I'll let someone else fill in the obvious recommendations of other Studio Trigger/Gainax works, but if you love how ridiculous either of these movies get in their final acts, you'll most likely enjoy the other one. In short: After an already surreal premise in both movies, giant robots suddenly intrude and drive the plot to its conclusion.

Megalo Box

So I heard you like underdog tales, where the protagonists enter the big leagues and pull out victories they should never be able to! IGPX's Team Satomi and Megalo's Team Nowhere will take on unbeatable odds, both of them with a hip hop soundtrack that will leave you feeling Toonami af the whole time.

Poputepipikku
add

If you at all enjoyed Pop Team's ridiculous, non-stop humor, I think you'll love Inferno Cop. It's less than an hour, available on Crunchyroll, and the best decision you'll make in your entire life.

Devilman: Crybaby

When men are cornered by monsters, it can be tough to distinguish the two. If you find yourself yearning for more violent mortality and characters of questionable morality, you might like a quick trip through Devliman CB. While AoT's ongoing story and mystery span seasons, you can get a complete story wrapped in a nice bow from Devilman's ten episodes.

Poputepipikku
add

Poputepipikku is a bit more disjointed than Space Dandy, but they're both totally off the wall and poke fun at numerous anime tropes. There's little to no continuity in either, and each is full of cartoon antics--exactly what animation was meant for!

Kidou Senshi Gundam Unicorn RE:0096

Do you like political drama and big egos with even bigger machines to execute their will? They each have a very different take on this general setup. Where CG has an active main character that makes things happen, UC displays a very passive main character, only reacting to things around him.

Kidou Senshi Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky

It's terrifyingly awesome to be on the business end of a Gundam. In both works, you'll see what it's like for the mobile suit pilots who aren't space psychics. The horror of warfare is laid bare with little to no preachy, moralistic ragging from the characters, and killer animation.

Gundam Build Fighters: Battlogue

Bottom line: Animation produced for the sole purpose of making you want the toys. No cumbersome story line or thematic elements, just robot fights. Sweet, sweet robot fights.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
add

Both series focus on exceeding limitations, breaking through barriers, and trying to reach a place of stability and safety. Both also feature colorful characters and combatants, just substitute armaments for mechs. Additionally, this was the first show I ever watched from beginning to end, and ignited my passion for ardent anime viewing--which soon led to Gurren Lagann.
