

perfect blue, favorites

ok i understand

"something doesnt need to be abstract to be good boi."

and really it's not that crazy. you probably play life too safe and don't understand the concept of doing what you desire in especially in a case of getting humanity into a better spot so it can live on the surface that is filled with enemies. it takes a lot of hard work and miracles to get there, but the whole story progresses logically. realism shouldnt be a factor in your reviews at all since it's a nitpick unless it's really bad. which is not the case with gurren lagann.

That's exactly what happened with me. The first few times I watched it, I liked it but didn't think it was anything more than simply a tone piece. But then some time late last year I rewatched it again and fell completely in love with everything in the movie; its characters, their struggles with identity, its incredible audiovisuals, its rich history, its amazing animation, its thick, haunting atmosphere. So pretty much everything.

Profound is a great way to describe it; the movie carries this sense of incredible, melancholy insight that is executed in such a beautiful way. Truly Oshii's magnum Opus, even if Angel's Egg and Patlabor 2 are also great (which i definitely recommend if you haven't seen already).
