I loved Itazura na Kiss more than I loved my entire existence. It was my life. The lead characters got together, they got married, they had a kid, it was awesome. I thought it was way better than the anime in which the characters take the whole season to realize their feelings and act on them, and there may or may not be a kiss at the end. I liked it, it was nice, it was good. The guy was good for eventually liking the girl, and the girl was a hero for getting the guy.

Story: A girl's house breaks down and she and her father move into the house of her father's friend, and the son of that friend just happens to be the girl's crush, who does not like her back, and he makes this fact very clear to her. The two are on two polar opposites of the academic spectrum, with the guy being the smartest one in their school, and the girl is among one of the dumbest. The girl lives her life with this boy in her mind and does anything to please him. The anime shows their life starting from the end of high school, and goes well into their adult life. What I don't like about this plot is the plot. It's a romance anime, so it should be about romance, but I just do not like the romance. Yes, the love is unrequited at first, but later on, the two leads are mutually in love, so it should seem so. The whole time, I just felt like I was watching how a girl with low self-esteem handles herself in an abusive relationship.

Art: I liked the character designs, Kotoko is cute, everybody looks different, but they failed to show what makes Mr. Genius so handsome to everybody. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but considering how every girl in the anime is willing to kill herself for some Irie, he is not that much of a catch. Since not much was invested in developing the main guy's non-existent personality, they could have made him a bit more charismatic.

Sound: I like the opening and both endings, I also love Kotoko's seiyuu, I am a fan of her music and I think she is a perfect fit. We could have gone without the "Irie-kun!!!!~" though.

Characters: Easily the worst part of this anime. The only reason I didn't give this a 1 out of 10 is because I like the mom.
Kotoko is dumb. Everyone in the anime knows she's dumb, but they seem to be confused as to the reason why she is. They think it's because of her grades; that is why they think Irie, who is stupid too, is a genius, because of his class rank. What. a. load. of. bull. Kotoko has no self-esteem. I do feel bad for her, but at the same time, she is not real. The creator of this anime tried to make her love story seem like a beautiful thing, like winning the heart of a guy who everyone thinks is too good for her is an awesome thing, like pleasing him so he thinks better of her is great for her. How awful. She's no angel though. While Irie only likes her because she feeds his ego, Kotoko only likes Irie for his looks and popularity. There is literally no other reason. They don't have heart-to-heart talks about their feelings, they don't laugh togther or acknowledge mutual issues. The whole anime was just Kotoko embarrassing herself. Irie is an example of that one bad ex many girls have who is supposed to help the girl realise their worth, work on themselves, and find someone else who respects them. Irie is portrayed as a smart guy who is bored with life, and is not very ambitious, because he is so good at everything. Maybe he is insecure deep-down, but the anime never touched on that. They could have done more with his personality so we can understand the roots of his douchebaggery and make him into a more like-able character. Maybe Kotoko brings out his ambition, or maybe she makes him a better person, but the anime made it seem like she was just a source of entertainement to make his life less boring. Irie could have been a great character. He could have been nicer to Kotoko, and Kotoko could have grown a backbone but no.

Enjoyment: At first, I enjoyed this anime because I thought it was good, then I enjoyed it because of how bad it was, now I just can't enjoy it.

The first time I've seen this anime, I was about 4 years old, and I didn't know how to read subtitles and watch at the same time. So, I just sat and jammed to the 'music' and looked at the pretty colors.
Things change. Lol.
Story(7/10): I'm not gonna spoil anything, plus it's such a drag to write a synopsis on something most people here already know or are at least a bit familiar with. To be honest, I don't completely understand what the main plot in this series is. Is it saving the mermaids? Or defeating Gaito? Both? Idk, but I was engaged nonetheless.

While it was entertaining, the series is 52 episodes long, so some of the pointless filler was not appreciated at all. Leave room for some character development. A lot of the time, I was left wondering what the main focus is, or thinking "where tf are they going with this?".
I also do not appreciate how half the series consisted of the main trio defeating their enemies, and they're all like "dammit I lose again! I will get youuuu".
Reminds me of Dora the Explorer, which is not a good thing. However, the parts of the show which consisted of actually rescuing the remaining princesses were really good. Good enough to save the rating from hitting a 5, which it could have.
Art(8/10): I feel that the characters were drawn really well. Transformation scenes were cool, as well as the design of the mermaids. I liked the vibrant colors, and the diversity of the characters' looks. Nothing wrong here.
Sound(6/10): One might say that this rating is a bit harsh considering how I quite enjoyed this anime and it's sound played a rather significant part in it. Yes the opening and ending themes are nice, and the character's voices are fine. The songs were pretty okay, for teen jpop from the early 2000's. I can say that an impressive effort was put into making each song sound different from the other (no shade there 'Idolm@ster' huh?). Heck, the villain songs were even better.
Given all this positivity, one would think that my rating would be higher, right?
WRONGGG. Here's why...
The songs were repetitive, and I mean REPETITIVE. The same song would be played for the next 10 or so episodes and when my computer has a problem buffering, it becomes my worst enemy. First two times, I'll jam to it. One would think that 100 times would be more than enough. Apparently not, for whoever produced this.
Also, there's something about the conversation part of the sound that puts me off. Maybe its the background music, which I hated btw. I dunno, it just sounded cheap.
Not very impressive.
Characters(2/10): Easily the worst thing about this anime. Main characters are boy-crazy idiots who seem to think with their feet and not their brains. I'm talking about Luchia and Hanon (Don't worry, Rina will get her chance to go completely OOC and blush every five seconds in the second season).
Anyways, if you add all the words spoken throughout the season, and subtract the names "Kaito" and "Tarou-chan" from the two girls' vocabulary, you will be left at about 10. Like come on, these girls were raised in a castle, so they should be expected to have at least a few ounces of dignity! Very painful to watch for the most part. The actual love interests are not very interesting either. The main guy, Kaito, although very important, makes me want to flip a table. You can't search for your mermaid, and lead on a human girl, who is in fact the one you've been looking for, but you aren't aware of that. In the end, he finds out the truth, and everything is all peaches and cream from then on, but here's my problem: why tf are all these characters so stupid?
Luchia has the same voice and necklace as your mermaid! And she's also obsessed with you. Take the hint and at least ask the girl. If she admits it, she won't have to suffer the consequences, and no one gets hurt, because you found out, and she didn't have to tell you. Ugh the cringe.
But then I remember, good decisions are not good for any plot.
Now the villains:
Even more stupid, especially when it comes to recognizing their enemies on land. No wonder they always lose. Their leader, Gaito is no better. He's lazy, and has no reason at all for the things he does do. And you expect me to feel sorry for him in the end because he was lonely? NAH!
Characters were awful. They stunk. I hated them. Bye.
Enjoyment(8/10): Hahaha, I enjoyed this anime for the wrong reasons. I like seeing people dumber than myself get themselves into situations for the dumbest reasons and use their "kawaii popstar powers" to get themselves out. Art was cool. The last three episodes were eventful. Characters sucked. But I enjoyed this.
Confused aren't ya? Hahaha, just go see for yourself. If you like shoujo anime, you'll get a kick out of this. If you are a fan of common sense and logic, as well as character development, I suggest you JUST DONT DO IT!

I watched this anime and it's predecessor when it first came out, and I decided it would be better to review this once I got a bit older, and started to see things differently. A great decision if you ask me. You'll see why.
Story: Ichigo is 16 now, and is participating in this sweet shop project thing with her new squad , because the others decided to leave and pursue their dreams, and since I'm getting bored, I'll stop here. the limited amount of episodes there were, a great time was spent around this whole 'love square' that happened throughout the last season, as well as this one. All the boys are obsessed with Ichigo, we get it. And can we talk about how 3 whole episodes were focused on Mari and her struggles? I thought this was about Ichigo becoming a professional pastry chef. I guess not...
A lot of the things I hate about the story has to do with the characters so I'll stop here. 5
Art: Sweets are gorgeous. Character designs are great. I like how this season showed how hard puberty hit these kids, lol. I do wish characters were less scrawny though. Other than that, not bad. 7
Characters(so help me): Hands down the worst thing about this series. Ichigo, who is the main character we have to see in every episode, is very annoying. Actually, annoying is too nice a word to describe her. Yes, she's determined and nice, but there is a fine line between 'nice' and 'pushover'. Has she ever thought of walking up to her enemies, looking them straight in the eyes, and asking "what is your problem?" A few cold glares and punches could have made her easier to deal with. Well, at least she's not a tsundere. Her boyfriend/frenemy/bff/rival Kashino is equally as annoying as Ichigo. He likes her, doesn't wanna make a move, and gets annoyed when someone else does. This is why Johnny, the last addition to the squad, is much appreciated, at least by me, for heating things up a bit. The other characters are meh, but the bad stuff is just ugh. 4
I did not really enjoy this, but it made me appreciate season 1 a lot more. This season was purely a wish fulfillment for kids who wanted to see romance, and a failed one at that. The romance was forced and cringe-worthy, and now I'm happy that they didn't show the kiss. The main "couple" was void of chemistry and compatibility, and only caused each other more problems. Its kinda sad, since when I was younger, Ichigo and Makoto seemed like the ultimate OTP.
Moral of the story: If it hurts, don't do it.
As for enjoyment, I'll give this a 5, which is too generous

Finally......I can review something I actually kinda sorta enjoyed quite a bit.
Story: A poor girl gets accepted into this prestigious school for the extremely wealthy and blah blah blah. What I like about the story is how its not too complicated. It is easy to follow and for the most part, and keeps watchers entertained. Unfortunately, they seem to keep most of the interesting parts in the manga portion of the series, which is a letdown. For instance, I would have liked to see at least a little bit of the romance that happens between the two main characters. Its quite a shame since

they are both have great personalities, and aren't annoying like other couples(cough*kirito*cough*asuna*). The story also seems a bit generic. Maybe it wasn't at its time, I mean the anime is kinda old, but that whole 'rich boy meets poor girl' kinda gets annoying after a while. I have to hand it to the anime for at least making the rich guy sweet and likeable.
I'll give the story a 6.
Art: While its not deplorable, the art did not exactly wow me. I found the flowery backgrounds quite corny to be honest. I wish the animators would have spent more time giving some life to the characters and their facial expressions. The actual character designs were great though. Haruhi is cute, and the boys are as handsome as they are meant to be.
The school uniforms for the girls need to be burned though.

Sound: Whoever voiced Haruhi deserves a hug. She doesn't sound like an overly kawaii character who swallows a bucket of helium before talking to people. Nice and chill. I like it. I recognize Tamaki's voice actor from other anime, and he's great, but at times I wish he'd tone down on the dramatic lines a bit. Others are fine, but nothing too special. 7
Characters: Now this is what surprisingly made me enjoy the anime. Haruhi possesses qualities that other anime heroines lack. Shes as smart as people say she is. She is also kind, caring, but has her limits.
Oh, and she's short. Like me. So for that she gets extra points :p
Tamaki is gorgeous, and acts like a prince, but is not shallow, which is something that's important to me. I really like how fond he is of Haruhi, and how much he cares about his friends. It made me want to be friends with him, which is good, because that's how main protagonists should be. They shouldn't make you want to punch them in the face, at least not all the time. I do wish his past wasn't talked about so late in the anime. It could have served a better purpose than some of the filler. As for Hikaru and Kaoru, I have mixed feelings. Hikaru is my main problem. I couldn't tell if he was a nice, a devil, or a tsundere. Kaoru is fine, Mitsukuni is kinda annoying, Mori is bae, Kyouya is......hhhhhhhhhhhh i dont know or care, and Renge needs to leave. Now from this, you'd think the character rating would be mediocre. Nah, the dad was amazing. He was funny and refreshing.

Enjoyment: If you like shoujo-related stuff, this might be just the anime for you. The stuff that's good is very good, but if you like action with tons of character development, run FAR FAR away.
But this is about me, not you :P So i'll give it an 8.
