Came here from the sketch topic, your's is not bad at all, especially for something drawn long time ago, so you probably improved, if you practiced that is :D

You handling school ok? I know its cliche but dont forget the summer assignments >_< I almost always left them to last minute. I like honey melon myself, I find watermelon too annoying because of all the seeds.

Try fullmetal alchemist brotherhood, i was avoiding it for a long time since I saw the alternative version years ago. But its pretty good so far, although i still have some mixed feelings when watching it. Manga-wise Octave really caught my attention, as did another which is close to my toplists whose scanlation just finished after years of hiatus. Its called Honeymoon Salad. Both titles are romance based with slice-of-life; but really are for more mature readers - although featuring nothing that would be new to you :P

Hey... yea been a while. Nothing much, taking time to do a bit of gardening and some DIY stuff around the house. Life's been keeping you busy huh?
TCHaos Mar 22, 2012 3:34 PM

hows it going?

ah i think the rest of my previous message got cut off.

Well i still think the best option would be to ask pet shops if you could internship for a short time, i am sure groomers would enjoy having this type of attention, say you would like to get a real feel of what the profession implies etc etc. Because even if you read up on stuff its a totally different experience if you can actually do things and see its more difficult side - if at the end you still enjoy it, then you know you should invest more time.

well conservation is really a mixture of disciplines, because the problems affecting biodiversity not only are ecological, but usually tied to politics, socio-economic and cultural issues. Personally i like more the biological side of things, like trying to start captive breeding programs for rare species, or how to control invasive species. But i also know that more work is required in forming partnerships with people, businesses, and governments to help protect natural areas. so for example my last project looked at how do we make the public and investors care about rare and little-known species. You can imagine that in today's society information sways decisions and opinions, but how can you inform a public about a species you have hardly any data on? Without the investment you can't fund the research you need to discover the species' habits. without the money you cant get data; and without the data you cant get the money! Consequently you can see that these will always remain unnoticed. Charismatic things like tigers, whales, parrots can quickly get the public to support their programmes, but the problem is these represent a minor part of biodiversity. much of life is actually insects, invertebrates, fish etc, and it is them that we lack the most information, because everyone else will rather look at exciting things like pandas, elephants and sharks. So I tried to see what sort of things could be done to change this trend. ^^ sorry if its rather boring and long explanation.

so when i advise you to get some first hand experience in these jobs is because I had a totally different idea of what a conservationist job would be. since i thought it was mostly working with animals and outside, (there is this too) but mostly its solving social/cultural problems and lots and lots of researching, writing project proposals and money applications and running meetings >_<
so REAL LIFE skills you should be learning in school is stuff like presentations and writting essays, doing 4 projects at once, and working together as a group with complicated people ^^;... oh and how to behave in parties xD

what did you think of spice and wolf? I really liked the relationship between horo and lawrence

I'm good. It's good to meet you. : )

Oh, thank you! : ) I love yours too, it's cute!!

shes nice ^^ and like that its fine, but some people really pimp their yorkies and then i think its ridiculous. I personally prefer medium to larger breeds, i get scared that if i grab something like a yorkshire they being rather fragile, would break >_<
I used to have a black cocker spaniel, but i think after having the experience would opt for a short-haired dog.
just randomly

well the fact you are even learning japanese is already something, seeing as i assume its not from within your family lineage. do you take classes or do you tutor yourself? I sometimes entertain the idea of actually learning it as i would love to one day visit japan for real (just to buy all the cool anime merchandise * w *) but i think i should perfect some of the other languages i already do know before trying to pick up another one at a half-assed atempt.

I think there are 2 anime tv specials but because each one is like 100mins long I think its more accurate to call it as a movie format. However there is actually a REAL-Life deathnote movie; ryuk is in CG

i also find its frustrating when you have to wait for the next chapter to be translated... some of the ones im reading take months, so i try to avoid manga which are on-going and not completed.

Haha I see you were just doing some sort of maths problem before you replied !
I understand, i too also found a lot of things in school not to have a real use, I was lucky that the programme i did allowed you to chose the subjects which you wanted to specialise in during the last 3 yrs of your school life. Being pragmatic is definately a good thing (i am like that) and your reasoning seems logical. However I do warn that pet grooming is actually very hard work, and it is very competitive; people tend to romanticise about their dream jobs, so maybe it might be an idea for you to see if you could do some volunteering at a pet saloon just to experience it? the other option is to watch 'Groomer has it' from Animal Planet; maybe you have seen it before, its one of those reality show competitions but it just shows how demanding it can get.
As for me, well currently im still unemployed but i graduated in biodiversity conservation ^^ so it also animal-related (but actually its more about dealing with people than animals!). Do you give your yorkie bows or fake diamond stickers? I've seen some of the pet shops do that here... I find it a bit excessive =__=

oh wow you know japanese, thats really cool... i hear its like super hard to learn kanji >_<
Yes I think the manga had a better plot. i haven't seen the Deathnote specials yet or the movie so I can't comment on those. But I think the show story started to go a bit down when they introduced the little L guy (i forget his name)... he was too similar to him and i guess it most have been some pressure from the editors, because without another character as smart as L it would quickly loose its momentum. At least thats what I speculate. But I would sooo use the death note >:3
but you know sometimes i worry that these authors who got famous after only 1 piece, cant out-do themselves and then they eventually fade out... i wonder if he is working on something else now?

oh a nice romance story i read was
http://myanimelist.net/manga/1158/Densha_Otoko_-_Net_Hatsu_Kakueki_Teisha_no_Love_Story
I heard its based on a real story which adds to the appeal >_<

ooh yea and Midori no Hibi is rather cute, but i know what you mean. sometimes it feels like theres too much out there; and sometimes nothing really fits the mood you have at that moment so you just cant find anything!

well i wouldn't be in a rush to grow out of it... it may sound a bit cliche, but school life is pretty easy in comparison so enjoy it. it might sound hard and stupid but believe me i used to hate school, so for me to now say this means a lot! If you still feel anxious maybe its worthwhile to think what you would like to do (or not?) in terms of skills?
