Jigoku Shoujo is one of those animes where you have to wait for the wonderful treat at the end. As many people have stated and I'm sure any viewer will notice after a few episodes is that this series is VERY repetitive. I would say that there is a reason for it in giving viewers a small taste of the hell Ai has endured for many years.

Ghost Hunt (Anime) add
First off what annoyed me of the series. Really it wasn't much other than with how the mini arc were set up it just didn't feel like you really knew any of the characters much better at the end of the series compared to when you first had them all dropped in your lap. I craved to know more so badly while watching and perhaps that was the hook that keeps you watching. It seemed like in each arc you got one more tid bit about a character. Mixed Feelings
BBB was released in the 3 DVD format. Nice in that three rents and you're done and generally the 3 DVD format lends itself to a formula. Now give or take but disc 1 is intros and set-up, disc 2 is the build of the story, and disc 3 is the conclusion.

I watched the first disc and was hooked. Full out "gimmie" mode hanging on release dates keeping all hope for them at the top of the netflix queue. Disc 2 though sent out the warning flags. What's going on? Why are we still introducing characters? ...
