TOGETHER IN LOVE WITH ANIME AND MANGA SINCE THE '80s
Me and my darling began to watch anime and read manga long time ago during our childhood, with our first series being various old classics like
Maison Ikkoku,
The Rose of Versailles (Lady Oscar),
Gundam,
Hokuto no Ken,
Doraemon,
Dash Kappei (Gigi la Trottola),
Time Bokan Yatterman,
Saint Seiya,
Haikara-san ga Tooru (Mademoiselle Anne),
Kimagure Orange☆Road (È quasi magia Johnny),
Dr. Slump: Arale-chan,
Tokimeki Tonight (Ransie la Strega) and
Ox Tales, to which we should add when the '90s arrived, other great titles like
Ayashi no Ceres,
Magic Knight Rayearth,
Sailor Moon and
Cardcaptor Sakura.
IN THE 2000s AND LATER
Finally in the 2000s and later, a special mention goes to
Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO) for all the good time we had with Onizuka,
Samurai Champloo for its amazing trip in the old Japan of EDO period and the great Lofi soundtrack by
Nujabes,
Death Note for its unforgettable protagonists,
Clannad and its sequel
Clannad:After Story for all the tears and the stunning visual art, as well as the deeply emotional
Your Lie in April. But the list is still long and we should also add
Anohana,
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai,
Attack on Titan,
Violet Evergarden,
Welcome to N.H.K.,
Arte,
Tora Dora and
Beastars.
NOT ONLY ANIME SERIES....TIME FOR ANIME MOVIES TOO
In addition to series, we also never regret having a nice pizza for dinner while watching great anime movie classics like those by
Studio Ghibli,
Makoto Shinkai and various other studios. As our long time favourites, we must certainly mention
Howl's Moving Castle,
Spirited Away,
Princess Mononoke,
My Neighbor Totoro and
Kiki's Delivery Service by
Hayao Miyazaki,
The Tale of the Princess Kaguya by
Isao Takahata and
From Up to Poppy Hill by
Gorō Miyazaki. We also wish to add some
Makoto Shinkai works, in particular
Kimi no Na wa (Your Name),
5 Centimeters per Second,
Beyond the Clouds,
Garden of Words and
Weathering with You, as well as various other titles like
Wolf Children by
Mamoru Hosoda,
In this Corner of the World,
A Letter for Momo,
Penguin Highway,
Hello World,
A Silent Voice,
Josee the Tiger and the Fish and
Maquia.
COLLECTING ANIME ITEMS....WHY NOT
Sometimes when possible, we also like to collect physical DVD, Blu-ray and limited edition boxes, as well as items or action figures of our most favourite titles, including for example Saint Seiya action figures or the popular Gundam gunpla models.
SLICE OF LIFE - OUR FAVOURITE ANIME GENRE EVER
Lastly, regarding our favourite genre, we are really in love with
Slice of Life romantic comedies, especially those depicting the
heart-warming atmosphere of Japanese suburbs, landscapes, schools, or popular cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Kamakura and many others, with those typical scenes like a sunset sky set on fire, a distant Japanese train passing through a bridge over a calm river, the Fujiyama in the background and crows or black kites filling the air with their beautiful call.
OUR ANIME PASSION GOES ON....
Whenever we can feel again that special atmosphere of our journey in Japan, that's the perfect anime for us. So as long as we'll find a new one, we won't stop watching anime!
Thanks for reading us!
Cheers! ♥
